Well at least we know this game has potential and could possibly be a great success if they keep up with the future content and listen to the customer base, TR should be around for a long time since we lack sci fi mmorpgs. Averaging around a 8.0 is pretty good for any type of mmorpg.
On the other hand..
When Stargate Worlds hit the shelves, I can only see this taking some of the TR customers away. I got a funny feeling that Stargate Worlds is going to be pretty similiar, but I have been known to be wrong as well.

given the recent revelations, any review from gamespot is suspect
Tabula Rasa failed, and will continue to fail. Those reviews mean nothing and looking at their history they review EVERY game high, so to say TR rated high from those sources is FAIL
TR will be the next Horizon!
What recent revelations are those that would cast doubts on GS's reviews?

That games reviewer Jeff Gerstmann was sacked from Gamespot after a poor review of Eidos' new game 'Kane and Lynch'. It seems Eidos were so incensed at his review that they leveraged their advertising participation on Gamespot in order to have Mr. Gerstmann fired.

If You don't play the game, then WTF are You doing in TR forum, because You don't even believe it could be game for You in future?
MMORPG.COM has worst forum editor ever exists

Which is a QnA from GS that gives the official facts of the situation and shows it to be nothing more than rumor mill. Way to keep dragging this out after it was all cleared up.
Anyway, TR is a good game and whether you have a tin foil hat and think aliens abducted the editors at GS or are brainwashing the game reviewers here at MMORPG.com, they are the same reviews every other game goes through and they turned out well. That does say a lot about the game.
Ratings and revies nowadays are too often just marketing propaganda and hype games... i dont care what those review magazines write, they are wrong anyway and are very one sided. All those ratings for new blockbuster mmorpg games in the last 2 years are totally overrated and failed big time.
I've been playing since Pre-Release and have a good idea of what TR is. I like what I see, and I enjoy what I am playing. It isn't a game for everyone who is so used to the same generic MMO model, I enjoy the change even if it may seem small to some.
Agreed the reviews these days are actally just popagrada however TR is no means a failer, it's had a shakey start, hell MOST mmos had that, look at EvE and AO they were near death after a few months... As long as the content updates and patches are consistant this game has a lot going for it... It's just as it stands it's very limted, throw in a PVP CP system and a ton of working quests and BoB's your corp
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
for all you people saying the ratings are lies, i hope when they rate a game you like playing high, you come here and say they are lieing.

Well when i talk about failure, i mean with it that the ratings were not correct at all and reviews didnt show the whole game, means too many games are unfinished and rushed on the market with loads of bugs, performance problems, missing game content and whatever...thats the failure for me, if the game itself is not a failure will show the future...but many games just dont hold their promises and thats the problem.
If you did play i.e. Dark & Light, Face of Mankind, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa ...you see similarities with their reviews and ratings and the failure these games, 3 out of these games didnt hold their promises, we will see what will happen with TR.
On the other hand, its all about your taste and if you like in general the gameplay & content of a game. For example, i did play ww2online for over 3,5 years, thats a long time and many game reviews did only rat this game with 5.x-7, so low ratings...well for me it was a blast for these 3 years and one of the best mmorpgs/mmofps i ever played. You see, its also a lot about your indvidiual prefernces or dislikes but maybe iam curios what people will write after they did play TR for longer than just 6 months. TR has lots of potential and i wish that it will succeed.
And yes, dont change my opinion about several blockbuster mmorpgs...the ratings and reviews were just propaganda.
**TROLL ALERT**
Today: Warning, a troll has been sighted in your neighborhood!! He was seen this morning escaping from his home underneath his bridge. All be aware that he is known to be extremely pessimistic and will do everything he can to make you feel like sh*t!! lol
Why oh why do I respond to this drama-queen bull$hit??!! I cannot help but give into the temptation. Just so I can be clear of the pertinent points made in this thread, I'll list them in a numbered list using the same apocalyptic drama-queen tactics that are being used by the trolls:
1. All reviews by game/magazine companies are wrong / false / propaganda / hype.
- Really? ALL magazines? So they all just... lie about games being good or bad? Yikes... and since all of those sources listed by the original poster are.. well... different sources.. does this mean that these companies are consorting against the gaming community like some big secret group of evil men in black suits who wish to impede on our gaming lives? Interesting.... I had no idea... I suppose if one person got fired from 1 of those sources... we can ass u me that all of them are totally bull*hit. How do these review sites stay in business if they give you false reviews of games and then using those reviews, you go out and buy the game? How many people will be screwed over before nobody goes to the site anymore?? It's the worst kind of conspiracy!
- This leaves me wondering though.... are all of those who play this game (yes I'm one of them but not a fan boy, game's got problems but I enjoy it thoroughly) and give it a thumbs up... are they part of that same "secret game review men-in-black" community? Oh and, this website... TR being the highest votes (funny.. average is 8/10 and this site is rating it at 8.4/10) are those people voting for the game full of sh*t too?
2. The end is near!!! The world will soon fail and be destroyed completely in a puff of smoke!! No, not earth.. the world of Tabula Rasa!! Be warned!! Hear me now people for I can see into the future!! The end is near!!! This will be another... SWG / Horizon / <insert name of failed game here>.
- I see one of you nearly everyday on the streets of Downtown Chicago. You hold up a big cardboard sign "The end is near". You also ask me for change and then smoke crack rocks in the basement of a crack house with Tiandra the transvestite. Look, quite pretending your Ms. Cleo and move along to another street corner with your crack and cardboard sign.
This is just.... propaganda... figity jibity gook!!!! You are employed by Blizzard aren't you!!! I KNEW IT!!!
PS. I give your review of the review of the review a C out of 11!!!!
You even didnt read my post, how i define a failure. It has nothing to do with pessemistic attitudes it has to do with facts. If you really think that those reviews about Dark & Light, Vanguard and Tabula Rasa as well Face Of Manking ( dont even know if you ever played these games) did hold their promises, well than i have a totally different understanding of reviews than you. I dont talk only about TR, i also talk about releases in the last 2 years around and in general about overrated ratings/reviews. So keep it down and stay cool .
Troll: But that review is just... bull...shhh.. uhhh wait I actually like this game but.. ummm.. k
*inserts foot in mouth*
Sadly somehow after reading this post it kinda makes the troll post before it look better (or at least more reasoned)
Well guess its always a good thing to vent

