Help me find an MMO to play!

Hey guys.  So me and my friend are looking for a new MMO to start... MMO's we've played so far:  EQ1, EQ2, Star Wars Galaxies, end Final Fantasy XI (got max level in all of these games).  Other games we've tried have been Vanguard (my system couldn't handle the graphics), DDO (eh, hated it), end WoW (HATE this game).

SO... anyone know of some good MMORPG's that have been out for a little while, or just came out, or are coming out that don't require Vanguard or higher graphics?? (don't wanna try LOTR, no classes interest me and too much like other games)

P.S.:  Does Tabula Rasa have a free downloadable trial??

Thanks

You kind of killed all the options for newer games with that list, and im with you on pretty much all of it.

I have a friend that really likes Hellgate, i know nothing of TR. And you are going to get alot of people who tell you to play Eve.

Depending on how dated your system is you could try Vanguard again if it has been awhile. They have optimized it a bit and it is working better on older systems. I have a pretty old rig and i can play the game although it is on best performance and my FPS is still not fantastic.

I would have to agree with you, the games that you've listed are pretty much the popular bunch and somewhat "classic."

There are a few games that you can fit quite easily in...I'd recommend Ultima Online because its skilled based and not leveled based it'll be a new thing for you, lots of things you can do and become...You could either pick up the pace or go slow...Lots of content, but the player base isn't what it used to be...Still a great game though, its one of my personal favorite...

Another would be LoTR, lots of quests to do, still quite new IMO...Beautiful scenery and monsters, graphics are quite nice...Player base is still populated, some friendly some not...You could fit into the game easily, like EQ and EQ 2, like I said you can go at your pace fast or slow lots of things you can do in the game...

    omg a Wow hater...BE GONE!

lol im just playing, I recently just got back into AC, yes I know its an "old game"...but I've played it for 4 years, and I loved it. And I still love it. Unfortunately 2008 looks "to me" like its going to be another 2007...boring old, same old MMORPG'S! You should try "lol im going to get flamed for saything this" Archlord, its free. Its not a bad game, it does have alot of "grind" to it, tho.

    Just my 2 cents. :)

Hmm.. all the game I would recommend is already on your list.. Guild Wars maybe, or CoX if you like something "easier"?

Btw, OP said he don't wanna play LOTRO, and Hellgate is NOT a MMORPG.

Edit: Forget Ashlord, you don't wanna play that crap when you're used to quality like FFXI and EQ2 :)

Hmm, what's CoX??  Not sure if I've heard of it or not.. since I was forced to grind in so many MMO's I'm not sure if I would like the easier part of it lol

But I just got done going down the list and seeing some games that seem sort-of interesting...  Any of you guys know any of these games??

Dark and Light, Anarchy Online, Horizon's, and Knight Online??  Also looked at MapleStory (was a huge fan of Gunbound for a while lol, so thought I might give this a shot... wonder how it would compare to the games I've played though ><)

    Thanks again  :D

CoH = City of Heroes, CoV = City of Villains. CoX just means both.

Anarchy Online: IMO it's crap. If you wanna play it, the main game + first expansion is both free to download, and play.

Dark and Light is a game I haven't played, but I have heard nothing good about it, "everyone" tells me it's crap.

I heard Knights Online has the "Korean Model", it means you buy items for real money to use in-game. I never touch games like that.

Believe it or not, Horizons is a game i'm downloading just now, the download is extremely slow, so it will take me several more hours before it's finished. Heard both good and bad about it, but the 14 days free trial made me decide to try myself.

Don't ever touch maplestory. You'll be sorry >.<

Anarchy online was a decent game back in the days. But ive lost interest in it now, but i guess it's still the same..

Horizons.. Where should i start, uh.. It's a rather cool game that's for sure.. But i didn't like the crafting system, the graphics weren't my taste if i want 3d that is.

Considering it has a trial, just go a try it :)

I would suggest perhaps lotro for the better of the fantasy gener's and eve or saga of ryzom for the better sci-fi genre mmos, i have a guild in lotro and am in a really nice corp in eve, both i can invite you to if you like, i wish i could afford to play ryzom still but i guess 2 is my mmo budget limit.

    playing eq2 and two worlds
