EU or US server

Hi MMORPG readers
first time poster in here...i think. I decided to try FFXI out, but i'm a bit conflicted whether as to play on the EU servers or the US servers.
I live in Denmark, and by default i should choose EU, but as with some other MMOs, people tend to be more friendly on US servers.
This is something i've gathered and read over the time i've been playing MMOs, now i could be wrong though, do please tell me if i am...since playing on the EU servers would be more easy for me.

One of the reasons FFXI is so good is because there aren't seperate servers! you will be playing with EU / USA / JP people. I've never understood why more dont follow this setup as you find many more interesting people this way.

Another good thing about this server setup means that there isn't really a period of time when people aren't playing - Somewhere around the world FFXI is being played! (and you can play with them even if you log in at weird times)
also, once you have got use to the [auto translate] function, it is really easy to communicate (on a basic level) with Japanese players and vice versa.
I don't know how much you know about the game, and despite it being my favourite MMO, it definitely isn't for everyone - I just hope you like it as much as I did. (I haven't played it for about a year, but me and some friends are going back to it in January)
Pheew, i'm really glad that you wrote that this game isn't for everyone, then i won't feel bad when i say that these past few hours playing the game has been the worst MMO experience of my life.
It has the worst consolish interface i've ever seen, the graphics is ugly as well, took me a while to figure out where actually to change the settings for the visuals, and when at max it still loks like crap i'm sorry to say
it's was such downright horrible experience that I just wandered around some city like a confused child. I couldn't even figure out how to trade with an NPC, maybe it's me...but i don't consider myself to be of below normal intelligence, so i'm thinking it must be the game's fault. I never go to fighting monsters, but i'm guessing that won't change me over, but i'll give it shot tomorrow...maybe.
Now this must be a lot to swallow for you all playing and loving this game, so please tell me i'm wrong about this game and why, gaud me over to your side with tales of your awesome FFXI experiences.
Right now, i just can't see myself playing this game anymore...a real waste of 8gb in my opinion.
If you read the short tutorial they gave you, they tell you how to trade to an NPC. But its more of a hardcore game, and i only reccomend it to people with part-time jobs
. But if you wanna see the hardcore end game stuff, go look it up on youtube, or stage6.com.
