Hey guys
I'm looking for a new MMORPG to play, here is my wishlist....
Suitable for solo players as well as parties (I mostly play solo)
No general PVP (PVP on specific servers or in specific areas is fine)
Preferably historical/fantasy settings, I'm not a great fan of sci-fi
No *requirement* for 'crafting' or similar - I've no objection to gathering a few herbs or whatever but the thought of having to spend hours collecting ores bores me silly!
Plenty of quests to keep the interest up
A reasonable levelling system - put in the work and get the rewards is great. Being at capped level in a couple months probably means it's too easy. Having to spend *years* levelling skills to max (Hello 9dragons) is not gonna happen!
I'm not too bothered by grinding, although preferably at the higher levels rather than the opening levels!
I'm happy to pay to play either in purchase, subscription and item mall / cash shop
Games I have played over the last few years:
Maplestory - good fun for a long time, too many hackers, too many kids
Last Chaos - played it in beta for a couple months, good fun but not polished at the time, might be worth a look now
WoW - for some reason I just didn't 'click' with WoW, I should have done, it offers everything I need but it just didn't grab me like I thought it would
9Dragons - played for the last 4 months, was great fun but with the latest patch the possibility of maxxing skills just went out of the window. Also, supposed to be a real grind fest at higher levels....
Any suggestions?

sounds like you may like eq2 or lotro, those have about everything your looking for, lotro may even be a little more solo friendly for ya as well, but yeah eq2 or lotro, both awesome games in my opinion.
playing eq2 and two worlds
Thanks for the speedy reply! I'll go have a look at them both
your welcome m8 both games do have a trial, but as far as trials go you never get the full experience of how good a game is, or vice versa, at least not one i ever experienced, but whatever game you decide send me a mail at this site and i can refer you to a guild in several games if you wish.
playing eq2 and two worlds
I played EQ2 for about 6 months. Got really "grind" intensive. That was towards it's launch tho' and things can change.
Take a look at Age of Conan. Doesn't come out for at least a few month's, but it looks really promising. It's not for the kiddy's, but there are some interesting feature's. Player cities, pvp player cities, spellweaving. and the classes look fun. Something to think about.
There's City of Heroes/City of Villains. I like that 1 too.
Good luck in your mmo hunt. Now, back to mine.
About to D/L the trial of LOTR, hopefully will hear about Conan as well, that'll keep me busy for a while
Well, I would D/L it - but at 7.2g it's gonna take forever so maybe I'll have to add it to my Xmas list and spend the next two weeks trying to find the 'life' I one had before I started to play online games

After playing lotro, Tabula rasa, Last Chaos, Rappelz, Wow, Lineage 2, GW, Silkroad, .... I left all those games behind for Perfect World. (at least until Age of Conan comes out)
Perfect World is the first game since Lineage 2 where I really want to level my char. It takes all the advantages of Lineage 2 + Wow (and also other games) and puts them together, its a Lineage2/Wow mix.
Regarding your concerns:
- there is crafting, but its not mandatory. If you dont want to you can play fine without it (even though crafting is very easy and material gathering is fast, you don't need many items. And even then, you can purchase all of the items from player shops or from the auctionneer) (player crafted items have better stats than NPC merchant items). But as I said, you can drop or purchase all of the weapons/items you needs so if you dont like even this easy craft you don't need to.
- plenty of quests : there are more than 5000 quests. Doing quests is the fastest way to level.
- game is f2p, with a shop. The shop is not needed at all. If you use the shop you will probably level faster, but I never felt the need to use it.
- you can do everything solo, but partying with friends is the most fun imho.
- it has all the features of most mmorpgs, including free flight and more. Check the features list.
The game is very complete, it was originally a chinese mmorpg (30 million players, the press calls it the "asian wow"), with china, japan, philipines, malaysia, brazil servers. Euro and US servers are comming in 2008
The game has been released in asia for a long time, with a current level cap of 130. The malaysian severs started the English open beta last month (current level cap still 105), you can join now its very polished already (some English translation glitches still, but no problem). These English Malaysian servers have huge Euro and US communities, with many guilds.
Yea i think perfect world is the best free mmorpg out there at the moment,
