I noticed this forum, which had been outnumbering the General SWG forum both on post count and on threads with a factor 4:1, has suddenly dropped dramatically in size while the General forum stayed much the same... what happened? Forum warfare?

I didn't even notice the post counts, mostly because I usually only view "Recent" threads. It looks like everything before 2006 was deleted though ala SoE style.

Talk about bias... the general forum still has posts dating back to 2003. If they're going to remove old posts as 'irrelevant', then surely, everything before 2006 can be removed from the General forum as well, as all that applies to a game that no longer exists. Sorry, but this really calls for tinfoil hats... does a certain company not like seeing how many of us are still ticked off, and would they maybe rather see the General forum look more active and prosperous??

Mmmmm yeah , I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with you on this. There really is no other reason to do what they have done to this forum.
MMORPG long ago started taking orders from SOE with respect to how they moderate here. SOE and Sony are extremely paranoid.
Sad but true many of the last changes have this bad taste on them.
$OE are allowed more and more to hunt down diferent opinions on portals wrongly consider themselves as independent anymore. The like to show others the look of independent but they smell bad like $OE.

Hey guys!
The post count in this forum did not go down; the post count in General went up. The SWG forum area was kinda messy and General/Current SWG sections were basically the same thing; I merged those two to help save space.

Thanks for throwing some light on the subject, Taera.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

OK , the Current and General Forum were merged and lets assume place got saved although no post was deleted.
The "Official we are angry at SOE thread" resided inside General Forum, why it had to move ? You moved it in vets section to make it look like only vets are angry at $OE and not subscription payers.
That is definitally wrong ! you will find people people dislike $OE everywhere and it is definitally a overall general phenomenon what belongs in the General Forum !
The Vet forum is not your recycle bin it hosts the ideas and posts of the majority of your portal visitors regarding this game !

I noticed the merge. Nice of you to pop in and clarify though ^_^.

I know what you mean. I'm lovin' the beta, but the marketing/publishing does seem a tad on the shabby side, to say the least.
POTBS is likely to be the third "Platform Publishing" (aka, we're afraid to call it SOE) co-published game flameout disaster. I've tried the open beta and it's the most shallow thing I've seen since the NGE. The graphics are horrible as well. Land combat is ridiculously stupid.
But then, I hold any pirate game up to the standards of Sid Meier's Pirates! Now THAT is who should be developing a pirate MMORPG...
The game has some good points, but it needs a modern graphics engine and at least another year's worth of development to be ready. Of course it will get neither and will fail as a result.
But the SWG Vet forum had over 3 times the post count of the SWG current. You have merged all those forums together which now gives the false immpression that current is vastly more active than the disgruntled vet forum. Should you not swap current and vet forums around in the list as you know that the vet forum is vastly more active. This would be more relevant to your customers who use MMORPG, which means you are serving our needs better.
Seems to be a really wierd thing to do, unless as we all know $OE has basicly told you to do it. To once again try and mislead future or past customers.
Im just stating my hunch that these changes seem fishy, they are a benefit to $OE, not your MMORPG customers. Theres absolutely no denying that.
And yes, there's a commonly accepted view that MMORPG is extremely biased in favor of SOE. While a few "temp bans" might have been an extreme measure there's been a few that were without any indication of an offence other then it was relating to me, a "vet", who posted in a different thread then the "vet forums".
Yeah, and if anyone believes that I have beachfront property to sell you in Nevada.
The crackdown on the vets STARTED when a SWG mod from the SOE forums (Virrago) FIRST showed up here. I see a coincidence. I also note that this site now has many SOE ads. It didn't before that day. I was born at night but not last night.
LOL i bumped one of the old posts in the new general discussion to see what would happen it was i think deleted.
the pawning been going on for some time just more so now..
but one way to get there posts down is to bump all the old hate ones as they get deleted..
been real been fun but i dont see me posting a lot around here from now on..
but i cant blame them as they need money to keep the site open..
Thank you for the post but I will need to agree with the OP on this.. I can recall when I could come to this site and talk and be very open about SWG... it didn't matter if I was in the current swg, or forums for the Vets,.. I could be open and answer any questions others had about this game. About 3 months ago I started getting banned for this.
People would ask in the current swg forums if they should play this game,... and I posted my thoughts.. I got a 1 week ban,... someone made a post about why people would not come back to SWG even if a classic server was made,.. and I posted why I would not come back,... yep another ban.
So, now that I have been staying away and not voiceing my thoughts about SWG,... no bans! So, you can't help but wonder...... hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Been there done that:
Asherons Call,SWG,AOC,D&D,COH,Anarchy Online,DAOC,EVE,Guild Wars,LOTRO,POTBS,WAR,WW2, and Rift

I have to agree with dark on this one. It seems VERY fishy. Especially that the two said merged really didnt have issues in the first place (minus name similarities, why not just delete one?). It just looks like spin doctoring from where im sitting.
Why would one move us in second place and give them more posts from another section? Hmmm..

That and $8.00 will get you a stack of pancakes and a cup of bottomless coffee at IHOP. I have heard of what happened to the reviewer over at Gamespot for his review of Cain and Lyche - I immediately thought of this division of the Vets from the current here and my only question is did you leave a nice tip for the watress?

The general section is normally at the top of our forums list; I put the new General section above the Vet Lounge because, well, that's where it belongs.
The forums were merged because both the "General" area and "SWG Current" areas dealt with current gameplay. I would think you'd be happy that there are now less forums dealing with the current game.
SOE had no contact with me or input about these changes.
