This game looks great!

I just ordered the boxed game and can't wait to play it!  I have a few questions for you experts.

Is there any way to get a founders offer if you don't know anyone?  I posted in the main begging thread but am hoping to buy the lifetime subscription when it gets here.

You can have 3 professions right?  I was thinking of trying the Minstrel Loremaster, what would be some good profession combos for that class?  Would it be good for a new player to just do some gathering and sell the mats?

Thanks mates

Although I can't help you with the founders pricing, I can answer your questions about professions. There are about 7-9 (can't recall the exact number) of crafting classes you choose for your character, and those classes are a combo of 3 different professions. So, you don't get to choose just any 3 that you'd like, but rather from a set list. Depending on what you want to do, there's a variety of options that you'll definitely have to  check out. Hope you enjoy the game, and if you're on Elendilmir, perhaps see you around! :)

I played a champion and lost interest at level 8 . graphics are awesome but the combat didnt do it for me. i liked the interface , but the combat specials didnt seem to do anything worth liking any of them for. Just my opinion of course but then agian im not a big lotr fan either.

you should read the discription of the professions befor training them. i have a hunter so i chose woodworking profession because that allows me to make bows and some one handed weapons. that suits a hunter because for starters the bow is the hunters main weapon and the best bows cant be bought, it can only be crafted. secondly a hunter need secondary weapon but can only use so many different types of weapons. again the best weapons cant be bought, they are bound to the person that carries them. for a champion i would say a metal smith because champions rely on thier heavy armor and weaponary. i am not sure what would be best for ministerial, i havent tried that class out yet. look at you classes most affective trait and build that up.

    there are actually 7 professions

    cook

    jeweler

    metalsmith

    acholar

    tailor

    weaponsmith

    woodworker

For minstrel I chose explorer vocation which gives you: tailor (for your own light armor), forrester...aka woodworker (for making components of light armor) and metalsmith (allows you to mine and make different metal ignots needed by other people).

Well, this list is not precise, there are in fact 10 professions (not 7)

Prospector (mines ore and smelts ingots)

     Tailor (makes light+medium armor)

    Metalsmith (makes heavy armor)

    Weaponsmith (makes weapons)

    Scholar

    Cook

    Jeweller

    Woodworker

    Farmer

Woodworker and Forester are NOT the same!! Forester gathers+prepares wood and raw leather.

Woodworkers process the prepared wood to bows/staff/instruments etc.

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.

yes but if you train for wood working for example you get forester and farmer with it. so you dont need to train them separately. a woodworker can gather the woods process them and make things out of it. woodworkers can also process leather but they cant make anything out of them. at least not as far as the xp level i have managed to reach.

The way you are explaining it may still be confusing for those who haven't played.  I'll post a blurb from a link and then the link as well:  From this link: forums.lotro.com/showthread.php

    2.0 VOCATIONS:

As a Crafter you will chose a Vocation, which includes three different professions. Most Vocations have a gathering profession, a related production profession, and an unrelated profession. The Vocation system is designed to encourage community interdependence. There is no "best" vocation for any class. Choose the one that interests you the most. It is more important that you enjoy the professions you get with your vocation. Here are the current vocations:

    • Armsman: Prospecting, Weaponsmith, Woodworker
    • Armorer: Prospecting, Metalsmithing, Tailor
    • Explorer: Forester, Prospector, Tailor
    • Historian: Farmer, Scholar, Weaponsmith
    • Tinker: Prospector, Jeweller, Cook
    • Woodsman: Farmer, Forestor, Woodworker
    • Yeoman: Farmer, Cook, Tailor
For more descriptions on vocations see the LOTRO article: Game Systems: Introduction to Crafting

    3.0 PROFESSIONS:

    Gathering Professions:

    • Prospector: One who gathers ore and stone.
    • Forester: One who gathers resources from the forest, such as collecting wood.
    • Farmer: Collecting items from farms.

    Hey guys!

    I appreciate all the feedback.

Thanks for the link DonnieBrasco.  That will keep me busy for a while.

dragonace, you hit the nail on the head because I was still a little confused.  Thanks for making it crystal and for the jucy links.
