I'm not a big fan of Christmas, to commercialized and I think the spirit of giving has been corrupted. Instead of giving to people in need and helping people that need assistance we by a bunch of crap to give to relatives and friends..usually stuff that they don't really want or will use (and ends of being thrown away or sold at a garage sale). But to avoid screwing up your thread, I'd have to say it is the time spent with my fiancee / family (time off from work), the fire going and the smell of cooking on Christmas day.
Since American comercialism and the PC brigade got into it there is no such thing as christmas.
Its now called Wintervall so as not to offend other religions, and you no longer get any real decent decorations in public places as the local councills try and get the shops to pay for them which t hey dont so we are lucky to get the odd string light in a tree.
Also Wintervall presents and decorations are sold in shops from October now so as to make the most cash. And schools are being stoped from celebrating christmas by doing decoration making or present making and the christmas panto is banned rom amny schools and replaced with something deliberetly NOT christmas themed becaus eit could offend non Christians.
So not much christmas where i live.
P.S. oh i almost forgot years ago peoples homes used to have decorations displayed in public but now most dont bother as its bot too much effory aparently and some councills banned them because of Healph and safety fears.

I still call it Christmas and I don't know anyone who has labeled the holiday "Wintervall". I have a ton of decorations on my house, including multiple Christmas trees (one in each kid's room, the main one in the living room and a couple small ones that can be seen from outside).
Christmas can only be stopped if you let it. With that being said, I wish you all aMERRY CHRISTMAS!

Lol.
My mom showed me our antique christmas spider when i was little. Somewhere, I have the article from the local paper about it. Ours is apparently really rare and special, and has been in our family for a while. That and the christmas pickle are my favorite things about decorating our little plastic pine tree. I mean, who wouldn't want arachnids and vegetables on their tree?

Christmas now reminds me of that episode of South Park where the kids had to do some stupid interpretive dance for the Christmas play and there were no decorations allowed. I'm not a practicing Christian, but I take no offense of Christmas being called Christmas. It's a Christian holiday (although its true history is rather non-Christian). I bet the Muslims would through a fit if we changed Ramadan to a non-denomination holiday.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It has been a family tradition since i was a little lad to watch this the night before Christmas.
Also those little chocolate covered pretzels and Ritz crackers with pnutbutter dipped in chocolate my muther makes.

I enjoy the pretentiousness of people being warm and friendly for a week or so, before they revert to their true selves and act like selfish pricks the rest of the year.
What are your favorite thing/things about the holiday? Of course many will say presents but what else? I love the egg nog it only comes out during christmas time!
I have fun decorating the house and the yard for Christmas and I like giving presents. To me, it's not about what I get, it's the special feeling that comes around this time of year. Wish it could last all year long.
Every Christmas Eve, as far back as I can remember, the family gets together to eat Mom's Eggrolls(Great but she only makes them Christmas Eve) and watch It's a Wonderful Life. For the last few years we also watch the Black Adder's Christmas Carol Episode.
My family doesn't celebrate Christmas, so it's basically just another day for me. I might chug some eggnog, but that's the extent of my holiday spirit. I never got into the whole santa claus thing either since my dad was telling me that he didn't exist even before I was born...
Edit: This guy is awesome. The sound quality isn't that great though...

I enjoy hearing about secular aetheists and christian fundamentalists antagonizing each other, in the news.
Both groups need to get a life and stop pushing their beliefs and trying to dismiss the others.
It is ironic that the current version of christmas has nothing to do with religion, its all commercial
and yet it is being repressed more and more as a result of its religious affiliation

Much better than bowls of pine and the smell of nuts....

In my oppinion the best thing is family, and having all the family around the house for a big drink up
sure the next day we regret it, but the day before we love it
