If War Broke Out In America

I've been playing a little "World In Conflict" and it got me wondering.
I think that if war broke out in America it would be hell for the enemy. I know that just for myself alone I own 3 pistols and 4 rifles. 2 of which are high powered ones. And I know that most of my friends own guns as well. I just think that if an enemy tried to make the rounds down our street it would not be a cake walk.
Maybe I'm wrong though. I've never been in a war situation. I kind of also think it could work out that American's have become so dependent on someone to take care of them when it comes to almost any kind of hardship that we could just lay down crying. The old generation of hard fighters are all but gone now. Lately we've become a bunch of pantie waists. Look at how bloated our government has gotten and how quick people are to turn to it for help and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I dunno, what do you guys think? It's hard for me to predict.

At first I thought you were talking about some sort of civil war, which would be very, VERY ugly. But if you're talking about some sort of foreign invasion... only the Chinese would be crazy enough to try that because only they have enough mindless drones to flood the country -- we'd run out of bullets. Fortunately, China has to cross an ocean to get here, so they're not a very big threat ATM.
Really, foreign threats just aren't significant on a 'take over the country' level. I don't lose any sleep thinking about it. What we could do to ourselves, OTOH, is very scary indeed.
When the time comes, and the 21st century storm troopers are going door to door Waco style. When they come to your door with ten men. Make sure they go to the next door with five.

War is only hell for the lest prepared side. If the enemy were more prepared, then war in America would be hell for you.
Ahhh but do you, and your friends, have a secure fortress? All your guns mean nothing, when the enemy can shoot through walls. Or press a button and send a "bunker buster", missile straight down your wide opened throat, without hitting a single one of your teeth. Or toss a chemical can at you, and in seconds you are disabled without you ever firing off a defensive shot. Or siege you, until your ammo runs out, or your food runs out. Or attack you during night, with you unable to shoot them because you have no night vision items. Or they can snipe you because you have not pre-planned and pre-pared your supplies, and defense:
1. Yes guns and ammo. Short range guns (for close up firefights). As well as long range guns. And snipe range guns.
2. Crowd control weapons. Grenades. Explosives. Dynamite. That type of thing. Kill/disable 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100+ enemies in seconds.
3. Melee weapons are a must. Helps to conserve gun ammo. And is the final failsafe if/when gun ammo runs out. Do you have a supply of metal, gun powder, and a machine shop to make your own gun ammo? If not, melee weapons are a must.
3b. Learn hand to hand combat. Krav Magna, Grappling, Boxing (aka becoming a pugalist), Kick boxing, work the best in real life and death battles, when you must kill/disable in 1-4 strikes. Keep your physical body in shape. Need both aerobic (running, that sort of thing.. build up the heart and stamina) and anarobic (weightlifting, build up rest of muscles, and strength) exercise. As well as streching exercise. (Get a book/books on different streches, and do them before going to sleep when the body is at its most limber.)
4. Body armor. Google "dragon skin body armor". It's currenlty the best available to the public. But any kind of body armor is better than nothing. Shrapnal can be as leathal as a bullit.

