Being all over the official forums, and google, I have yet to see a single article on the future of Ryzom. Has anyone seen anything positive?
I did successfully create a Silan account. Unfortunately my main account lapsed, and even though it shows as a 2 week invite, I cannot log into prime (sadness).
I went to the "Free Ryzom" site today, and it seems they have not updated since January. So much for the hope of OS, sadly it looks like they took the money and ran. These guys made a 60K bid on the game last year. I wonder what became of that sum...
^%$#!!!

There's no news, because there's simply no news. Whatever goes on in French Court, including talks on possible buyers, stays undisclosed as by French law. The game seems to be still running, Customer Support is still active, although they probably won't be able to help you out with billing issues.
As far as 'Free Ryzom' goes, no money was ever accepted. Only pledges were made.
The lvl cap on Silan has been raised. Not too sure what this means, but I am hoping for the best.

Thanks for the posts.
Edit: Apologies for the statement on Free Ryzom. I thought I had read somewhere that they were switching focus to supporting other projects, I read to far between the lines on that one perhaps.

From reading their site and others, I presume it was pledges of money support only. Far as getting in the game I did so finally a few days ago, but can only access the trial island, for now I guess til things start moving again.

Afaik the "Free Ryzom" site/community was created the last time Ryzom went into recievership. Therefor no changes to the site since january 2007 (Gameforge had bought the rights for the game at that time).
As others mention in another thread, its very hard to get any evidence on whether the game will die or being saved.
Ryzom is/was a great game, but ever since Gameforge bought it, nothing really changed/got fixed of the stuff we as players was promised at the launch in 2004. I stopped playing the game in march 2007 for those reasons.
I hate to mention it....
But has anyone tried talking to the Smedster, and maybe seeing if they would add it to AAP. If he could buy it cheap enough, I am sure he probably would.
I played the beta, and that kept me from buying. When I downloaded onto my PC, I got it working after some tinkering. I talked my wife into it. Downloaded onto her PC....BAM locked it up. Have to pull power, reboot and her PC is a mess. Ended up working hrs to get everything right, and to say I was in dog house would be an understatement. I can get into trouble without a game helping me....sheesh
They knew folks were have problems with game, yet they were forced to launch anyways ala Vanguard. Shame cause game seemed to be special.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
You can't be serious , Ryzom sure is still in better state and don't have to fall that deep to hope that the biggest stinker of an MMO company could buy that game.
Thats one of the least possible solutions and in really not passable one.
