Its not listed because it is still a buggy pos. And reintroducing content in a dumbed down form doesnt count as an improvement. The only award they should get is Biggest MMO Train Wreck of the Century.

Maybe they require people to actually play the game, or have it be considered out of beta. Or not be a stoking POS almost universally reviled in gaming circles. Or maybe after a certain number of "Coaster of the Year" awards, SWG became disqualified. Or maybe SWG has to matter anymore?

So what you're saying is, SWG gets a free content update 7 days before the year ends, and for that they deserve to win "Most Improved MMO of 2007"? LOLOLOL Exactly right! That's what my whole argument was about. They haven't made any REAL improvements, and the few "good" improvements, although in reality I should call it a "promise" since its more fitting. Isn't even out live yet. So why should they get an award when the "good" stuff isn't even coming out until near end of the year?
Old features? You people even read anymore or just spew your old talking points? All NEW space zone. Landable space station. New heroic that takes place on a Imperial Star Destroyer. Umm, never did that in Pre-cu. All in the free update.
Actaully by that standard EvE is getting

Out of ship content such as in stations with stuff like player run arenas and shops and the ability to invite people to walk around your ship.
There is also going to be the ability to colonise and run planets.
Also yu will be able to fly in the atmosphere.
Also youwill be able to do planetry based RTS combat with tanks marines walkers bombers etc on such planetsto fight over plaetry zones for controll of that planet.
So EvE has more content comming out which definatly beats SWG' offering. Of course someof this isant out for 2 years yet but just like the SWG content it was promisedand by the satandard you ahve used EvE beats SWG hands down.

No new content? Let's see (this is gonna sound like I'm on marketing for the game but meh, someone has to do it :P)
Chapter 6
- Return of player controlled creatures/pets. Not really comparable to Creature Handler since it works in a different way. Pets are incubated with DNA samples rather then being tamed in the wild, but it's a rather detailed system that involves goods from all crafter professions. Using a variety of crafted tools, you can create a pet to suit your playstyle and compliment your character. Not only that, but there's also Mutations that occur with certain combinations of different enzymes. These are actually rarer then Jedi ever was in the game and can be a big deal if you obtain one.
- Introduction of Storyteller. One of the things many people liked about SWG was the freedom to go out and create your own content, but often you had to book a time with the Event devs to set up your event, which often meant waiting in a que. Storyteller lets you do what you used to need Pex for and gives you the freedom to set your location up however you like using a whole bunch of different props and effects. Some of the events you see people make in game are pretty cool and rival some of the dev made content.
- Housing packup. Removed old houses that had been cluttering up the landscape and preventing current players from creating their own player cities. This didn't destroy the persons house and their belongings, but packed them up into thier datapad so they can place the house back down if they decide to return - everything inside will be as it was before. The problem with this was that they weren't restrictive enough on houses to be destroyed, so there was a rather short supply of houses to blow up - most servers were cleared by the end of 2 days.
- Bug-bash. Cleaned up alot of outstanding bugs that yes, probably should have been fixed years ago by the "a team dev team" as some people like to call them Also implemented some changes that people had been requesting for a long time, such as colourable furniture and socketed armour boots & gloves.
- Imperial/Rebel Themepark revamp. These have both been revamped into high-end content with a better storyline then "run over there and escort this NPC back" missions.
Chapter 7
- 3 "Heroic Encounters". These are some high end instances that's probably the most challenging content in the game currently. These aren't like other instances SWG has seen where you go in and do as much damage as you can. Instead, you really need to think and solve the puzzles that are found in them. If you ignore a debuff for example, not only can it be the end for you but it can be damaging to your entire group. Completing these gives you tokens which you can use to buy rewards from the Village. These rewards can be paintings, buffs or jewelerry peices that gives your character new abilities.
- Collections. Basically, nearly anything you do in the game now is likely part of a collection reward and you'll find yourself completing most of these without even trying. Collections range from sets of loot items that you add to get new schematics, items and abilities to killing certain amounts of different creatures. Collections has actually become the most popular part of Chapter 7, mostly because collecting items has always been a big thing in SWG.
- Return of the Village. Although in the same location and features the same NPCs, the Village is very different to what it was Pre-nge. It's no longer the hub of the Jedi grind but rather a central location for the new Heroics. All the entry quests for the new instances start here and you also pick up your rewards for completing them here too. It's also a good place to get into an instance group, although guild/faction groups are more popular way to form groups.
Chapter 7 is just about the same size as the Trials of Obi-Wan expansion. If you combine Chapter 7 & 8 together, they exceed ToOW - except for free.
The original SWG was very realistic because in real life the more you do something the better you get at it. Take weight lifting for example, that's a repetitive task and the more you do it the bigger your muscles will get. The more you practise a dance then the better you'll get and the more skill you'll have to dance other stuff. And same thing goes for everything really, even making something the more times you do it the better you'll get at it.
That's what i loved about SWG because it took the skill approach with a constantly evolving character and not a meaningless linear grind to end level and then get bored of the end game and make a new character.

