nm I'll just say that I can tell you haven't really played medic.
Really, and you figured this out on your own? Or was it the fact the thread it titled 6/8 classes....not 8/8?
I team with a medic daily (And can login to his account whenever i feel)...also i have a lvl 25'ish Bio atm, so i guess in 5 levels i will be able to lend advice on them. (Allbeit to your standards)? I'll make sure to change the title for you as well to 8/8
With that being said, your not going to tell me anything i already don't know about the class.
So, please don't make assumptions about people and what they know. I would rather try and be constructive , and help the newer player base out.I think they will also agree with me here.
If you enjoy medics great, but lets not pretend there not without problems, or what every player is looking for in this game.
They have probably the most bugs, and exploits in the game currently. But i guess we will leave secrets for another time, ya' know so the spies don't role your ultra exclusive class
When i hit 30 on my own medic, i'll play em for a few days, come back and give information on them. Hopefully helping a few people out in the process. When you can actually lend an un-biased opinion, how about come back here and help a few new players ? /Nuc Nuc
Aren't you getting a little defensive and crazy just because I commented that medics are good soloers? As to my comment above, I only meant that maybe some of the info you were giving about medics was not entirely good, regardless your thread title and regardless of how authoritative your other level 30s make you feel. The whole point of me posting in the first place was just to say "medics are really good even with "bugs", you might give them a try". The game doesn't end at lvl 30 you know .
No no, you originally started buy saying your class (Medics) were great. But then took a tangent not helpful to anyone anywhere. That's fine, to each his own.
Saying you wouldn't want people you deem "Fotm" to roll the class. That's fine also, not being helpful isn't a trait you have. i also know this game doesn't end a 30, but it doesn't end solo either there.
That left aside, you then post a reply of "Nm" fair enough. But couldn't leave it alone re-editing it with more Troll worthly ranting. I know these are forums. But this point is when you chose to troll, rather then read all my posts, about medics. (What little i even did post on them) I gave no-missinformation what so ever.
But TR has no offical forums many new players come here for information, and help. So far be it for me to spend hours replying to people, trying to be helpful. Then run into a person such as yourself that wants to put themselves on a peddlestool. Not helping anyone along the way.
What you did it basically come into a thread, write your one paragraph on "Medics are super cools". Throw a wrench into the community help machine. Now you got it pissed. Why would you piss it off? Now the help machines gonna have to cut a fool. /End rant
But your right i'm probably just looking to win a forum thread trophy right? Or maybe i just enjoy actually helping people. Who knows

