LF something more HC than WoW

ninja59ninja59 Member Posts: 2

Okay I know many ppl have previously been looking for replacements for WoW. So am I but I still want to specify what it is I am looking for. I would like a game that is by graphics quite equal to WoW, I like the environment. But as I am quite the hardcore gamer I would like the game to be a lot more complex in game play, I tend to get irritated by all the "n00bs" who can easily obtain just as good gear as I get form the highest raid bosses by leeching points in PVP battlegrounds.

I used to play Anarchy Online earlier and I would really love a game which requires lots and lots of knowledge to master. I would also like the game to be just a bit more complex to master in combats than WoW, I don’t like the fact that as a mage I tend to just keep spamming 2 buttons when it comes to PVE.

PVP I optional but a faction based no-looting PVP would really be a big plus. Crafting on the other hand should really be a big part of the game.

I would also like the game to be more world event and community based than WoW is. I really like the group/raid instance system but I would also like to see i.e. more random attacks on cities that really does have big impact on the game. The game doesn’t need to be all that easily soloable as WoW would like something more like FFXI.

In summary:

  • Good endgame
  • WoW graphics
  • Faction based PVP
  • Deep crafting
  • Complexity in game play
  • Tough to master, lots to learn and discover
  • Rewarding for HC gamers
  • Something quite new

Any ideas? All suggestions are welcome

Um, Warhammer Online has WoW graphics and RvR but not very complex.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is complex but realistic graphics

    btw, WoW graphics suck so...

Frankly, if a game such as the one you mentioned actually existed, I would have switched to it ages ago. SWG pre-CU is probably the closest game I can think of (awesome factional PvP). Perfect World meets some of the criteria, but it's not as complex as Vanguard. I'm still hoping that Conan will be a great game.

As of right now, I'm still playing WoW as it offers a decent balance between PvE and PvP. Also, due to school, I switch between running instances with my guild and PvPing for gear. Note that I don't "leech" honor points either, and I'm certainly not a "n00b" to MMORPGs or WoW. I hate that term. Surely you're aware that the new reporting system prevents AFKers from gaining honor? Back on topic, while it's an old game, you may want to try DAoC as it offers practically everything you asked for. I enjoyed that game personally. And one of the recent updates changed the housing system in FFXI; you can now invite other players into  your house, so why not give FFXI  a try?

EVE, but you have to first do the trial to determine if it is worth the time investment. Only problem is no matter how much you play you won't be able to powergrind skills, unless you invest a lot of time into generating ISK and then buying a high level character through the CCP sponsored system.

The main difference is that PVP is not purely consensual (Pirates, highsec suicide squad, etc) and the cost of losing your ship is obviously high.