5. Booby traps. They can warn you of enemies. As well as take out enemies, while you and your friends are busy with other enemies, or assessing the overall situation. Booby traps are on call, ready, and "on patrol" 24 hours,
6. Get a quality gas mask. One with 2 or more seperate filters. This way, you can change a filter while 1 or more filters are still active.Get many masks, and as many re-fill filters as you can. The next, step is get a full body gas suit. Even better, get as many full body gas suits as you can. If one gets just 1 hole, the entire thing is useless.
7. Get night vision goggles. Right now some Home Depot stores sell a "poor man's" version. It's roughly $30.oo (USA). It has different white light settings, as well as a red light setting. It's easier for the human eye to see during darkness with red light. The best, and more expensive, night vision draws on ambient light (the moon, stars) to see at night.
8. Get as many solar powered things as you can. Watches, lights, flashlights. generators, etc... There IS something far better than solar power, that gives unlimited light, and energy, and costs little as $1.oo to $10.oo (USA). When I re-find the one I own, which I have in secure storage, I'll send you a PM about it.
9. Water. Did you know in reality a grown human can go months with out water? 1 month nooo problems what-so-ever. 4 months possibly. Up to a year theorectically (it's possible.). I'm debating with myself if I should post how this is done. High level/elite military know about this (if they were properly trained heheh.). My hardcore friends have successfully done this. I know for a fact I could do this if my life were on the line. But at current time it isn't... so I'm too lazy to practice doing it LOL.
10. Food. With no food, a grown human can be functional roughly 1 week. After that brain functions become harder. It is theorectially possible the technique used to go without any water for months, and months, can be tried for food. But at most (in theory) one would only live a few days to a few weeks longer without food.
10b. Another idea, is get plants that grow without light. This way one can have an indoor garden in one's fortress. Or even a garden inside the storage compartment of their bicycle. Also possible to have a small garden of plants that do need sunlight - a moblie garden built in the bicycle storage compartment ... with the lid off.
11. Get a good bicycle. Forget Mad Max, with them driving muscle cars all over the place LOL! A good mountain bike with the widest possible tires. Get as many mountain bikes as possible, to use as parts. Also as many tires, and tubes as possible.
The next step, is get a bicycle trailor to haul supplies. It can be hooked onto the back of the mountain bike. Or an adult tricycle with a huge storage compartment built on it. In many cities there are pedi-cab bicycles. The passenger seats can be customized as a large trunk the size of many car trunks. Used to haul supplies.
12. Other supplies - arctic sleeping bag. Technology to light a fire. First aid for minor injuries to serious injuries. Various medicine supplies. Etc... etc... etc.... Don't forget "quality of life" supplies too! Books, computer games, DVD's, music, etc... Very brilliantly shown in the current movie "I Am Legend". Will help one keep from going insane, outsane, oversane, undersane.

13. Three choices on how to live.
a. Be completly mobile. Constantly moving. A nomad. Have no fixed fortress or base. Camp only when you sleep.
b. Be completly stationary. Have a pre-planned fortress. In a mountain cave? In a concrete bunker? In a concrete building?
c. Mix. Includes using a stationary fortress as a homebass while being a nomade moving around for weeks/months/years. Includes having a bunch of fortresses one rotates around.

14. And last, and for some the hardest part.... decide beforehand what your crew will be. Do you want it to be just yourself? You alone? Every scenario has many positives and negatives.
.... do you want it to be just you AND your family? ..... AND your friends?..... AND your neighbours? .... AND your co-workers? ..... AND goverment people? (Cops, military, fire dept, special forces, etc...)
.... no matter what type of crew you decide to have, then there's part b: What are your plans for if you meet other types of crews? Kill them all and take their supplies? Join them and try working together? How long will you join them? Just pass on them, let them be, and you be. These decisions may differ depending on the type and setup of other crews you meet.
Most Americans will just roll-over and die. They have no will to fight.
That would account for more than just Americas. There are many people without the will to fight.

Not me, I'm even more old school than you, I don't own guns, but I own 7 Razor sharp Swords and know very well how to use them *grin*
The biggest problem Americans would face in a full fledged invasion would be adapting to the loss of all services. Without electricity, water, gasoline, hospitals, etc, we would be faced with both a catastrophic "natural disaster" type environment from which to wage our home grown resistance and a military disaster if our federal government and DoD broke down enough to allow such an invasion.
Even the most prepared of "us" are ill prepared to deal with the type of scenario you are presenting. If you live anywhere near a large city, your chance of surviving on your own is negligible. I only say that because I personally believe our inner cities would turn on suburban society. It would become like the clans and gangs that show up in war torn countries all trying to position themselves in a position of power in any territory that isn't occupied by the enemy.
History shows though that such an end to an empire is in our future. Maybe we get off lucky like when England fell out as the premier world power and don't suffer an occupation, maybe we don't. There are a ton of ifs ands or buts in such a scenario though.

In reality, though, most people would choke at some critical point, and end up dead.
Many would pull the trigger, and not be able to cope with the guilt, or whatever of having taken someones life. Nightmares would prevent them from sleeping, and they'd either off themselves, or die a gibbering heap in an alleyway from starvation/exposure/predators.
The other ~10% that belong to the sociopath glee club, would likely die anyway. Either gunned down as a mad dog, after finally getting their shot at putting a .45 slug in the head of whoever pissed them off, or being overran by superior force from the occupying invasion, likely in the form of artillery, bunker busters, etc.

That sounds ridiculous to me. We're talking about a scenerio in which America is invaded by foriegn armies not the present day America where people have the luxury of being spoiled, touchy-feely, simpering fools.
If that harsh reality slapped people in the face they would learn pretty quickly to set aside all that squeemishness bullsh-t.

