eq1 vet curious about ac.

Hello I was wondering what the graphics on this are like, and is there a free trial? Now I loved eq back in the day but it lacked alot of things and was to time consuming I read alot of good things about ac and its not really the graphics in the environment im worried about its the characters and animations to me after playing other mmorpgs eq1 characters looked to wierd for me to play.
Eq2 was decent but still another time sink anyways any info you can give me is appreciated and the reason I ask because I saw there is now a graphics update.

Graphics aren't great but have style. World of Warcraft comes to mind. AC doesn't try to look realistic, They try to look stylish.
Asheron's call is full of great gaming concepts but the engine is just outdated.

The graphics are not of a modern state, but acceptable and after some time you get used to it. Much more important is the content of AC .After its 8 years existence it is a well balanced game with many, may quests for high and low level. Also the hunding grounds vary a lot, so every player can pick his target.
As you can see on the rankings of these boards, AC is still one of the top ten games ever. This say not all, but a lot.
It is certainly worth a try with the free trial and if you like it you can play on with the chars you created. One advice tho ... find asap a good monarchy / clan to join ... it is much more fun to get a helping hand and some advise. Not all is handed out in this game. Your clan members will help you to keep the right track.

Please PM me with some info on the crimson knights. How many actual active players do you have for example. (not monarchy members as AC keeps tally of everyone still in the monarchy regardless of how many years the account has been inactive)
How difficult is a house or villa to get? How is old Solclaim? What are the pops like and such. I know its never ever going to be like the days of Qual but are there any centers left or is everyone still at the marketplace? (Last I looked, that was about empty also on solclaim)
Just wondering. I started with AC years ago when the game was in its prime but most MMOs today can hardly run let alone provide a fun play experience. If anything AC was always fun with an active monarchy.
