screenshot observations

After looking at the screens for this game I would like to make a few observations:

everything looks really pretty, this is a good thing, the skybox looks excellent and the sand/wall/floor textures look wonderful.

things seem too perfect: i was hoping things would be a little more gritty, dirty, differentiated. everything feels nice and modern and straight out of a rendering program.

most of the interior lighting seems generic and evenly lit with one color that feels like a filter over the entire image. perhaps this is what the shots were going for?

i admit i have not followed this game much so far.. and have not made many posts about it... but i would like to see a larger variety of screens coming through. whats listed here on mmorpg feels very limited with little variety.

anyone have links to more?

Actually as this is pre beta.. heck the artwork itself is from pre producion.. give them time..

The images are just high resolution pre-rendered paintings and just serve as an example as to how the developers want the game to look.

No in-game shots have been revealed yet. And because the game is in its very early stages, it will be a very long time until any of us see anything from the actual game engine.

Actually there have been a few *as in like 2 or 3 * Actual screen shots that have been used by the game engine

What ones would that be exactly?

man by the time they finish the game it will look totally different, these are just some screenies etc to show off to the fans so they can keep on going rather then leaving them in the dark :P

Last night I played the UT III demo on my PC to check out the engine that Stargate Worlds is using. I have to say the overall feel of the textures and lighting creates a blade runner vibe. I think Star Gate Worlds has some real talent and if they decide to push the right atmosphere though the pipe of bandwidth that it will look fantastic based on the vibe they want to communicate per planet. The engine is very very capable of this.  And I use a EVGA  Nvidia 7800GT. So bottom line is - we have to wait and see if they use the engine to its fullest capabilities. I hope they do!
