Big attribute changes coming

Looks like some great changes coming in the next patch.

There are big changes coming up with the next update to Tabula Rasa that will help players diversify their characters even more. I briefly mentioned the attribute changes coming online in this next update, but now I can go into more detail about them.

  • Body points will now add a bonus to your armor rating.
  • Mind points will now add a bonus to your ability damage.
  • Spirit points will now add a bonus to your chance to deliver critical hits.
  • Health has now been upped for all characters.





These changes will necessitate a respec for your character, but we feel these are very good changes for a number of reasons. The health change means that healing will be more important and inline with what we had originally envisioned. It will give a better early warning system when your armor drops and give more of a reason to have higher health. It will also allow us to improve virulent damage a bit, without making it overpowered. The body changes give those who want to really last in a firefight a way to do so now, but at the cost of power. Mind points means the Logos abilities will now be able to peel away armor and kill quicker, but they themselves will become a much easier target to take down. Finally, the spirit changes will allow strings of critical hits and much faster adrenaline gains through overkills.

 

All the attribute changes will make abilities, armor and weapons that grant attribute bonuses, or perhaps debuff attributes much more important. As you can imagine, core changes like these are being tested heavily by the development team and our own QA team. I’d like to personally encourage people to play on our Test Server when version 1.4 comes out and give us feedback early.

    Not sure if its a full respec though, most likely just related to your attributes.

    Question: where does power and regen fit in all this?

    Our most effective logo abilities still cost a lot to pull off thus any class dependent on them would like only be able to pull of 2/3 shots of any skill max in combat and then have to wait a bit to 'do' anything logo wise again?

    it's not like this is slow combat everything could be over in seconds it's good on a 1v1 situation but this totally makes everyone more weapon/tool dependent in group combat, sorry but from a game which from the onset tells us that the logos are 'the way to turn the war to our favour', it'll seem like we're not exactally requiring them much to win the war..

    Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!

    I've always wondered if you could make an all Logos using character i.e. Mage  With these changes you could pump mind and spirit and it seems possible but I have a feeling that guns will always be neccessary.

    This is going to be cool, seems like the professions are really getting a solid identity.   The choices you make with attributes now have a strong impact on your ability/playstyle.  Very cool.

    About power regen...i think the old

    facts will remain ..so one of em did push regen and also one did increase your pool.

    Would be funny to see some *Mage* builds

    We've been pushing for this since early closed beta - but so far all entreaties have fallen on deaf ears

    which is a crying shame as that is what is needed to add some depth of play to the game. right now all you get is a half-repec when cloning, add that to the lack of clone points and you arepretty much handuffed into whatever gimped build you have developed

    too bad, as a full respec would allow for a lot more experimentation and a lot fewer cookie-cutter builds

    Now that's something that's good to hear for a change.  I've been wondering when this was coming, but it's good that it is announced. I have 4 builds that need re-tweaked to some degree.

    By the way Jive, I think some of the negative postings are from ppl who got frustrated in the game at some point while thinking their attribute points where locked in and they wouldn't have a chance to re-do their character builds, so I try to give a lot of the ppl who post (biach) a break knowing that they are just venting emotions in order to communicate what they are going through. It's happened to me several times and feels good to make your concerns heard.

    Eve-Online, EQ2, DnL, SWG (Dead), Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, EQ, DAoC, Planet Side, WoW, LOTR, Tabula Rasa.

    Not sure if it good or bad news. I do how ever agree that attributes hasn't have much meaning before in TR, so maybe this will make them more worth of choosing.