I'm not sure why I'm replying to this, but are you reading the same thread I am? I wasn't aware that I was trying to attack or argue with you. Maybe it's just me, but as "Mr. Constructive" trying to help everyone, maybe you shouldn't attempt to derail your own thread into a flame war because someone called your omniscience of TR into question (indirectly even).
As far as medics go, they are very underrated I think. People seem to discount them because of their preconceptions about medics or because a few skills in their arsenal are not all that helpful. Coincidentally the ones you listed: frighten, insanity, and leech gun would be some that I'd consider to be in this category. Others include the AE heal, and the rez. Their other skills, however, more than make up for the bad/broken ones.
Leech gun is ok in groups, but really you're usually better off just healing and switching back to shotgun or injection gun in most cases. The damage is comparatively low and the ammo cost huge in comparison. The way to solo is definitely not by using "modded leech guns". In fact, I even specced out of leech guns entirely because I never used them. If you group more than I do, perhaps you'd get better mileage...
Insanity has very short range, makes the mob totally unattackable, and has a relatively high power cost for a single target. Also the mob you use it on generally doesn't attack anything (much like the AI for other pets). I can think of only 1 situation where I've really needed it, and it was an unusual one. The only "exploit" I'm aware of involves this skill, but it's not even a good one.
Frighten is not a terrible skill, but the duration is very short (10 seconds) and any damage will break the effect. It also has a cooldown that when combined with the duration, prevents you from really CCing with it. You definitely can't "stack it" as you said.
--------------
Skills/abilities I like include: leech (not gun), immunity, injection gun, tools, regeneration wave (amazing), lightning, and decay sometimes. Firearms and buffs can also be useful. There are arguments for both bio armor and hazmat. Personally I prefer hazmat or a mixture.
Leech: Leech gives you power and health back every time you damage an enemy's health. The effect doesn't seem to apply to damage done by decay. At pump 5, you can regain your power to full pretty quickly by using leech and a viral injection gun. You can also "health tank" mobs reasonably well if you need to.
Immunity: 99% of all the bane damage seems to be physical damage. The main exceptions to this are the howlers (sonic), light benders (laser), and technicians (emp), and mantas/warnets(electric). If you put up physical immunity (and possibly sonic) and quickly kill the light benders, you usually have nothing to worry about. The technicians will deplete your armor, but your health will never take a hit. This can be a bit dangerous if there happens to be a lightning shooting boss around. It's best to kill the techs after light benders and heal armor.
Injection guns: high damage, low ammo cost, armor penetration, option to use viral damage....what's not to like? I use these almost exclusively.
Tools: healing is good. So is being able to unlock crates.
Regeneration wave: possibly the best skill medics get. Practically unlimited power for you and your group and insane health regen. I'll leave it at that.
Lightning: Since you can give yourself virtually limitless power, you can throw down lightning 5 everywhere with regen wave up. This is good for you, bad for enemies.
Decay: When you're trying to ramp up the damage on tough enemies (or in pvp), this skill can be pretty handy. Especially after using an emp bomb.
Buffs: The short duration can get very tiresome. It's usually more trouble than it's worth to try to buff groupmates. Nevertheless, they can give you a good boost when you need it.
(A tip for targeting group members: hold down the right mouse button to "lock" on someone. When you release the button, the skill will fire buffing your target. Much easier than trying to make them stand still and single clicking.)
Firearms: If you take this skill, you're doing it for shotguns mostly. The knockdown can be helpful, and having another source of AE damage in addition to lightning 5 is good too. Injection guns make pistols and rifles obsolete for the most part. I still use EMP rifles on occasion to take out shield drones.
"That's fine also, not being helpful isn't a trait you have." - I'll take that as a compliment.

Glad the info might help~
Maybe i miss-understood one of them. But posting late at night , coupled with trying to actually get max information out there, can sometimes wear you down.
With that said, i meant no harm in the defensive replies. I'm just used to game forums that have masses of children, young adults that troll and "try" to cause problems. Far be it for me to try and discourage that before it actually happens. sometimes it works sometimes you get more trolls.
So ,we will try to keep the information coming. In the meantime i would like to hear more from other players about classes. The more information the better.

Yes i shot myself for letting SOE cost me that much $ hehe.
Hey all, i recently finished leveling 6 out of the 8 game classes to level 30. Current 30's are. Spy , sniper, grenadier, guardian, demo, engineer. Working on the medic and Exobiologist atm. So if anyone has any questions about the classes at lvl 30 i'll try to give a fair and un-biased opinion on them for you. I know one guys opinion is anothers garbage, but i'll try to do my best, and maybe help lend some class or spec or even leveling help to the newer players out there.
i need your help I'm a LVL 29 Sapper going for engineer. How should I have him build? Where I put my points and trained points? Are only allowed to have one bot at a time?
firearms is very needed as a spy, they remain effective all the way to top level. the only two weapon skills I put points into is Blade and firearms, 1 pump of netgun just so I can use it to hold people, but otherwise everything else you dont need. btw, rage +backstab=silly damage
I'll leave this up to your personal playstyle. But..
My opinion is that, i would do in the least 4/5 pump firearms as a spy. Mainly due in part to, if your missioning and there is a predator, or bain mortar, up on the side of mountains or flying around. That you as a melee class cannot viably "reach".
This is where having firearms comes in handy, added to the fact in instances or just in general, being able to use Shotgun aoe/knockback, and using rifles pretty well. Sometimes breaks the repetativness spys seem to fall into.
if anything do 3/5 pumps. Plus at 50 even after maxing all the main useful spy skills, you have a ton of points left over to use in w/e your personal playstyle wants. Hope this helps.

