Blizzard has announced that they have partnered with FigurePrints, a company that makes collectible statues of World of Warcraft characters.
We can recreate your favorite World of Warcraft® character as a fully detailed 3D replica rivaling the beauty of any miniature figure ever made. Using 3D modeling techniques pioneered by special effects houses and manufacturing technology that allows even the most complicated of these models to be created, FigurePrints can bring your fully outfitted, one-of-a-kind World of Warcraft® character to your doorstep. Here’s how:
- Select your character: Tell us your character name and realm and we will take a snapshot of your character as he/she appears on Blizzard Entertainment®'s Armory website.
- Outfit your gear: We give you the option of outfitting any of the gear that you currently possess for that character. Pick and choose the gear that shows them at their most epic!
- Order your FigurePrint: Then let us create your fully customized World of Warcraft® character replica using our 3D modeling and next-gen fabrication techniques.

And this, ladies and gents, is what makes blizzard, blizzard. They get to lay back and have fun with their game while other developers and scrambling just to catch up.

Now CCP needs to take a lesson from Blizzard and do something like this with their ship models in EVE Online. Heck, I would think it would be much cheaper for Ship models since there's a finite number of ship types to begin with.

Typical 6-8 inch busts of say comic or lotr characters easily go for $150. Considering it's a custom made piece, i'd consider it a bargain. Now if only it were a touch bigger than 6 inches....

and you're right, this is a cheap price based on the fact its a custom statuette, I have one of Ironman that was much more than that and pretty much the same size.

This is a good idea from Blizzard. Considering the pre rendered figures go for about half the price I think its cheap to get your own custom made one. What will Blizzards think tank come up with next to make us seperate from our ca$h?

wow (no pun intended), very cool idea! the figures look really good, and i agree for $100 i think it's a bargain. if only i played WoW and thus had a figure to cast . . .

At first glance this looks really cool. Unfortunately one thing Blizzard lacks in WoW is character customization.
Character customization is one thing SWG got right. I loved being able to create a unique appearing toon in SWG . Even the armor/clothes were customizable.
If you have seen one Orc warrior in Tier 5 you have seen them all.
Zaps, you obviously still play SWG, why don't you go over to the real SWG forums and beg SoE to do this for your SWG character, don't be hating on Blizzard cause they did something cool like this. I'll be looking at my night elf hunter in "What ever outfit I choose for her to be in" on my desk next to my monitor, while you're sitting there crying because you have a watered down jedi and can't get a cool statue of said jedi because SoE is too lame to think of it.

i remember reading about 3D fab quite a while ago, wonder why it took someone so long to make the connection between 3D game models and that tool, AND WHY DIDNT I THINK OF IT FIRST!!!

I started SWG July 03' and canceled July 06'. I started playing WoW after canceling SWG. I still play WoW.
Bottom line is character customization in SWG blows WoW away. Unfortunately for SWG their questing sucks, their content sucks, their player base sucks, and most of all their developers suck. JTL is awesome, but after the ass raping they gave their pre CURB players JTL wasn't enough to keep me around.
Oh and fyi I have four 70s in WoW. One of which is 4/5 Tier 4 Feral Druid that has MT everything in SSC. Yeah, I hate Blizz.
Can they do the Mongoose enchant on my daggers?
