Hey all,
I've been reading tons about the latest games for the past few weeks now. However theres nothing that seems to stand out, at least not something that is released yet.
I'll post my gaming history so you guys know what kind of game i'm lookin for.
Played UO from '98 to 2003/4, i quit this game cause they ruined it with item style pvp and basicly cause after 5 years it lost the magical feeling it once had. I still think of that game as the best ever made though.
Moved to Guildwars after that, i loved the pvp in that one, until they messed it up bigtime with both the expansions. played that for about 2 years.
Been playing Metin2 (UK servers) since June this year, quit because its such a grind and i basicly did all there is to do in a rather limited game, only thing that was keeping me there was a great community.
Also played some Shadowbane, DAOC and Conquer online in between, but none of those got me hooked up.
Basicly i'm looking for something that can give me the same feeling UO once did. In my eyes that game had it all. No lvl or item based rubbish, it was about player skill, which is quite important for me.
It should be some sort of sandbox where i can do what i feel like doing, pvp, pve, trading, crafting quests, etc.
I know most will point out Darkfall, and that is indeed the kind of game i am looking for. But i also remember saying that when i quit UO in '03. AFter that i kinda forgot about it and i was astonned when i found out a few weeks ago it still wasnt released. Age of Conan and Warhammer Online attract me as well, but those are still several months away.
I tried Voyage Century cause that looked close to what i wanted, but after playing it for a while, i found out the whole piracy thing isnt my thing.
I hope there is something that i forgot looking at. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Eve-Online? It mean, i was made partially by people disppointed how UO went, and partially by people who liked Elite (in fact, most of them played both).
Sanbox, PvP, Trading, Questing, being a real Pirate..its all in there.
But its very harsh to the players. Its great or very annoying, depending on your view of things.
Really, if you are looking for a sandbox MMO, there are two choices (used to be 3.) EVE or A Tale in the Desert. ATITD has a cult following, i played it, but never really got into it.
EVE is probably gonna be your best bet, and there are 14 day trials floating around everywhere. Give it a try- worst case scenario is that you don't like it.
i never bothered with it cause i'm not really a sci-fi fan. I've heard its good though so i may as well give it a go.
eve and the saga of ryzom are the only two real sandbox games i know of that are left which are fun, if you never played swg before the precu you then may like its sandbox style the way it is now because you cant compare to how it used to be.
playing eq2 and two worlds
cant someone just copy eve in a differend non spaceship setting?.. would get 1mill subs even if it read that on the box
Age of Conan
|Mortal Online|Gnostaria|
Eve hands down.
be prepared thou, with a time based skill progression, you can't grind your way up, you can't max out, so to be competitive you have to specialize, and likely from day 1.
C:ustomize a character with high Perception and high intel, good willpower won't hurt.
Then decide what you want to do and don't stray from the course.

EVE-Online Seems to fit perfectly in place with what your looking for. Ive been playing for 6 mounths or so and from alot of people that Ive talked to that played UO they said its basicly like UO in space.
Just a FEW Features:
-Theres no levels.(You buy skill books and they learn by them selves)
-Very little grind.(Your always required to do something different)
-Completely player run.(Economics, Politics, History)
-Intense PvP(If you die you lose everything thats on you(Major Alliances of up to 1k plus members fighting over systems.))