Engi's are a more complex build type of class, first you have to ask yourself what you want from the class in particular. If you solo alot, if your team mostly, do you like doing single target damage with bot support, or do you like mainly using bots to do your damage with "chr" single target support.
Also yes, Only one bot atm, is allowed to be called at a time. But with 5/5 pumps in bots, you will mostly use rank5 multi-bot. Sometimes the rank3 repair-bot, but mostly 5.
But, at 30 this is how i speced, it's kind of a "get the good talents"early kinda spec.
-Recruit tree-
3/5 Firearms
-Specialist Tree-
3/5 tools, having the res is worth it at this lvl. But if you do not team alot, you could get away with not any pnts here. I always do at lest 3/5 tools on all my spec' toons though.
-Sapper Tree-
Shield extender 2/5
Polarity guns 3/5
Mech armor 4/5
-Engi Tree-
Turrets 5/5
Bot construction 5/5
Trap 1/5
Temp' Wormhole 1/5
Now with this build, you should have...2pnts left over at 30 that i just saved.
But with this build you get your multi bot which has an awesome shield. Thats why i didnt put more pnts into Shield extender at this lvl.
You get 5/5 turrets, which ALL do different types of damage, and ALL can be dropped at the same time (But remain stationary). Pump 5 being nice for Virulent damage, and pump 2 doing sonic, which knockback.
I chose 3/5 firearms here because shotgun AOE can mesh nice with 5 turrets, a shield-bot, and all hell breaking loose.
trap 1, cause it is situational at best, but in that situation it's nice, i prefer this over crab-mines, being CM's are really buggy at times. trap turret you have a bit more control over.
Temp Wormhole, because it's nice having a "hearth" or "call back" method, saves a ton of time.
i only did 2/5 Shield extender (atm) because at 30 you get your special move, a multi-bot, (Which has a damn nice shield). Base wave special, is -really- nice. It pumps your armor regen to a point thats absurd, added your wearing 4/5 mech which grants you even more armor regen base.
in the end, it's up to you and the player and playstyle. You -could- do more pumps into polarity gun, and less into turrets, etc. Research, or play around with this build to see what you might like.
I usually shy away from maxing skills to 5 pumps at 30 and or even lower lvls, unless there class defining. IE: Bots, or Turrets, etc. It's too many pnts when you have so many skills you can get at first.
You have really high survival rights as a Engi in almost any sinario. They are a vital support role in this game IMO.
More often then not, dropping a shield-bot, 5 turrets, a trap, emp bomb? Using shield extender and Base wave. Will literally be un-killable, with tools, in PvE.
Most times in fights, your going to be using, dropping, applying so many skills, etc. At first in a initial fight that maxing polarity guns atm just isn't viable at these lvls. It's more of a after though, to when you get all your stuff out, then single target to finish then up.
Suggestions: 30+ are, 30-40 get shield extender to 4/5 pumps, trap turrets to 5/5 pumps (Virulent damage). Also you can even take crab mines here to gain some support AOE if you see fit.
40-50 Max sheild extender 5/5 pumps, give polarity gun 4/5 , and max mech armor to 5/5. This will leave you with 3-4 pnts, depending on if you took crabmines 3--40 , to play around with.
It's up to you, but this is a nice base to start. But i hope this helps.

Yes i shot myself for letting SOE cost me that much $ hehe.
My play style is an hour one day, maybe 2 another, but usally on a daily basis.
I tend to solo and was leaning towards a sniper build. Not so much for only the high damage but for the very same reaons you mentioned:
"Snipers aren't a Repetative class, that Spys seems to hover into. Snipers when soloing have a ton of options at there dissposal, weather it be using a TSR,shotguns, chainguns, etc."
I enjoy having to consider my options - think and act fast, being required to use different tactics based on the situation and then the need to quickly re-think whatever I thought was the plan to something else...thinking on one's feet.
Where would you put your skill points and attributes points into this class?
Also would you please offer a reason why you chose one skill over another and include attributes as well?
Thanks!
and if your are bored you could throw in a spy build too!

