Playstation 3 MMORPG???

So I used to be a PC gamer (Diablo 2, WoW) and recently bought a Playstation 3.  I really like the game play of World of Warcraft, but in the end I just enjoy the environment of playing alongside other players to work towards a goal (ie: raiding, questing, group instances, etc...).  I'm definitely more of a PvE player as opposed to PvP. 

Does anything similar to this exist for the Playstation 3?  I know that FFXI was for PS2 but there are problems with it being backwards compatible for PS3, so I'm not going to try that and be let down. 

Any thoughts or assistance would be most helpful.

    im not absolutly posative, but there is a everquest online adventures for playstation, what im not posative about is if it is for ps3 , i suppose if the ps3 can read ps2 discs then you have found yerself an mmo for a platform game, it is listed here in the site as well.

    yah...everquest online adventures is all but dead (which is too bad).

    Unfortunately no there is nothing like that on ps3 atm. I currently don't see much news about ps3 game development of the nature that you are talking about.

    If you have a 60GB PS3 you shouldn't notice any backwards compatibility problems with FFXI.

     

    As for a recommendation, although it isn't technically an MMO (I guess by this sites standards it could still be considered one) I would suggest you try Monster Hunter, a very PVE orientated game. It features an offline and an online mode, and in the online mode you are able to complete quests with other people in an instanced area in order to gain experience points. The game is also very skill based (there are levels (20), but they don't determine your characters physical attributes like other RPGs, but instead allow you to access more areas/quests the higher up you get). Monster Hunter is a PS2 game, so you need either a 60GB or an 80GB PS3.

    i think Huxley said something about a console version.  same with Conan (but X-box seems to own all conan things) and WAR (again X-box)

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
    -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

    i played all my major MMOs on console. FFXI for 2+ years (ps2/360) EQOA bout half a year(ps2) im so used to console set ups its been hard for me to get used to PC MMOs, and those 2 games are defnitly diffrent style games in general. me and my buddys who play on console have been looking out for console MMOs for a while now. the thing is not many comanys want to cross platform. probly the earlyst thing on console MMOs is gunna be Huxley(MMOFPS) then probly age of conan(MMORPG) but they wont be out til mid to end of next year =(

    there are other games in the works, but it will be a yr or 2 before they are even close to ready aka: marvel MMORPG(360)/ new square enix MMO(360:ps3)/ free relms(ps3)/ secret world(360).

    at this point there really is only 2 true MMOs out there FFXI and EQOA(wich is great but dead now) there are a couple smaller MP online RPGs like Monster hunter and phantasy star universe..but there not really MMOs and GL fining monster hunters(the games really old and proly half dead)

    the only thing i can see for ps3 comming soon enough is apprently Angel Online is gunna be free online for PS3, but who knows if PS3s in US will have it (its one of those 2/3d cartoony free games)

    well if you do happen to find one id like to know..ive been waiting for age..and i dont wanna go back to FFXI again, i dont wanna re-do 2yrs worth.
