I have a daughter in her second year of college, and another three years away,
Daddy aint getting a new computer for christmas, or anytime soon.
I can play LotR and EQ2 without a problem and I was in beta for a while,
but we all know how that went. I keep hearing good things about the
direction V:SOH is taking and would like to vist and see for myself.
Pentium 4 2.4Ghz
1mb of Ram
ATI Radeon 9550
I'm kinda computer illiterate so if any more information about my computer is needed
please let me know.
Thanks in Advance

I doubt that it will run it anything near satisfactory, sorry.
Really need a better card and more memory. Maybe the CPU is sufficient.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
I agree with the poster above me.
You really want to 2g of ram for Vanguard and for other games. I recently installed a third gig of ram in my PC and Vanguard runs a lot better. Today, my performance in Vanguard is consistently 95% unless I am in a crowded town/city or dungeon. Performance is the best it has ever been but you still need a good system.
[Well, you know what, if you can run EQ 2 fine, I would suggest giving it a shot. You will have to turn down the settings, but a significant part of Vanguard's beauty and world immersion is its graphics.]
Sound card
I also suggest you get a sound card. Easy to install, no wires, and enhances immersion with perhaps a significant performance boost. Getting a sound card and surround sound speakers is perhaps the best investment I have made in my PC for gaming, movies, inter alia. It is well worth it.

WoW and fast food = commercial successes.
I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
I agree with the above posters, running VG on your system would be an exercise in frustration
I started playing vanguard with a 2.3 Ghz, GF 6800 system, with 1 Gig ram.
I got about 15-20 FPS on the lowest settings. It was not pretty but very playable.
To visualise the requirements of VG:SoH compared to your machine specifications, you could visit www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
Select Vanguard from the drop down list and hit the button. It's a nice way to find out if your computer can handle the game you chose from the drop down list.
With all the work that has been done on the game the requirements have been getting lower. I'd say your machine is definitely on the lower end but the thing that I think would most likely be a problem is your graphics card. I'm not familiar with it but I think that is a pretty old ATI card. The issue is that some of the more advanced features or later graphics cards are using in the game and might not exist in your card.
I'd say you want a card with at least 236mb ram and something not more then 3 years old and thats a reference to the technology not when you bought the card. I'm more familiar with the nvidia cards and for that card you want a gforce 7xxx card or later.
As to your CPU and Memory. I think on low settings your system would handle the game. I know a lot of people might say you need more memory but in my recent testing I'm not seeing VG use anywhere near as much memory as it did in the past. Course I should do a longer test I only ran around for like 30 minutes monitoring memory in one of the major cities. For me on highest quality settings I was seeing less then 700mb memory used by VG. That should be easily runnable on a 1gb system as long as you don't have a bunch of unnecessary stuff running in the background.