Sorry for the late response, but as for a Sniper build. I'll assume you are wanting a lvl 30 build. So here is mine at this level. Some people may opp for doing pnts a little different. But we each have our own thought on this.
Lvl 30 Sniper Build pnts should breakdown like this.
-Recruit Tree-
4/5 Firearms
-Soldier Tree-
4/5 Rage (Yes , even after they fix this skill, it will still be VERY important)
-Ranger Tree-
3/5 Reinforcements (I take this mostly for the medic, it is a really nice ohh crap, situational support skill. That has saved me countless times. He doesn't heal armor, just health. But one heal fills your bar to full)
1/5 Net Guns
1/5 Stealth armor (I'm not a big fan of stealth armor, why i choose to only invest one pnt into it, i pumped it to 4/5 on another chr. I saw almost no difference between 1-4 pumps, leave this at 1)
-Sniper Tree-
5/5 called shots (Probably my favorite sniper talents, called shots puts a different debuff on various targets. You cast the debuff, then have to fire a shot at said target for it to initiate.
Besides Rank5 headshot, this is a cast, then fire, for a + x Damage modifier. One time use per-shot.)
5/5 Torqueshell Rifles (i maxed this at 30 to 5/5 , because i did not take Target painting, at 5 pumps the TSR bypasses 75% armor. Which in all reality makes it work like a medic's injector gun.
Latter on you can take 3-4 pumps target painting, to have 20%-30% added armor penetration, for 100% total, but that will come later.)
Now, at this point you have your basic needed skills covered, From here you will have 7 points left over. To do what you see fit, and get some goodies. This will come down to player playstyle, but this it what i took with the 7 extra pnts.
I got 1/5 Machine guns. (I plan to do 4/5 later on.)
I took 2/5 Carpet Bombs (Just to try them out, and i'm pleased to say there great)
I spent the last two into 2/5 Shredder Ammo (Again just to try it out, but i do also find this skill situational, but VERY good. Basically it adds a different type of damage to your bullets for 20 seconds.
IE: EMP bullets, Sonic bullets, Laser, etc. But it's nice because the sonic bullet buffs, actually cause a knockback.
So you can use your Machinegun, pop crit wave (your special) , then rage, then use Sonic buffed shredder ammo, and watch the fireworks go
As i said it's up to you but with carpet bombs, shredder ammo, machine guns, it gives the class a different dynamic which reading your post, i think you are looking for.
After 30 i plan to do this.
30-40
Carpet bombs 3/5 (This will be all i invest here)
Shredder Ammo 3/5 (For sonic bullets)
Target painting 4/5 (This will be maxed and all i spend here)
Machine guns 2/5 (Extra point sink)
This will leave you with 2 pnts at 40 which i saved.
40-50
Machine Guns 4/5 (This will now be maxed, no more pnts here)
Target Painting 5/5 (This is now maxed, and is awesome because now we have machine guns at 4/5, and now we have 40% armor penetration from TP. Fun will insue).
Rage 5/5 (here as well because extra pnts were there, and it's still an awesome skill i use almost constantly. Some complain because it's getting "Fixed" but it's still going to be one of the defining soldier skills we have).
Shredder Ammo 4/5 for electric debuff (This is maxed now, i choose to finally get the electric bullets because BAIN seem to be highly prone to elec' damage i've noticed, so it makes getting a Headshot crit a bit more powerful, when your trying to down a boss, or spawn boss.)
Now this "Should" leave you with 3 pnts left at 50, which again can just be dumped into something you might find useful. I put them into 2/5 Shrapnel just for kicks.
But with this build, you get ALOT of goodies REALLY soon in the lvling process. So basically your just lvling 30-50 with all the good stuff, and trying to finally max the good stuff out.
This also gives you a more deverse role as a sniper, due to you have awesome machine guns, carpet bomb, and shrapnel AOE,etc.
So if the situation calls for some AOE support, or machine gun fire its there.
One thing i'll add, when i play my sniper i honestly use my machine gun, shotgun, and (Normal) rifles more then my TSR's.
Any Sniper out there just using a TSR, will be really pressed to kill most groups if he plays so narrow-minded.Only using one type of gun or damage.Don't get me wrong, yes you can kill, but at higher lvls stuff gets harder, and have more HP's. The aim time on TSR's will get you killed if your trying to take out 7+ bain in a group.
Example:
I'm starring at a group of 6 Bain solo at 31, there lvls 35-36, one elite boss in the middle, with a shield drone covering them.
With the goodies from our build it will playout like this.
First i pop my rank3 reinforcements (We'll need him).
I pop rage, EMP shredder ammo, and use my EMP torqueshell to take the drone out. At 80m out mind you.
I switch to my electric TSR, Called Shots Rank5 any bain in the group that has an armor, or health heal (Caretakers, or engineers). Kill them, from like 75m out cause now there closing in on you.
Now i switch to my normal rifle(Not TSR),use Called Shots Rank1 on the boss for 75% movement reduction. Hit him once after the CS's to activate it. then get 80m out again with 4-5 normal bain closing in on me.
Now i pop rage again, Physical shredder ammo, and switch to my machine gun. When they get close i lay waste to em' with fire, and carpet bombs. Or use a shotty, I prefer machine guns here though.
Now you have a boss coming at you with 75% movement decrease giving you ample time to setup for him. I'll called shots rank1 again on him, get distance, switch to a TSR and use called shots Rank5 on him after every TSR shot to maximize damage.
Reminder, that called shots works on a stacking mechanic, so you can literally get 1-3 off on him, before finally using rank5 headshot for max damage, Depending on it's short cooldown of course.
It might go this way, it might go different, depends on how you setup the fight, and use your skills.
I've found Snipers to be very fun playing like this. Can different classes do this scenario better and faster ? Probably.
But how many other classes can 1 shot a predator or stalker in there face? Each has it's own little quarks to make them viable. No one tops a sniper 60-80m out though
Also for leveling me and one of my friends play Sniper/Grenadier.
We switched from Spy/Guardian because melee is just kinda boring at times in this game.
Sniper and a Grenadier mesh really well together, He's got main AOE damage and can tank the initial agro. With secondary support single target damage.
I can Mainly single target DPS, with AOE secondary support. It has seemed to work well for us esp* with sniper crit wave. So find yourself a nader buddy
Hope this helps

