Actually I believe this game is back up and running, it's got some sponsors now, and it's still free to play. However, this game isn't for all the everquest, WoW, AO, or DAoC junkies...it's a more complicated RPG rather than a click and destroy, level up, and get powerful with your friends game. For those of you interested in a game where you can actually develop and role play a character in a 3D environment, it might be worth checking out...but if you are looking for super high polygon counts that require the fastest 3D card to run, and massive mindless PvP madness, and little or no role play value, then I would avoid this game and check out one of the larger over funded and under thought out games coming out soon.

I seriously hated the combat in that game, but the game as a whole was headed on the right path (even with the squarish-like characters). I definitely like the number of skills and character customization they had available.

Rubies was never free, you're probably thinking of a different game, and yes, I agree, it was the worst game I ever played.

No I was talking about Rubies, and here is my proof... The following was taken off the message board in a post dated 7/18/04:

    There you have it.

Alright, let's do our homework before we post any more posts like this one...

Last time I checked, the number of MUD gamers was pretty close if not more than the amout of MMORPG gamers out there, and MUDs don't EVEN HAVE GRAPHICS.

Second point, let's take a look at Ms. Pac Man and Galaga... "OMG!!! IT'S THAT GAME" Yeah, that's right, those games...Those games may have "freaking hilarious" graphics, but last time I checked, they still managed to be the most popular and highest profit grossing games in history, even to this day.

How many times does it take to get people to realize that graphics don't make a game fun, a fun game makes a game fun. If people didn't know that ages ago, then perhaps none of you would be playing most of the games you play right now.

The irony involved in this post is almost too much to handle.

I hope they can manage to get the game going in the underground. Anyone willing to bring a product to the public deserves a chance. Even if they cannot compete with the biggest games on the market it's still something worth having available.

Say what you will about the game, but for a no name, indie dev team with a shoestring budget(and that's probably being generous) I'd say it's pretty impressive what they've done. No worse than Shadowbane, to be sure..

Hearing them; them in my head
How can they be so sweet... sweet?

Well that changed, probably because of the new sponsors thing, but no, they were not free before. as they were operating on their own costs and did not have "sponsors". It was free to download at the time, but there was still a $10.00 a month fee.

I dunno. The GFX look fairly decent to me for a dead game. Can't comment on gameplay though but from the way they "stand" in the pictures it looks like "robotic" movement.

Doesn't look too bad. I might download this one and try it out sometime... Very colorful...

    Better than the original EQ...

The gmes really good for anyone that actually trys it. The gameplay is fun and the spells are cool. The only issue with this game is the Sphere Combat system. Cant see ANYONE fighting other mobs but group members.

Says to stop kill stealing but makes game world feel empty, if they got rid of that it would be SOOO much better.

So, you are sayng that if someone is fighting a mOB, then that person and the mob is invisible to someone not grouped with that person???

    Now, that sounds very LAME!!!

I played it some. It wasn't a bad game, persay, it just needed a ton of work. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I think each MMO brings something a little different and may help improve things overall. Rubies had a semi-interesting combat system and I liked the look of the game. It was, at least, an effort at going in a little different direction.
