RuneScape's Econemy, Good or Bad?

Leone1989Leone1989 Member Posts: 6

Im 124 and i have ben playing for 2 years, and one thing i hate about the game.. the econemy. its realli bad.  The only way people make cash now a days is being a merchant. Almost everyone does it and its hard for other ppl to make cash who live off selling items, such as mage logs, sharks, whips, other stuff like that.

Recently, jagex has made a update where you put in items u want for how much u want and they would be sold, without the hassle of tradeing some 1 or any of that bs, But some how merchants just cant live like that, they have to ruin what jagex is trying to do.

I think people ruin the game. not jagex but stupid people. Money isnt everything bro,  Im 124 and have a lil over 50M+ i dont merchant, yea i wish i had a p hat, but hell i love my stats and thats where i get my cash from, i will never turn to merchant to make money.

But In your eyes, Runescape econemy? good or bad?

My opioin, Bad.

It is very hard to make $ on runescape without spending alot of time at it. Everything takes forever to get anything accomplished, so if you have just a  few min a day to play you can't really get anything done at all.  Even if you play for an hour a day, it will be very difficult for you to actually get ahead. It is set up now that in order to make  a profit at all you have to gather your own rescources with the skills. and even then after  all your hard work there is too much competition on the street to be able to get a fair price for all your work in a timely manner. All player made goods move very slowly at the exchange... as for people complaining about a magic log costing 1k.. have you tried to chop one? they take forever ... is why noone even with 99 wc likes to cut them at all. If they speed up how long it takes to gather rescources it would help the  game alot, because you could actually have time to get your own supplies, not making them more expensive than the actual items that you make them in to. The end product should be worth more than what it is made out of, but as long as supply and demand  puts no value on player made items this will not change. I do agree that merchanting is the easiest way to make $, but it is part of the problem with the street prices. The people with insane amounts of cash can buy all the rescources in the exchange and you are stuck in line behind them, they got in there early enough buying everything at min, so you are forced to buy higher, unlike pre exchange where  you had just as much chance at buying at min as anyone else.

The exchange just makes it easier for merchants to buy all of one item in runescape at a lower price, and then have it in another spot selling higher. but with jagex setting the prices, they are unable to make the profits they used to per item, so that means they just have to buy more of the item at a time in order to make a  profit they consider to be decent.  The problem with the exchange is that you are unable to see what is for sale and how much before purchasing anything. there is no browse option, and though someone might actually buy the items for sale if they do not actually see that it is for sale it might not come to mind that they want to buy it.  If there was a way to browse the exchange without having to actually search for every item there it would make it much easier to buy and sell on there. .. All i see now with the current system is major back up, where as before you could sell items in a few min if you wanted to take the time to go to merchant worlds, now it can take weeks to sell something .. if not longer.

I agree with both of  yous. =]

i wish merchants would relise Runescape is for fun and skills, not to make cash.. i want it like the old days the better stats you had the more you own.  nowadays it there a 126 with 2000+ total with like 20m to his name and a lvl 25 with a blue p hat with a total of 600 skill... that lvl 25 owns over the 126.. whice is sad in my eyes =[

yes i want a p hat i just would never have the cash for one =l   not with p hat merchants...

The recent update has completely changed the economy. The Grand Exchange. Prices in the shops vary according to the prices of the exchange. Minimum and selling prices remain, but buying prices have increased dramatically. I like this very much. It stops exploiting shops by buying and reselling for more. At the grand exchange, this system is higher risk. You don't always make profit.

It has become way easier and faster to make money. You just put items up for sale, set the price (5% more or less than the average selling price) and the next day you collect your money. In other words. You spend 5 minutes, and that's it. No more running around advertising for your items. No more B-sales.

Rare item prices have gone through the roof. Some items sell for millions.

I'd say the economy of Runescape is becoming good. It's not quite there yet, but it's improving.

The only problem that I see with it are rares. Jagex should just replace all discontinued items in the game with cash.

The notion that graphics, or anything else for that matter, are anywhere near as important as gameplay/fun is so utterly ridiculous that anyone who shares such a view should be placed in an asylum.
