Anyone hear anything about the relative size of the explorable area? Are we talkin a 30minute jog from end to end or a multi-day horse trot.
On one hand I supose it doesn't matter if the focus is on RvR. On another I do enjoy the "realness" of a massive area to explore.
Thoughts?

From what they said i gathered about the size of DAoC At release, Not including Frontiers or DF.
But they of course will add more areas thru expansions.

Heres an answer directly from the Q and A today.]
<MMORPG_Taera> Atrax :asks: Do you think, the world we're playing in, is large enough? Comparing to DAOC?
<[WAR]EAMythic_Gersh> It depends on what year you're comparing us to
<[WAR]EAMythic_Gersh> WAR is going to be a pretty large game, with alot of content and places to vist. In general our Zones are larger and more intresting than DAOC
<[WAR]EAMythic_Gersh> Admitedly in terms of sheer landmass WAR is not going to launch larger then a veteran MMO with multiple expansions

Zones are larger, but maybe less zones then DAoC. Will be smaller then DAoC is currently cause DAoC has to be a Vet MMO if not only EQ is. And no one wants a land mass as big as EQ with its 19+ expansions.
It Was a Cryptic Answer. I woulda just told the public "Its big enough" (/msg devbot) "Boot Atrax. His Questions are unappropriate, and please filter out future relative questions to the game." And i'd do it in a british accent.

I'm much more interested in the quality of the zones, rather than the size of the zones . . . or the world.
Frankly speaking, I played Lineage 2 for quite a while . . . and saw the game through a half-dozen of its expansions. While these expansions were great (especially since they are all free), the biggest problem I ran into was - with the growing size of the world - it spread out the players too much.
This not only separated you from some of your guild members, but it also made finding PVP rather difficult at times.
I like the idea that if I wanted to PvE (with or without a group) we could go way way way out into the country to fight/quest and be relatively safe from pvp. But for PvP we know where to go.

ya i would enjoy nice size zones not to large but not to big, about 4 times bigger then 90% of WOWs zones would be nice
lol does that even make sense?
just thaught id add that chicken in...
i would prefer zones to be about the size of say the barrens in WoW over the size of netkolos forest in EQ2 as that zone is HUGE and made my comp lag lol but barrens size or even either east or west commanlands on eq2 were about the maximum size i like for a zone as its explorable in a nice afternoon full of running around instead of 8 hours to get the whole place uncovered lol
DAoC was the best MMO ever when it had no expansions, and still the best after SI came out. Once came ToA it went far downhill. Then came catacombs and they said they must make a server without one of the expos, which was good but not good enough, there was still too much land and not enough people for it.
Expansions that increase the landmass by huge amounts are very bad , it means that players are going to be scattered everywhere and it creates a very boring world of relying on LFG and random messaging to meet people.
I would prefer zones that do not take forever to cross. From what I've seen in other MMOs with massive landscapes is that there is a lot of wasted space. I would much rather have a smaller zone with a lot of detail, and something to do in every corner.
I can tell you from playing at D3 that , at least some of your wish is going to be granted. There sure was something to do everywhere in the starter area! I really got the experience that it was very actionpacked!
So true, but I hope the designated PvP zones are more compact, but I hope that the PvE zones have large open valleys, caves, mountains , dungeons, etc in them although I don't want them to just be an open field..thats kind of lazy by the devs and boring for the players.
Though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.

So true. It isn't about how much space you put in a MMO, it's about the way(s) and what enviroments("things" sound as "mere placeholders")you put in it.