They always say they're adding new content and then you get into the game and it's like 5 mins long and you have nothing to do again or you don't even notice the new stuff because it sucks. What i hate is how they recycle everything like the same old textures and the same old models and the same old buildings and bunkers etc etc.
Looking at them patch notes it doesn't look like new content but rather recycled of whats already in the game.
I do not have Star Wars Galaxies downloaded on my system, although I have a Station Pass, which I am seriously considering canceling to only play Vanguard.
The problem with SWG is that it is not accessible to new players. SWG, in my view, is an extraordinarily brilliant MMORPG. I think it is an all-time best, possibly superior to EQ 1 classic. The features in SWG are amazing and overwhelming; the sense of world immersion is the best I have experienced in an MMORPG.
The problem, however, is that a new player is so far behind to established players with their 1) factories, 2) player-run and operated cities; 3) fleets of space vehicles; and 4) soooo much, much more.

if SOE was in charge of EVE they would charge $30 for each and every one of those content updates, and then make them all available a year later in a $30 legendary bonus game pack!
Beastmastery is WAY more complex than CH ever was, it was not dumbed down as the NGE/SOE haters continue to say. Collections added alot to the game and will continue as they add more to each publish. The lure of perma housing/personal stat increases, cool items and more make it very popular. The current 3 heroic encounters are fun, have great loot and also have perma stat increases, the new one coming out today or tomorrow on TC and live by Christmas looks to be even better. Who would not want to jump in a gunboat, fight your way through masses of enemy ships to even get to the new encounter (most likely on a new space station)?
SOE could send lesbian cheerleaders to my door to help install SWG, and I'd still never go back.

Although not one of the most popular MMOs out there, Galaxies DOES deserve to be in the 'most improved game of 2007' category. Why on earth is Lord of the Rings there? It's just been released!
Although not rolled back to pre-cu, and regardless of the history - Galaxies in its current form is a shadow of the NGE that destroyed the game back in 2005. Many old features have returned and alot has changed since. So it at least deserves to be here.
No it does not.
NGE is pathetic.
To be "Improved" a game has to be better then it started. SWG was better the day it was released as it is now.
If you really want to vote for SWG in a year's end award poll, ask one of the editors or writers here at MMORPG.com to run another "Worst Of..." poll. SWG blew away most of the competition when they ran one last year, and it would have a great chance to do so again this year.

Hell ya it would win. Ex-swg players are the only ones with enough time on their hands to even bother with polls. There are more of us then NGE players. At times I think there are more us then even the people who play WoW.

If you really want to see what a 'cool' collection was like, you should have visited my Hall of Holograms in my three-guild hall compound just outside Mos Sidious, a player city on Tattoine. The hall was guarded by two slice hounds and a storm trooper at a desk. There were other rooms containing various galleries according to my taste, the Hall of Weapons might have pleased you with its variety or perhaps my giant waterfall, with golden fish and pearl hovering in a swirl above the foaming waters.
And as for 'who would not want to jump in a gunboat...'? My dear boy, I was flying pirate runs, attacking star destroyers, blowing up corvettes and fending off waves of fighters with my buddies in my VT49 Decimator three years ago.

You have got to be kidding me......This game is a WAS good at best and cannot be fixed unless it goes back to it's roots.

Let's look at the h-a-r-d facts.
Before all the NGE sillyness, SWG had 330k accounts.
When the current SWG reaches 330k accounts (that is 330,000 accounts)
THEN you, me, and everyone will know SWG has improved. Until then, the hard facts, show, and prove, the current SWG which has roughly 100k is a failure vs the old cSWG which had 330k accounts. When a successful game loses more than 50% of its players, it is doing something horribly wrong. When said game never gets them back, it means it is still doing something horribly wrong.