Your lucky i got Wi-Fi connect on my Iphone atm hehe. Business meetings are boring anyways.
I don't know if i've posted a spy build yet, but there pretty straight forward. Should go something like this at 30.
-Recruit Tree-
Motor Assist Armor 4/5 (Yes, it's low armor value, but KEY for a spy class). IMO
-Soldier Tree-
2/5 Shrapnel
4/5 Rage
-Ranger Tree-
Reinforcements 3/5 (Medic)
Net Guns 1/5
Stealth Armor 1/5
-Spy Tree-
Magnesium Flash 1/5 (Leave this at 1)
Traitor 3/5
Polymorph 4/5
Blades 5/5
This will leave you with 2 pnts at 30 for w/e.
This build gives you all the nice skills, with a melee heavy mindset. I chose this because after two spy respecs i finally realized Firearms, and or Machine guns aren't really needed for Spies. They hit so hard it's comical most times.
You can* op to drop some of the AOE support in this build for a 4/5 Firearm type. But with Shrapnel, that's all the AOE your going to need at lower lvls. +you save $ not using guns so much, not having firearms gets you used to not being so reliant on them.
Also i will NOT do 5/5 Polymorph because it's probably -the- most situational skill in game, for any class lol.
The ONLY use i've found for Rank 5 poly is jumping off a cliff and knowing your going to die, to self-rez and save time running around.
Or......In the split second you know your going to die fighting bain, and given the chance you HAVE enough power to activate it, before dyeing.
Which most times you self res', and just dye again anyways. FUN!
But 30-50 you can work on maxing your skills out.
What i plan on doing is 5/5 motor assist. 4/5 sprint, 4/5 lighting (For the Stun it comes with).
I'm not a big fan of firearms on a spy, some might be. They just don't offer enough class specific support moves to use with it besides rage, and maybe Traitor. But thats the base at 30 i went with.
Also i'd like to add, with motor assist armor 4/5 at 30, and stealth armor 1/5. I constantly change armor on my spy. If i got a group to takeout, i use stealth armor for the high armor value, if i'm running around, killing 1-3 pulls, or single targets. Motor Assist is awesome.
Hope this help /nuc nuc

My sapper's getting close to 30 so I'm trying to decide whether to go demo or engineer. Here's my question - how does the engineer do in solo play? Does he really need a group in order to survive? At lower levels I don't seem to really ever need a group outside of instances, but I do recognize this will likey change at higher levels. So a support character may not be a bad thing.
Also just a general question about combat versus support classes - do rangers and commandos level much faster than sappers and biotechs? If so, I may make my commando my main and then clone specialists once I power level through the lowbie areas.

