Is it just me or what?

Hi everybody.
I'm new here and I was just trying to get an idea how this place works.
MMORPG.com is BIG and it will definitely become my main source of info about MOORPGs, but I have a little question.
I checked ratings of about 4-5 online games such as Eve online, City of Heroes and Final Fantasy XI. Why is that most people are talking crap about every single game I checked? I mean...City of Heroes is the best rated MMORPG here; even so, most user ratings are negative, just like the game is completely crap.
I know about lots of people playing and enjoying FFIX, but the comments on this game are unforgiving for the most. The same goes for CoH: no content, no fun, it's a childish game...So how can it be best rated MMORPG??
Why is there so many people complaining about the games? Couldn't they just stay home and play Windows Solitaire and save us from their unreliable judgements?

seems to me, alot more people take the time to write up a review if they are mad at the game or hate it. alot of people who like a game, jsut give it a 10 and log back in.
So why are there more people that post their hate than those who post their love ?
i believe most ppl including myself seem to only rate games when they have had a bad experince in the game or dislike the game. there are some that do rate the games when they like them, but more rate when unhappy then when happy. i have stuck up for a few games as they where ok games. and i dont think its unreliable judgements that we give, its how we saw the game we where in. diff games are for diff people and thats why there are so many. i sort of liked SWG but had problems with there customer service when i couldnt get an answer to my problems in the game so i left. to me horizons was an ok game for all but dragon players, they revamped dragons 2 days before the live release to public and so there was no real beta on the dragons (which was reason i got the game) so basicaly playing a dragon was paying to play a beta. to me lineage 2 had to many bots, if you read i think that was the number 1 complaint from most players. again this was the way i saw the games. i did list all the games or all my complaints about them. another player may see the same game completely diff then i do. could be the server your own, or the people you get to know have a lot with how you feel about a game also. bad community and the game sucks, good community and you over look somethings you would normaly hate.
i have never tried FFXI or COH as they didnt appeal to me, EVE online was ok but just wasnt for me, and i couldnt say anything bad about EVE as it wasnt the game. also age can have a bearing on the game. if your 16 and love pvp the game might be great. if your 54 and hate pvp then the game has a lot of griefers and immature ppl on it. so i dont think we should stay home and play windows solitare as we also like games and its just what we feel or think of the game, same as you think its great. just MHO.
the reason more ppl complain then write good about it might be if you dont like it you left and are here looking for another game. if you love or like the game your there playing it, smiles
Yeah these guys are right. Most people who like a game will give it a number rating and keep playing. Whereas those that have just quit the game or dont like what they are playing will take the time to post the negative reviews. Really all those negative reviews are good for is letting you know what some of the bad aspects of the game are. You should read professional reviews to get an overall picture of good vs bad.

I agree. Most people only post bad things.
But the truth is, that is the way I like it. I could care less what a fanboi has to say about a game. They are just gonna say it is great, blah, blah, blah, best game ever, blah, blah, blah.
But, you can easily weed out the poeple who are just knocking the game hard to spite it. Then you find the people who post their real complaints. And it is those complaints I want to read. If the grind is horrible, or there are minor bugs that will bother the hell outta you, etc...
It is those sorts of reviews I want to see. Then I can weigh what people feel are truly bad about the game against the things I don't mind or can live with to decide if I want to play a game or not.

No it just comes to be that people don't give games a chance once they change something they like about it. I do agree that it is just easier to whine about the game then to defend it.
