I've only been *seriously* following Age of Conan for the past 2-3 weeks. In that time I have come to appreciate many of the unique features Funcom is trying to bring to the MMO genre, and I can't wait until March to jump into Hyborea.
That being said, let me fill you in on why it took me so long to actually begin paying attention to this game:
Age of Conan looks juvenile and gimmicky at first glance.
Indeed, if you know anything about Conan lore, you will find that the game is doing an extremely impressve job at conveying the dark, primitive and brutal image of Hyborea envisioned by Howard. However, I don't believe Funcom does a very good job in conveying this to the public. Instead, in all the interviews (Jorgen Thareldsen is by far the worst), the violence is mentioned as if it's a 13 year old seeing Mortal Kombat for the first time, or in the case of the sexual elements, you almost expect them to do the Beavis and Butthead "huh huh huh" after each mention of "titties".
Long story short--for marketing a Mature rated game--I don't think Funcom is, or ever has been, very mature about it themselves.

There was a post from LordOrion (Erling) on the O-Forums right after the Women in Hyboria Friday Update, (at least that's when I think it was) he basically said that they wanted to focus on things that were going to be different in AoC than other MMO's, but perhaps the way that they were doing that was coming off as juvenile, and they would have to think again about the way they were approaching that.
I still dont see the change, but at least internally it was recognized that they needed to look at it.
If you think about it parents wont let little kids play the game because of the ingame nudity and the obvious mature content.
Therefor almost every person playing will be either mature teens or adults, kids will be forced out of playing the game by there parents.
This will for very first time in mmorpg's make the playerbase almost all mature older people.
No more little kids running around cursing and screaming and ruining game play for others.
I hope they put on the Box in very large letters "NUDITY" "18+" and "GORE" it will make any parent say hell no tot here stupid kids when they ask for it.
Correction. It will be immature older people running around cursing and screaming and ruining the game play for others.

Your logic is flawed. Some parents don't care what their children play and some children will get the game even with a mature rating and play it regardless of what their parents say. And then you have the 'adults' who are less 'mature' then some of the 'kids; who'll play.
Therefore, you'll have a good many immature players playing AoC.
I said it before, and in fact i may have posted in this thread, i posted in something similar before, anywhos.
Nudity and blood and gore, will attract people in the 15-22 group more then actual "mature" players, in fact i would guess they would attract the "leetskeet" people more then anything.
I can't honestly see anyone over the age of 22, ever looking at a list of mmorpgs, and say "Hey this has breasts, and tons of gore, i'll get it, over this other game."
In fact i see AoC adding in these features as a way to draw in a more IMMATURE playerbase.
They are adding these to make the game seem edgy, and make it seem different then others. When in fact, i just find it rediculous.
It's been a long standing idea. Adding blood=cool.
Play vandal hearts for the playstation, kill a enemy and fountains of blood pour into the air. Why? BECAUSE IT'S BRUTALLLLLLL!
20 odd pages about nothing. There will be no nudity in this game; unless Funcom/Eidos thinks they can survive an 'Adults Only' ESRB rating. Many retailers, including Walmart, will not stock AO rated games. I don't think Europeans understand how silly Americans are about nudity.

You didn't bother reading the entire thread did you? It has been proven by screenshots in this thread and by a link and quote from the developers that there is in fact nudity in the game. Read the entire thread and do your research before making a stupid, ill informed post.
A couple years ago I helped my Mother move. In doing so I found an old Conan comic book I owned as a kid. After glancing at it , my jaw dropped at the level of violence tand adult theme involved. They really were not for kids, but thats exactly what made kids want it. The game is no different. On 1 hand its amriable they are staying true to the original design of the conan world., the downside is the game will attract kids.
More adult than the nudity in Conan is the level of violence aparent in the videos, yet nobody talks about this as anything but a selling point. I find it interesting that paople are so concerned with a few boobs but arent concerned about the extrodinary violence
this whole argument violence is overlooked but nudity is shunned reminds me of the cannabis vs. alchohal argument, violence is on tv, in games and is perfectly fine for the average person, but nudity is not on tv and gets brows raised when it is put into games and brought out into the open, alchol is legal and generally accepted whilst cannabis is not tolerated and shunned by most, now we all know that the crimes that are from marijuana is because it is illegal and it is much more safer than alchol anyday of the week, i think people are just scared that the poptarts and cookies will be stolen if mariajuana prohibition ends, on all these subjects anyway is where i dont see the common sense of civilization. And i am proud to say i dont even smoke pot or drink anymore, but i do know that drinking does much more damage to everything than pot ever could in a million years if it was legal.

The game 'Conan' which was release like 2 months ago has nudity in the game. The womens breast are obviously visable in the game. . .MANY of times. Yet it only recieved a M rating. The only way it would get AO is if it started to show Penis and Vaginas.

Oh well, I love boobs. So I wouldn't mind boobs around the cities.
My only concern is with boob guilds, zerging around topless. That would look very, very silly on the battleground.. But hey, boobs?