If you solo alot during your gameplay. I would suggest going the engineer route. Demo's can run into alot of scenarios that will end bad, because of massive AOE spikes, and healing tools not being on par.
Not to say Demos cannot solo, they have realitly ripper, and other skills to make solo play easier.Engineers have a much easier time solo with the support skills they are given. Engi's are also a little more player friendly if your having a rough time with the games learning curve. To say the least.
Soldier classes in general i have found to level MUCH easier then support.Having done it numerous times at this point, Soldiers hands down.
Support classes in this game can lvl fast, but rage and a shotgun will more often then not, be more viable then doing support damage and healing when you get low. I think they need to buff healing tools in general IMO. Also give support chr's a little more "Flair" to say the least. Most times higher lvl, you find yourself spam healing to stay alive, while doing no damage. Then trying to do damage, between the gaps you can get a shot off in.
They just miss something to me, were as playing a soilder of any type. You know your a soldier, you do damage, and your good at what you do. You don't expect heals, because you don't need them most times, damage carries you a long way in this game, compared to most.
Support chrs have to many variables to be specific. But that's just my opinion, many will probably dissagree.Who knows, hopefully things will balance out in months to come.
Hope this helps.

It's little slow, but does a lot of damage. Really feels like sniping. Now I understand better why it's important have even very shot time damage buffs. With good bonus to damage You can one shot enemies down. Too bad I don't have much training points to use. Hope we get respect soon.

TSR's are really fun
Sometimes the situation might call for a different weapon, but most cases the TSR will be you baby. As it should.
I just wish stealth armor wasn't so retro-punk, and looked more like an actual sniper ghillie suite. You know, with grass, camo, branches, leaves and whatnot sticking out of it.
I mean, why does stealth armor cause a stealth? you can color the stuff day glow pink if you want. Gimmie a standard issue ghillie suite for a vet-reward Lord British! My sniper doesn't need urban-punk'tastic Metroid knockoff armor.
We could add some kinda of glowing goggles for the RP, "don't break the mold" people

You could do that I do. I really give feedback to developers and bug reports.
I have allready reported that in my opinion Stealth armors stealh isn't working. I mean if we players who wears it can't feel any different, then it's not really working. I think You should, if You haven't allready, report it too.
Yes, it would be nice to have more option as how they look. I have allready reported the helmet, that I would like to see helments where I can see the face too.
How ever, I haven't thinked the suit it self. I think is't pretty good looking, but You are right, it's not like snipers would actually use.
Would be also nice to lie down when sniping.
Don't really like why logos buffs has be done in stand position, when crouching. Why not just allow it to do, from crouching position.

Who knows

Thank you kindly for your reply to my earlier post.
You've been most helpful, keep up the good work.

I think there may have been some mis-understandings.
To get the level of knowledge that was clearly shown with 6/8 (and my guess working on 8/8 as I type this) characters this quickly may wear one's nerves thin.

Is firearms useless for a spy?
i need your help I'm a LVL 29 Sapper going for engineer. How should I have him build? Where I put my points and trained points? Are only allowed to have one bot at a time?
thanks
firearms is very needed as a spy, they remain effective all the way to top level. the only two weapon skills I put points into is Blade and firearms, 1 pump of netgun just so I can use it to hold people, but otherwise everything else you dont need. btw, rage +backstab=silly damage

Question:
I asked here about snipers and got some nice ansers..

MMORPG.COM has worst forum editor ever exists

So happy now, got my Torque shell Rifle.
It's little slow, but does a lot of damage. Really feels like sniping. Now I understand better why it's important have even very shot time damage buffs. With good bonus to damage You can one shot enemies down. Too bad I don't have much training points to use. Hope we get respect soon.