How effective citizen resistance would be is another question. If we were invaded at some point in the future the invading country probably wouldn't play nice the way we try to do in Iraq. There are some pretty simple and effective methods for dealing with resistance. If someone in a small town takes a shot at you...you wipe the town off the map. If you take fire going down a certain street in a city...you round up everyone who lives in that area and kill them all.
Pretty soon the resistance types understand that they are hurting their own people more than the enemy. That's the thing that would really suck about it, whoever invaded us wouldn't have their hands tied by the same kinds of ethical restraints that we apply to ourselves.
I think a lot of Americans would die futile deaths fighting armored vehicles and infantry with deer rifles.
Most working class, rural Americans (the ones I know at least) have no problem with killing anyone or anything. You're talking about a demographic that mixes alcohol with firearms and takes to shooting coyotes when there's no other game in season. Not because they eat the dogs or keep their hides, but because it's fun to shoot at them from a truck on the blacktop moving 75 miles per hour.
Hell, I've had friends that have been stabbed, shot, jumped by gangs of people.... One guy I worked with gave a ride to one one of his friends and dropped the guy off at a restaurant. Later, the police picked him up and questioned him for about a week. Why? because the person that he gave a lift to went into said restaurant shot his wife and her boyfriend dead before eating a bullet himself. Unfortunately, the guy lived and his "driver" faced the possibility of being an accessory. Another guy I met up with a couple years back was telling me how six people had been stabbed on his front porch within a three month period.
So no, Americans wouldn't have any problem with actually killing an enemy. Their problem would be zero understanding of military science and a complete lack of planning. In the old days, taking to the woods and pecking away at the opposing army was a good way to wear down your enemy on American soil. This country is big and moving large numbers of troops across would be slow and costly. But most Americans not only have no access to IFV busting explosives, but no knowledge of how to improvise such things.
.... And combat is physically demanding. Ever see a 300 lbs. man run 500 meters? Ever see him do it with a 60 pound rucksack while dodging incoming fire? Yeah, it would be a slaughter.
Good thing the US military is 25 times bigger than the combined forces of the top 10 industrialized nations combined
An EMP nuke high into orbit over the US. EMP nuke won't kill initially but can wipe out all electronic circuitry. America will be back in the stone age. Just Panic off that can pretty much have us take each other out. Watch the movie "Trigger Effect".
A foreign country doen't have to set foot into the US. Just to clean up afterwards.

I just have a feeling though, that when the invading occurred, there would be some different things taking place in different parts of the nation.
I don't think it would be too tough for the invading force to overcome the northeast U.S. For various reasons I just don't see the people up there being too confrontational or on the defensive.
On the west coast, I think that there is so much thug culture alive and well there that it would fall pretty quickly just like the north east. Maybe some of the smaller west coast towns would put up some fighting, but the large cities would be over run with the thugs who would care about nothing but their own self interests. Ironically, they would be sealing their own coffin by thinking and acting this way. This is a time when communities need to be acting as one.
The midwest I think would put up a good fight. Only problem is that the population in the midwest is pretty spread out. So there would be some big battles, but I don't think they would last long.
Where I think the strongholds would be is in the southeast. Nearly every single person down here (including our women) know very well how to handle a firearm and have much much much experience with them. Not to mention, most of us here are able to pull together when hardship hits. There are a lot of smaller communities down here that would have no problem defending our neighbors. Yeah, we've got some bad larger cities (I'm talking about you New Orleans) but for the large part we're survivors.