Honestly I did read some of your stuff. Have you ever seen that TV show "Penn and Teller's Bullshit"? I like the show but I don't take them seriously. The problem is, they always choose people whom are extremely to one side of the argument. If you want to talk about how precise the reviews are than let's be fair. You pick the games where the games failed but what about the ones which are succeeding? Also, don't you agree it's difficult to predict the outcome of a game? Everyone was excited about Vanguard and it was a failure but who would have known that until it was released? Do you really beleive that TR's launch was as epic as a failure as Vanguard? One more thing real fast... my post is not a serious post... I actually feel moderately retarded for putting that post up and while I'm bored at work the least I can hope for is some entertaining responses to my totally dumb/dramatic post.
At this point, it's just too hard to say what this game has in store for us because it's been out for 1 month. I will agree with one thing that makes reviews of MMORPG's kind of worthless.... those reviews have a VERY VERY short shelf life. MMORPG's (at least the good ones) are CONSTANTLY changing... they are evolving/patching/upgrading/expanding constantly.... so while the game is a 10/10 today it is a 1/10 in 3 months because the f'd somethign up that pisses everyone off (hello SWG). So really... unless the review was written in the last month... it's trash. So see? lol I can be somewhat agreeable! : )
As a member of the video game media, and an ex employee of gamestop, I can say that yes, many major game review magazines (such as Game Informer) and websites (such as Gamespot) have slanted reviews in favor of better profits.
The bottom line is, no, big name review companies like Gamestop don't allow bad reviews for high paying clients. They allow 7.0 reviews for high paying clients, but they don't generally allow below that. Great evidence to support this is that virtually every major magazine and website rates kane & lynch at about a 7.0 (with the only exception being Gamespot), yet the average player review on websites such as Gamespot and IGN is roughly between 2.0 and 3.0 More often than not, the player review average for games tend to be within a point of the official reviews.
The bottom line is, it's just good business practice. You don't want to push away the people that are paying you to keep your website / magazine rolling.

Yeah your postings are really dramatically lol. Seems like you dont get it what a write, with failure i mean that these reviews were not correct about those games i mentioned, dont talk about the game itself if it succeeds with subscribtion and stays as a major mmoprg on the market after relase or not. I dont talk about as a failure to launch this games, i talk about reviews, their content and ratings.
Seems like you cant remember the reveiws of Dark & Light, Vanguard and FoM when you write such statements like above. Are you sure those reviews in the past did hold their promises for release ?
Well i think totally different and when you have the time to read older postings before releases and after which are discussing reviews and working links for it, you maybe will have at least a clue what iam talking about. Did you play the games i mentioned, did you beta test them and did you read the reviews...well i dont think so, you just throw me some arguements cause you cant stand my opinion, but iam fine with that.
At this point I dont see TR falling off the mmo scale despite the mixed reviews on what a scale from 1 to 10 is in the mmorpg department. If games like swg and ao are around after the brutual onslaught from people, this game will be around for quite some time still.
I suppose it would depend on the rating criteria. I wouldn't imagine a Game store that would poo poo a product so as to discourage sales. Not to mention any deals they may have worked out with the gaming companies.

I was originally going to pass Tabula Rasa up, because of the bad word of mouth put out during beta, and because it didn't seem like it would be my type of game. After one positive review after another, I broke down and decided to purchase the game. And I was surprised - I actually enjoy playing the game. There's constant action, and always something to do. Altho, with the lack of endgame content, I think one particular review I read might be corect: the gist of which was that TR is a game that is different enough and fun enough to play through once or twice with different characters; after which you might want to cancel your subscription and move on. In that, it's much like a single player game.
The experience of having played it however, is well worth the $40 price tag.
