I'm glad I left runescape when I did, I just don't want to be a part of a game where the company makes the crappiest changes that provoke things like this.

  • Duplicity1Duplicity1 Member Posts: 7

I am looking for another game...as similar to runescape as possible.  Not graphics or that stuff...Just the game itself,....levels skills training questing trading ...etc.

If you know another game that works in basically the same manner....please tell me

  • paulscottpaulscott Member Posts: 5,613

you won't find a skill based game, with non-auto-gen quests, and the same sort of economy.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

How could anyone possibly play that game? It looks like someone took a dump and smeared it on a screen.

People rag on Rs for its shit graphics, but it's a pretty good game.. The real problem is the community, it is literally Barrens chat 24/7 on there. I can safely say, 98% of the people on there, are fucking morons. The 6/6/06 massacre was still better in my opinion. (haha mute bitch! mute!)

  • Duplicity1Duplicity1 Member Posts: 7

Ok, so Im a moron for playing...Im an idiot for playing but dang give a girl a break...I like all the different things you could do...I liked that if i was in a fighting mood I could fight, if I was in a money making mood I could make money, if I was in a skilling mood I could skill train...in all yalls vast knowledge and expertise in the field of gaming...cant you think of a game that covers those things?

Then tomorrow you can feel good about your self because you helped an idiotic moron become just a bit less idiotic and moronic...lol

I've seen riots in other games, much bigger riots. So bad infact the CSRs couldn't do anything about it because they got lagged.

Actually Dup, I wasn't calling you an idiot for playing, I played for two years. I was saying that 98% of the people who play Runescape are simply morons. Not morons for playing Rs.

  • Duplicity1Duplicity1 Member Posts: 7

zik...you played for 2 years...did you like it....if so what do you play now?  RS is the ONLY online game I have ever played...Im not too "up" on this kinda stuff

  • ZikielZikiel Member Posts: 1,138

Yep. I pay for Final Fantasy 11, but also have:

    Private server Ragnarok

Irth Online (This is like an advanced Rs apparently.. I've had trouble with lag, so I dunno)

    Gunz (haven't played that yet.)

    Rf Online

    Dream of Mirrors Online

    Angels Online

Don't feel bad because Rs is your first Mmo, frankly, it's better than most of the garbage we get. Anyway, I guarantee you that most players you meet nowadays started playing mmos with Rs.

    very very true

i used to play it back when it was acceptable community wise, but i tried playing last year and got called "Noob" about 15 times in the first 4 minutes.

Except for the fact that the combat is just a dice roll, the skills system is unrivaled, its the only truely "open" game out there. and im not sure ill ever find another game i get as attached to.

WurmOnline 'might' be worth a try but that's a long shot.  basically it focues solely on crafting then on other aspects.   the game has no quests whatsoever.  basically 99.9% of items are crafted by playes, full terraforming, ability to mine mines that are permament(even through mountains), and town building.  it DOES have the open game feeling to it.

EvE Onling 'might' be worth a try.  decent crafting, amazing market(I mean truely amazing), and the open PvP focuses.  it has quests I would not recomend at all if that's your fun, they are profitable though.

EQ/WoW mold games.   these games try to capture huge audiences and some mechanics deffiantly fail in them.  when they get the quests right they are amazing, raiding is a lot of fun to some people(if you like barrows and god wars this is a mechanic for you).  These games typically throw in every mechanic they can think of to keep players playing as well so you have some PvP some Crafting.

guildwars. just hands down wins for the main story questing, while the PvP is NOT the openess that RS once had it is a very dynamic and complex system(wins a lot of points there even if it is a dueling system).

PS:  wurmonline is only there because I've been a fanboy of it for the past few years.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Lol, I think I know what you mean.

I thought only SOE and LucasArts was capable of completely destroying MMO's, but apparently not?

Still I can't imagine that it can be as bad as the story of SWG?

I have heard alot of people trying out perfect world, that is where I am going to try first, if you find anything let me know because i am on the same hunt as you are.

  • devilisciousdeviliscious Member UncommonPosts: 4,359

well if your an idiotic moron then so am i , i am the same way, i want to find a game that I could do whatever i was in the mood for.  I like to do different things depending on my mood, and I wish I could find and american version of runescape , like the same lay out better rules,  and actually have customer service. Yes us americans like our customer service  and put a great value on that as being a huge part of our decsion to play a game.  I don't like having to choose a class or have a guild, I want a game that i can do anything and everything whenever i want. If I want to join a clan I can do that too , but it is not required to be able to survive... more like a sports team.  The biggest problem with  alot of these games is they do exactly the opposite, But from what i am hearing alot of people are giving perfect world a try, so i will too.

