Nope. They got rid of General Discussion and then renamed the Current forums to General Discussion.

I just wonder when they are going to finally shut the NGE down... Can't be too much longer. When they shut it down, it will be a time for celebration, unlike the sad "last day" of Pre-CU and then CU.

As much as some of us would like this to happen, it's not likely to be anytime soon. Planetside should have been shut down well over 2 years ago but it's still going because the station pass keeps games like that and the NGE alive. Planetside went down from 7 servers to 3 and now there's even demand to merge the 3 servers... LMAO.
I suppose that the Veteran Refuge Forum having many more active posts than the Current Player Forum was found to be a bit, er....disturbing to the few that care. As it was, many of the fanbois seemed to spend more time in the refuge than the current forum, so why not combine the the smaller forum with the general forum?
SWG is just Station Pass filler now...never again to see an expansion or upgrade. It could remain on Station Access Pass Life Support indefinitely. Nothing says dead game louder or clearer than the ghost servers or those begging for server mergers/free transfers.

DING! DING! DING! WE HAVE A WINNER FOLKS! take yer pick of the stuffed jedi on the first shelf...
Seriously, the vet refuge forums post count was pwnin the current forum by more than 3:1, and has been that way ever since they were first created (go figure, lol). The fact is there are far more people that long for the good ol days of preCU/NGE, than those that consider the NGE'd version of the game "starwarsy and iconic".
Well, now that the "current" forums post count was just bumped up by more than 80k "general" posts (most of which were posted by people like us anyhow, who were since banished to the "vet refuge" forum) maybe the fanbois will have an easier time claiming how "SWG is better now, people are returning, its ta uberist ever, so get over it!"
Well, atm "general" has bout 98k posts, "vet refuge" 34k, so I wonder how long it'll take before refuge is pwning that one too? Though tbh, I doubt SWG will even still be around at that point (its got maybe 1-2 yrs left in it, if that, before LA mercifully pulls the life support plug), but it'd be fun to see happen thats for sure, lol
"Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?"
So in other words, their SOE masters said "jump" and Stradden answered, "How high"?
I am not surprised. But that is it a temporary reprieve, in <1 year (assuming there even still IS a SWG) this forum will have more posts than "general".

Well if it ever was a contest between Current Players and Veteran Refugee we beat em by 3 times more
Well you can take it that way in General all talking about anything Starwars Galaxies should be allowed in Refugee all fanboi trolling will be taken care of , so i see here the fanbois loosing an exclusive place.
And if someone don't get our attention by words in the now open General we just bump the PRE NGE threads -there are 80k plus PRE NGE posts there lol

I honestly hope you're wrong Sookster, I hope that, if Bioware DOES come out with an SW MMO, that SOE will not only shut down SWG, but remove any trace of its existance both on their forums and any other forums (I know it won't happen, but one can dream).
I mean, it's kind of sickening knowing that lurking behind a succesful MMO (Bioware's) lurking behind in the shadows was it's predecessor (SWG) it would be more humane to simply kill SWG so the NGE can be forgotten completely.

They can run Planetside profitably even with 5K subscribers because they own the IP and aren't having to pay a 3rd party, so they can cut the dev staff to 5 or so (and share them with other station pass duds) .
Even though it's been reported that LEC reduced the license fee for SWG (it'd been reported previously that it was $10 mil/year) I guarantee that they are still having to pay SOMETHING and that it's 7 figures. GL is never going to give away the IP for free. So there comes a point where the numbers drop into the red and they shut it down. I've been told that they've been dragging close to that point for a long time and would have gone under in early 2006 had the re-negotiation not taken place.
LEC probably wants to keep SWG open until they are close to being ready to beta their new MMO that while it technically won't be a sequal since it wont be set in the same timeline, will be, so they were willing to give SOE a price cut. But the cat is really out of the bag. Since SOE is NOT going to be involved in KOTORO, why bother maintaining this turkey?
The doors could close here at ANY time. Even before the end of the year. They will keep denying that up to the moment they announce it (knowing SOE they will do that at the point at which they can pocket the maximum amount of $$$) but this could happen literally any day now.
SOE is still trying to get some piece of the action for KOTORO, probably as part of "Platform Publishing". But with EA coming into the picture, that is as unlikely as Smed apologizing and reinstating Pre-CU. It simply isn't going to happen. The other probability is they are going to pick up the remnants of Perpetual (which holds the rights to STO and are looking for a publisher) for peanuts and simply abandon SWG.

Agreed, that's why I'm glad MMORPG are keeping them in the general forums instead of spreading them out in the 3-4 threads they had before. As I said, at least MMORPG has the guts to do a merger, God knows SOE won't XD
