then what should be the age "require" (in your opinion, of course) to begin/play a mmorpg these day? I'm pretty curious why there are so many people hating them. You just have to decline their party invites anyway, am I right?
Meh, I'd say age 30. All others get to take a test for a minimal amount of maturity
All in all, age requirements will do almost nothing. What people complain about is the kidlike behavior plaguing most games, and no, refusing party invites will also do almost no good in the end.

No age restrictions. I like annoying, antagonistic and cleverly deceptive people in MMORPGs to some extent. Keeps you on your toes.

Is there any option for "I'm not a frikking stereotype?" Some kids are mature. Some are. When people see a kid that openly announces hes 8 or something and pisses you off why do they seem to always think this same though every time "OMFG FAUXING ALL KID MANG SUCKZ0R MY P1NIS" Anyways there are some kids out there that are mature, and has the holy power of intellect.
I say 15 or older, I also think that most of those little kids that play p2p like wow is because theirs parents play too

16-17 and only allowed to play 1 hour a day or less. Children should be doing something more productive with their time like doing their homework, joining a sport team, enjoying a hobby like airplane models or joining a scout or computer club. You know, doing things that will actually affect their life. by 16-17 I will hope they will have learned enough about responsibility that I won't have to watch over their shoulder to see who they're talking too, let alone whether they've done their chores and homework FIRST before playing.

Quiet, you annoying kid.

I think the minimum age should be no younger than 13. Not because of immaturity ( there's enough asshats in their 30's and 40's to blow that argument out of the water ), but because there should not be young children unsupervised at any time on the internet, especially where they can be accessed by diseased minded perverts.

Ugh I see what you are talking about but I disagree...
Generally you are saying kids in that age range shouldent barely play mmo's but full adults can spend loads of time?
Sorry but there is something wrong with that. When you are an adult lets say mid age married with kids it is not ok to spend hours a day and neglect your kids. As an adult you have way way mor responsibilities then a teenager that you cannot ignore. Now when your 16-17 you have no kids, bills to pay, ect, basically way less responsibilities.

As an adult you have way way mor responsibilities then a teenager that you cannot ignore. Now when your 16-17 you have no kids, bills to pay, ect, basically way less responsibilities. I monitor myself and barely play more than 2 hours a day (if that, some days I don't play at all) I also have responsibilities, which take away time from video games. Children have little to no responsibilities/chores to deal with, so they can play more if given the option. I would rather not give them that option and have them do something more productive. It may sound "unfair" but believe me, there were a lot of thing my dad didn't want me to do as a child and though I thought my dad was being "unfair" (I never even got my first SNES until I was 14-15) I'm kind of glad he tried to minimize my game time. Parents will always do things that are "unfair" to us even though we might see them doing the same thing they're contradicting. That's part of raising a family and believe me, it will happen.
i don't think the problem is age i've seen kids being more mature in the game than some adults, and so what? If you can't take it quit the game or just ignore them. The Bbggest problem might be the adults saying things that childeren shouldn't hear (yet).
I usually don't have a problem with "kids", most of them are still respectful and the worst you have to deal with is poor spelling. It is generally the middle schooler / early high schooler where they are generally obnoxious as hell. Still, MMO's have plenty of ways in which you can ignore those players you find troublesome and not every young teenager (near teenager) is a complete asshat so I can deal with it.
Pretty much anybody over the age of 12 can be mature, but that's not to say there aren't asshat adults. I'm in high school myself and I'm constantly annoyed by other people being immature, but there are some people who are mature.
I don't see the connection between being older than a certain age and being mature. Some of the worst guys, seen in noobishness, was 30+ guys who believe they are mature. While some 14 year olds act much more mature. If they understand English and can behave they should be able to play, regardless of age.
Perhaps the correct question should be: do you think a psychological evaluation should be required prior to being accepted into a MMORPG?
You answer a series of "what would you do in this scenario" questions and then you are shifted to a server that represents people of your maturity level.

I don't mean this as an insult, so don't read it that way. But I don't see how someone who is your age is qualified to judge maturity. I'm not even sure anyone who's my age is qualified.
It's kind of like when you have a parent tell you to do something because it's for your own good. You couldn't begin to understand why they are telling you to do it, so they don't even try to explain it to you. They just make sure you do it and leave the reasoning for you to figure out later when you're able to.
I just don't think a 16 year old knows what maturity really means. You don't even know what the real world is all about yet. You may think you do, but you don't. You can't.

I would rather focus on gold sellers and the like rather than immature players.
If you are not being responded to directly, you are probably on my ignore list.
agreed, sometimes i actually find it annoying/weird to play with a really mature community
they can be bad in game, but theyre even worse in vent

I think it is an issue with maturity and not age.
People over 22, 30, and in some cases even 50 can be immature.
Chuck Norris jokes are now mainstream.

I just hate hearing whiney child voices in games that are supposed to be rated M for mature...man that's annoying.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Aaaaaaand which mmorpgs are rated M for Mature beside AoC?
