Lag for Australian/NZ players?

EntropionEntropion Member Posts: 20

I was just wondering (since this game is an FPS) how are people playing from Australia finding it playing on servers based in the US? Playing WoW I normally used to sit on pings of 500+ which would surely be unplayable if you were trying to play FPS... so anyone from the Oceania region playing this? Having trouble with latency or is it ok? Thanks in advance.

It's not an FPS; TR uses target lock and tactical maneuvering to make combat fast-paced, but it's definitely not an FPS.

In Auckland here, getting 250-300 to the West Coast servers (same as I got with SWG). Latency isn't an issue (server-side lag is, sometimes, but that hurts everyone equally).

I am in Israel and i am getting around 300 ping ...up to 500+ on bad cable days

Even FPS are playable up to 150 ping , TR is blend between FPS and RPG so you can double that margin -

resulting in 300 ping being perfectly playable.

(only problem i get is while quickly switching weapons, but i am not sure if its bug or lag)

I'm getting around 180ms on average from the ACT on the Orion server, this can be a little higher during high population times.

I'm using an ADSL2+ connection that gives me roughly 10m/1m so that is probably helping.

I am on Optus cable - usually around the 300 ping and 70-90 FPS. Perfectly playable.

As people have mentioned it looks very FPS like due to the interface and it using guns - but under the hood there are dice rolls happening.

Playing fron NE Victoria in Australia on a low end Bigpond 256/64 connection (yes, yes...  moving companies soon) my ping does vary a little (150-350 usually, occasionally 500 or so).  It's nothing outrageous and 99.9% of the time I hardly notice the difference between 150 and 500 ping.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting ;)

Yeah, I'm on bog-standard ADSL1 near Melbourne and get the same pings as above.  I've never noticed latency to be a problem.  Good hunting.