  • Duplicity1Duplicity1 Member Posts: 7

Devil... Thanks I will check that one out.  Last night someone told me to try Silk Road,  havent done it yet but I will.  I did download rappelz .  almost 2 gigs in size then when I tried it out....It's just not what Im looking for, so I went on runescape to buy my son some nice things before its too late to give to him.  He hasnt decided if he wants to stay or not.

Good luck and if you find something ...come let me know...I'll do the same for you.

I heard a rumor that Jagex put half of China out of business....

But anyway, something was bound to happen like this.  The game's community was out of control, it's infested with pre-teens spamming rubbish and trying to scam people constantly, and there were goldfarming bots everywhere (filling up servers and stopping real players).  While they will loose players over it on the short term, on the long term the game will be more presentable and will probably attract more.

I wouldn't be surprised if other MMORPGs eventually do similar stuff to fix their goldfarming problems.

Also nothing beats SOE for breaking MMOs, at least in Runescape they had very good reasons and weigh up the risks, while SOE are actually clueless.

Yes that is a joke .. have you not seen the ads for stocked accounts for sale? Now you will just see more "perfected bots"

That is the problem, the preteens are increasing and jagex is catering to them, there will be more of them less of clans and families. Haven't you seen who likes this update? They are kids who think that working for a poorly drawn pixel crown is a good thing, adults do not, adults like friendship, and helping others .. that is who is leaving over this. You will still have the bots, the kids, and the hackers dropping your items and thinkin it is funny. You will have more lil boys in dresses and less real women , because most of the real women spent most of their time helping other players. We had entire clans that is all we did.

No, other games will be smart enough to learn from this terrible mistake and use the hard drive id tools that are more effective and more customer friendly.

It is apparent in their reaction after the fact that they did not realize how much this would affect their players.  And honestly, most are starting other games, they have been treated so poorly by customer service at this point that they have given up on anything jagex produces from here on out. The automated responses, the flat out rudeness of their reps, the unwillingness to even allow suggestions in the past. It has piled up of the years to a big pile of ... lets just say i wouldn't want to smell it. =x

    Devil,

I agree with everything you said.  I am a late night player (central time usa) and even at 2:30 am many many worlds were always full...tonight here it is 1:30am and not one single world was full...not even world 2.

I am downloading perfect world as I type and will continue till i find a game that doesn't prohibit me from giving my son things.

One of the many reasons why people quit RS.

I now play WoW, and the community has a much better vibe to it, u wont get called a noob just because u might have only just started or may not know much about the game. Also, what really annoyed me after those riots; (I was there at the world 18 one, I quit after that) was that afterwards Jagex hardly took any notice! There were quite a few mods there and surely they could see that most of the players there wanted the updates scrapped; (Im sure most experienced players of RS would)  Werent Jagex meant to be bringing in those updates for the "good of the game"? They certainly haven't done it for the GOOD OF THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY IT

I never got called a noob when i started instead i got free stuff (steel) and btw WoWs community is being criticized nearly as much as runescape's.

Ok then... Take this scenario... A level 3 sees a lvl 40 pure talking to his mate about Pking. When the level 3 asks "what's Pking?" he'll get called called a noob because he doesnt know what it is. Is that good or bad??

  • Duplicity1Duplicity1 Member Posts: 7

When I was really new on RS someone did give me things.  As a matter of fact, more than one person gave me free things to "help get me started"  this isn't a testament to how good Runescape was it's a testament to how nice those individual players are.   But Runescape decided to take away the ability to "be nice" on the game.

In comparison to most of you I'm a "NOOB" still, because I'm only level 83, but I have worked and worked to get there and never once have I called anyone a Noob, but there hasn't been a day since I started that I wasn't called a noob.  Towards the "END" I just began keeping my chats both set to friends only.

I only started playing RS in June, but quickly decided it was a pretty fun way to pass time in the evenings, so I talked my son into playing.  I gave him quite a lot of stuff to get him started, if I saw a really good price for something he needed I would buy it to give him.  Now I wont even be able to help my son out.

I'm one of those people who doesn't even understand how "Real world trading"  actually hurts RS, they say in their update newsletter how its ruining the game.  I guess I really am stupid about stuff because I just dont see how.  Jagex gets their membership fees whether there are real world traders or not, the fees arent based on the amount of runescape money you have so, their bank account only suffers from the players quitting over all the stupid changes.

  • GormandYGormandY Member Posts: 411

those who got to high levels when they could had no problems, i didnt care if a level 126 called me a noob... my level 110 could almost easily own him, they sucked because they were too scared to bring over 3M to the wilderness... so who's the noob there?

I agree, runescapes' community sucks. I sure do miss the runescape classic days, but oh well.... the game is 100% ruined now, no more need to play it for me atleast... im just gonna wait for WAR AoC Darkfall TCoS and a few other games and see how they turn out to be.