first of all you have to important enough to be called a rebel. to become a rebel, or lead a rebbel army, you need to be organized. Abd if you wan to win a war the most important thing is information. but with your current situation i can come up with several ways to eliminate insurgents like you.
1) drive a tank through your house
2) get a tank or armored car, place some large speaker on it , play german opera or heavy metal music, and drive around you're house several days
3) kidnap you at night when you are sleeping and execute you
4) if you live in a city, use larg artiliry to level the city with the ground.
5) any other place, use napalm, burning everything
6) ignoring you going right to the food supplies and farms, taking everything we can and leaving nothing behind
7) just ignoring you, you think one man can fight against an army of good trained soldier's?
8) a less serious one: placing a giant laser in orbit, that destroy everything with a press on a button
as the old saying goes: resistance is futile, you will be assimilated
If someone tried to fight a tradition war of soldiers holding territory it would be full of fail.
however now days there's very little reason to do so if you don't like what is happening in an area.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
With all due respect but does Auburn, Alabama have any strategic value that would motivate any enemy to go door to door rather than firebomb it, if they so chose to expend the ordinance?
I'm probably being paranoid but I think there are mini wars breaking out all the time. People are so conditioned to become numb/frozen when something shocking happens near them, whether is from being brought up like this, media-infused fear, fear of retaliation, etc..
Sometimes it makes me wonder what would happen if a natural disaster happened in my area and did just enough damage to throw people into a semi-psychotic panic state where they don't want to leave their property and wait it out. I'm sure those neighbors you say hi to every now and then might come knocking on your door wanting to "borrow" your backup generator when you are the only one within a few miles who has one that works.
Also with people video-taping all the time its going to be easier to catch people in the act of doing something stupid, whether it be a cop tasering someone into a coma or someone escaping from a hit and run accident.
I'm not saying all cops are bad, the majority have good intentions. But the unfortunate thing is we really don't know how appropriate someone will react until they are in that "chaotic" position and panic/go ballistic even when they know they are being recorded.
With the government slowly becoming like a "parent" and continues to involve itself within everyones daily lives people will either give in or defend themselves and their freedoms after a lockdown. Of course the government will label these people as terrorists and the media will try to sway the public opinion toward whoever is sponsoring the Valtrex or "some other drug you really don't need to take if you stay active and eat healthy".
The war won't be so much as massive but will be small ones fought from within.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

I really dislike talkning about this. The American Civil War was the only war fought on American soil by Americans, 3 million fought - ½ million died. It was the greatest war in American history. However I fear that American might have a second Civil at some time in the near future. Its a dirty War (slang) or race war. American is facing hostilities between ethnic groups divided on the basis of race.The term may refer to specific violent acts or to general overt or covert hostilities between ethnic groups. Overall ethnic warefare. Some claim that the war already have started in US slowly. Yet the American news media do not want to talk about the this dirty war, which remains between the lines and unreported. In fact, to even suggest that the war exists is to be discredited.

I don't find what you're saying offensive and in fact I commend you for talking about it. My father has actually told me several times now that I should watch what I say because I do happen to be very vocal about this issue, that I could easily get on big brother's bad side and they'll get rid of me, although I told him that I more than likely am a nobody to the government and it's easy enough for them to discredit me anyway if they really saw me as a threat. That being said, I do believe this is something that should be talked about, that we should be screaming to the rest of americans that have become brainwashed by the media (I actually no longer listen to the TV anymore for this same reason).
I've said it many times before, that the only way I can see the U.S. government actually taking us seriously again as citizens, is ONLY (at least in my opinion) is if we actually march towards the houses of governments bearing arms or through purposeful civil disobedience, the same as our forefathers did. Harsh? maybe, but lets be honest with each other. Unfortunately, I don't think a protest consisting of simply screaming and waving signs or even a quiet protest like ghandi's would work with today's government, and the reason being because all these politicians have to do is sit down in their ivory mansions, watch TV and laugh at us from their windows, or put on some music to block out our message. We have to actually become a threat to them or their career in order for them to take us seriously. Again, harsh? maybe, but the only way they'll listen to us is when it starts becoming personal.
A civil war, or a major case of nationwide civil disobedience is the only way I see out of this. Will we win? who knows, but to be honest, I'd rather die a free man than become a permanent slave to the government (Real ID cards and chip implants.) Some say Ron Paul will be the one to save us, but lets be honest, he alone as president won't be able to do anything, especially if both parties see him as a threat, they will simply vote against anything he proposes and he'll become a sitting duck president.
I remember talking about this with my father, and he had said in a very serious tone that he believed that the founding fathers, if they were around, not only would they be vomiting at what we have become, but they would have already started fighting. I was scared when he said this, because I know him to be very objective and always doing his research before forming an opinion, and him saying this send chills down my spine because I knew he was right, and what was worse, was that WE were not doing anything about it, and even worse, for me at least, was that I didn't have any clue as to what could be done. The government is just too damn powerful now.
I'm probably risking my livelihood by even mentioning the above, thanks to the FBI's carnivore computer. But nothing I've said, hasn't been said before by other people, besides, I'm sure they'll just try to paint me as a kook. I just hope that at least I can reach some people willing to listen.
