I used to spend a lot when I was younger and had more free time. But alas, now at 25 I have other responsibilities to take care of... I haven't bought a new game in years :( I used to play 2-3 MMO's at one point, now I only play one (I switch between them)

    Good choice.

I think i was on a mission to buy everything that hit the stores at one point not knowing the game Developers were going to Pump out another the next day or darn close to it.

It seemed like either an Expansion or part 65 hot the Store before i could finish the first  one.

As far as online gaming goes I think it's time i gave it a rest as well.

Top Boxed games for me were Gothic3 and Oblivion. Top Online was Everquest.  Everything sense has not been the same.

I'm not sure what you are implying by stating your age, but I am 27 years old, married, have a 5 almost 6 yr old child and I still spend probably a few hundred a year on games, not counting subscriptions. So age and responsibilities don't hold a person back, it's something else.

Would scare me to count that,I started playing when I was 10 with a zx81 and a few months later an atari 2600,I am now 34 and always had a console or computer of some type,Currently my pc a playstation 2 and the wii(the wife talked me into the wii and glad she did) so over 24 years quite a few MMo`s with the subs and new games all the time it would be very scary to put a price on it.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

My first computer game was Wacraft one, and I have been stuck every since.

Total games I've bought/played in just the last 10 years, it may come close to $500.00. Once I started playing EQ in 1999 I pretty much played it exclusively. I did take a bit of a break to play a few Half-Life releases and Unreal Tournament 2004. I also picked up AO and DAoC, but didn't play either for very long.

Once EQII, WoW and a few FPS's hit the market in 2004 I bought nearly all the new releases and tried them out. This of course doesn't include the monthly memberships. Then this years I bought LOTRO, but I don't play it any longer. After playing Vanguard Beta, I wasn't playing on buying it so that is one of the few titles I didn't buy.

EQ: PoP - $50 (was worth it)

    EQ: LoY - $50 (crap)

EQ: LDoN - $50 (was fun)

    EQ: GoD - $50 (bleh)

DAoC - $50 (was worth it)

DAoC: SI - $50 (was worth it)

    EQ2 - $50 (worth it)

    EQ2: DoF - $50 (worth it)

    EQ2:KoS - $50 (worth it)

    EQ2:EoF - $50 (worth it)

    WoW - $50 (was ok)

    WoW:TBC - $50 (was ok)

    Vanguard SoH - $50 (bleh)

My Girlfriend that was going to be my wife left me because i spend to much time Gameing (outch)

Almost. Actually ditched my last GF after it got more serious cuz of all that attention, time and money that was needed and expected and could be better spent gaming or whatever else sparked my interest on a whim :)

and back to the question... over the 10 or so years I actually buy games instead of d/l them... could be a few thousand I guess...

Subscribtions: EVE, SWTOR WOW, WAR, DDO, VG, AOC, COV, FFXI, GW, RFO, Aion
    +plenty of F2P, betas, trials

Female Dwarf player: WOW, VG, WAR, DDO
    .
Due to the recent economic crisis and spending cuts the light at the end of the tunnel was turned off. Sincerely, God.

I have spent so much money into consoles, games, subscriptions, and computer upgrades that if I had never purchased any of them, I would likely be 20+ thousand dollars richer. Easily.

You have made some friends no doubt. I did from EQ, But that was a Long time ago. You have me with some of the expantions, but I do have most of the ones from EQ. Very steady list though. Hats off to ya.

A few hundred is really nothing when it comes to buying games this day and age, lets be honest, a few hundred can buy you probably 4 games in new condition, and if you're smart, you can probably get about 8 for a $20.00 price tag as well. and maybe you can get lucky and find them even cheaper if they're in bargain. But again, whether it's 4 or 8 games, that's really nothing in comparison to how many NES and SNES games I used to own/buy. Oh, and yes, responsibilities DO hold back playtime because you're spending time taking care of them instead of using that time to play.

Wow, that's actually kind of sad to some extent. Hopefully you did more than just game. I know you pointed it out in your post. I'm just saying that, in proportion, I hope you did more of soemthign else than just gaming. Because honestly I can't see myself ever doing something like that with a girl over a game :( Instead I did the opposite, I got her to play games with me every now and then (she loves CoH)

The worst is the thousands I spent on EQ 1 gear back in the day.

Cloak of Flames, Fungal Tunic, Gem Encrusted Ring, inter alia.

Never buy plat  or items.  Trust me.  Never.

EQ 1 played 3 yearrs or so. was still awesome to me when i quit

DAOC played 3 years awesome game

EQ 1 and DAOC game me the most fun!

EQ 2 played few months mainly quit because my friends were all playing WOW at the time. EQ 2 was actually good to me.

WOW played a few months because my frineds were but never really can say I liked it as much. decent game though.

SWG few months OMG was total crap besides the craft system

tried some others too but didn't play them long.

beta some others too but didn't buy reatail of most

Probally going buy LOTRO soon just kill some time playing the trial last few days. Seems a decent game but still low level.

Well actually "The Realm" is what got me into MMORPGs i started playing it right before EQ 1 came out and moved to EQ 1 after that and fell in love.

Started off with a zx spectrum but really didn't start buying games (thanks mum) until the Commodore 64. I used to save up my pocket money and I still regret to this day seeing a wall full of C64 games in the store and ending up buying Roy of the Rovers. damn.

Pool of Radiance on C64; Doom 1 + 2 on playstation; Armored Core series on PS2; GTA3, Vice City, and Ultima Online on PC. Those were/are the games I love like I love certain works of art.

I've spent many $1000s on PCs and consoles + games and overall I don't regret it. I can see myself playing games well into my dotage. Hopefully, it will be a way to bond with my kids and grandkids, shouting "PWN'd J00" at them and them wondering wtf I'm talking about.

    Never did never would.

I would take the fun out of the game.

every MMO from EQ to WoW i have bought. Bought new high end computers just to play them. I could have put a NICE sized down payment on a new vehicle for the amount i spent on MMOS alone. Were not going into consoles eventhough i have every one ever made
