Hi all,
Well the Zu Online OB starts soon and I have been watching this game with interest but information seems very scant. Has anyone here played it in alpha? Anyone have any info on the game?
Is it just another grindfest like the typical asian mmo or is it something different? How's the grind? How are the quests? classes? How is character customization? Can you choose different faces, hairstyles, etc.
What if anything makes ZU stand out from the rest of the asian games. Anything special going on for it?
How does it compare to Perfect World or Domo? (I am currently enjoying these 2 games and their quest lines, and wonder if ZU is worth my time).

i played Alpha in guild *RAWR* ( first guild in zu ).
the grind is nonexsistant. every lvl u get 2-3 quests and one quest reward gets u about 60-70% of a lvl. after lvl 30 u get more and more quests (4-5 there is a quest search button that shows place and npc with quest) which are done very fast .
I dont know how its after lvl 100-300 but i think this is the grindless game i ever saw after Guild Wars..which only has 20 lvl max.
Customization is ok..u can select haircuts,colors,faces but charackters are gender locked

What differs zu from other games ( in a good way) is the awesome looking Cell Shading graphics.
The pet System(there is a Walk Pet skill that u can use in greenc olored areas on map to walk ur pet, so it will give u xp leaf or other fruits that increase intimacy/loyality and other stuff like hp etc.)
The Classes. Summoner,Bead Fairy,Moonmaiden,Sun Warrior,Swordsman.U dont hold ur weapon in ur hand. its flying around u and swordsman can hover over the ground when not in battle mode.
Impressive skills! i mean they look awesome on some classes like swordsman.

There are alot small bosses,big bosses and somthing like huge raids which are very strong and need a bunch of people to kill em (nice rewards like pet eggs)
Crafting system is very easy to learn but is pretty effective. U can craft purple items( i done 3 of em) and if u wear a purple weapon ur name get purple too. There are alot ways to make ur items stronger and its so easy.
Quests + Rewards. In zu u almost alway get blue + green Items + fruits for mana and hp + copper.silver,gold.
Sometimes u see a monster running aroudn which can be lvl 60 lvl 90 or above ( i dont remember name) . When u kill it it trops an item that gives u 1-2+ gold (dependent on lvl) when u sell it to npc. this is a good way to make money. 1 gold is alot. Zu online uses Gold,Silver,Copper system like in WoW.
Sometimes monsters drop a treasure map with some placed noted where a treasure can be opened. Only one of them is the right and gives u soem gold.
And yeah there is a zodiac sign system too. u have to choose urs before u create ur charackter. there are npc that give u xp bonus when its ur time.
Well i played perfect world cn-my and my-en and perfect world is grindy..and the quests are just a purpose to say u where to grind. Ans it gets annoying fast ( reached 60in cn-my and i quit).
Zu online ist not another generic crap asian grinder. I dont know how they doen it but this game is a diamond. many people in alpha helped to find and report bugs so no we can play the beta alot earlier then expected.
i gurantee ur not gonna regret ur playtime in zu online.

I played in the alpha and I dont see this nonexistent grind. It is a grind, look at how many lvls there are.
I did not like this game at all (based on the alpha). Hopefully somethings have changed but if not its a no for me.
Their is no customization. Everyone looks basically the same (within your class), and the choices mentioned above was very little. At the time I played you only had 3-5 choices.
Alot of the monsters are very similar no matter where you started (especially at certain lvls, meaning you will kill the same thing for a range of lvls). Even at the high end alot of the monster just had different names. The quests where very basic ... deliver this to so so or kill X monster X times.
Like mentioned above too if your going to play get all the quests you can to do.
I played for many lvls and on a good note, for an alpha I really had no server/crash problems so the server was very solid.
doing same quest over is still GRIND this game is very grindy
So come on is this game good or bad? Don't wanna be wasting bandwidth : (
u cant say there is grind cause u didnt even reach a high enough lvl ro feel a grind!
In the Beginning when u start out everyone looks the same..but on and on everyone looks abit different. I havent seen on guys that looked exactly like me. maybe thats why i was glowing full purple.
This is not World of Whorecraft..and even they have alot basic quests. So what would u choose:
do basic quests and lvl slow and grindy OR do basic quests and level fast and not grindy. Highest people in game are lvl 80..not higher! most of em were in the guild i was in. And all say there is no grind. i can say til vll 70 there is absolutely no grind. i know the max lvl which is 300 if im right but it doesnt matter now cause im talking about alpha expirience and not wat could be.
If its that easy to reach 80 then it must be very easy to reach 200 too...but noone knows .
Honestly MANY LEVELS != GRIND ! u can have many level and keep the game grindless buy getting huge rewards of quests.
i agree on the monster thing..but thios is again..just for the first 40 lvls. late ron there are about 15 different monster types on the same map.
now tell us what lvl have u reached..and dont lie pls.
i not gonna tell people to pla yor not to play this game. tomorrow is open beta if u want u play it and maybe find it enyoing cause its alot different to other games. If not..ur fault ^^

there killquests that offer u very good blue weapons for killing up to over 1000+ enemys at later lvls. those are QUest Giver quests which u DONT HAVE TO DO cause u only do em when u need XP or a WEAPON.
zu online is no different from any other shitty asian "F2P" game. there is a grind, the character customization is horrible, the combat is poorly done. some of the posts in this thread will show you what kind of idiots actually play this trash. i wouldn't recommend this game to anyone.

honestly Zu is different from most Asian F2P games in that the grind, although there under the surface, doesnt seem so much like a grind. The Q rewards for the quests are pretty good and the combat isnt to bad, but nothing special either. The cell shaded graphics are a change but not really my cup of tea. If not for the graphics I would be playing Zu online..real decent F2P game.

ZU is just another free to play asian item mall grinder, same pile of crap just on another part of the lawn. I swear to god, you would think that a good one would come along since a grip of them are released each month. I think im done testing out free to play asian item mall grinders for good. So sick of the same game over and over and over again. As soon as I got in game, I took the game off fast. You can tell right away how these free piles of crap are. Jesus I cant wait for 08 to play a good pay to play.
Well I can answer this now...The game has both. But, the WASD is not that great because the camera does not follow when you change direction and there is no way to "steer" with the mouse when running forward in the WASD movement.
So, imo its not that great. But, the point & click works good and they do have an excellent auto move feature that I like (whereby you click on the map and run there and also you can click on names of NPCs or mobs from the map and quest logs and it will also "autorun" you there while you go take a pee).

Seems like a few people in this thread are 12-years-old.
This is my honest, yet only sort of helpful post... I didn't like the game. When I first stepped in the game I felt so overwhelmed and confused. I don't know if it was because you just start out with no knowledge of the areas and they say, "Go to certain place and talk to certain person!" instead of being like, "You are currently in certain area. Look around and try to find certain person which is in the same area."
I don't really feel like going into much detail other than I was basically confused. Also the translation from whatever foreign language to english was a bit... off. But whatever, that's expected. Personally I didn't like it.
