Real quick question for you all... if you were, say, banned from the game and disputed it with your initial e-mail back, how long do you think it would take for them to see the error of their ways.
The story...
I bought a new copy of WoW to get back into the game with some of my friends, as I had lost all of my previous account data and keys, and I get to start a new character. I play him for about four days, am quite happy with him. At this point my friends I play WoW with come over to play Rock Band, I go AFK and play Rock Band. I come back an hour later and I'm disconnected from the server, not only that but I'm banned for exploiting. The only thing in my mind was, "WTH?! I got banned for being AFK?? No, EXPLOITING WHILE AFK?!"
Needless to say I was not happy. Back to the reason... Any idea how long it takes Blizzard to actually do anything about their accounts? Because this is pretty dumb.

well, for you. it is *time, time, is on there side*
I had a problem when my wow account was hacked, I finally got back the items *sold* , but by all means..... patience is in order. I feel, as Blizzard worked with me, they will for you also. Enjoy the holiday season...

Two options :
1. One or more of your friends had some fun at your expense. (so-so)
2. You were running a macro while you were 'AFK'. (would be my bet)
In either case, it is likely to take weeks. And if you were running a macro, then never. And if your friends violated TOS, also never.
What is your character's name and what server do you play on? I'd like to take a look at your Armory. If you can provide a link that would be fine as well.
I smell something. Smells like BS.
OP what were you doing when you went AFK?
Exploiting in WoW is big business now. They have to be tough. To allow exploits may lead to tens of thousands of dollars in exploits to be released. Its a "Guilty until proven innocent" approach, but I honestly believe thats the best way...also, Bliz is republican ...ok,,ok I apologize, thats mean.

Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Dude, you don't get banned for exploiting just for going AFK, if that was the case i would have been banned a hundred times over. One thing struck me in reading your little story and that was why did you leave your account logged on when you knew you were going off to do stuff with your mates, just didn't make sense! I am sorry, but something doesn't quite add up here, little more info would be good.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Ok, more info would be good.
First off, I don't macro, basically ever because I am both lazy and an idiot. Didn't even do that in my time playing up to 80 on EQ2 and up to 70 on EQ1.
I left myself logged in simply because I was outside of an outpost next to guards. I didn't feel the need to log off. I do that on pretty much all of my characters in any game I play. Which is why sometimes it looks like I have far less of a life than I do.
I am also only level 11. My items are basically only vendor bought or quest pieces.
That's all the extra info.

I think there would be something wrong wtih the account you buy.
Maybe your character was struck down with The Sword of a Thousand Truths?
Seriously though, sounds like you may need to question your mates, or check your PC for third party programs that may have been naughty and running in the background.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
But if that was the case, warden would have caught it right off the bat. Hell, my computer has a 600gig hard drive and 3/4's of it are taken up and it takes six hours to scan... warden would have caught something in the last few days he played...
"And after blizzard takes over the world, they are gonna gather a bunch of lemmings, sit on their fat asses near a cliff, and watch the little fuzzy bastards suicide dive into the ground below. . . . . all just for their own entertainment."
I refuse to believe the OP is telling the whole truth, still. Blizzard wouldn't just find all AFK players and ban them. Either you did something and want us to be on your side, or your friends did something. Simple as that.
If it smells like a fish....
Smells fishey? Well sadly this isn't. I just think I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I mean crap, I've never been banned from anything. But hell I'll be back online soon, finally got the blasted e-mail with the form I need to fax back to them. I mean, wow, getting banned like that within the first week of the free month was quite odd.
GTFO my internets!
Still, you are saying they banned you for sitting there. I know for a fact Blizzard didn't do this. So you are either lying or ignorant.
Before I go on, it would be easier if you just told us and not lie. If you are lying...
The only other explanation in the off chance you are telling the truth, is that you were ignorant to your wrong doing. Some examples include going against the ToS such as buying gold/characters/items, macros, illegal addons, private servers, stealing/scamming, friends did something.
More likely than not, I would have been ignorant to any wrong doing. Hell, in my time on EQ2, I'm normally one of the people who calls people on exploits and submits bug reports (that's right people, I'm the one that got the forever skill-up logs in the tower of zarrvon to be fixed.) But hell, if I find out one of my friends did do something then I will be so terribly pissed... they will also be paying for my next month on WoW.

What surprises me is that he gives the impression that he was expecting still to be logged on after 1 h.
My guess? Probably on his second account with this one being watched as well and they caught him botting
As for why he wants to stay online, if you have a lot of summoned bread and water, you will want to stay online.
Sadly, one pc. No botting for me. I just wasn't used to being in an MMO that auto kicked you after a period of time. So I had no idea that I'd be disconnected in the first place. Remember I'm coming from EQ2. I've been afk a full 24hrs at least once or twice on there. Being afk is not a big deal to me.
GTFO my internets!
Ow please, and you're trying to convince us now that you "didn't know" that going afk for an hour would dc?
"keys"
Exploited-> Banned -> Watched -> Exploited -> Banned again
Yes, yes I am. And all of my old accounts have been inactive for well over a year. Like I said, I come from EQ2. We don't dc from being afk. I also had played Guild Wars, no afk dc'ing. And EQ1, no afk dc'ing.
See a trend here? All the games I had played for well over a year had no afk disconnections?
So going back to WoW after over a year, one might not remember that you get disconnected after a few minutes of being stationary. We might not all be perfect little robots who don't forget anything ever. Hell, I don't think I ever had this problem back when I first started playing.
GTFO my internets!
maybe you have a key logger? just a random guess..
That's something my friends said may have happened. I don't know how I would have got one, but hell. I've spent the better part of the day trying to rid my computer of these damned pop-ups that started flowing in.
GTFO my internets!
if you cant find anything maybe format your computer to be safe and then you wll have a fresh start and make sure you have all of your security well updated and so o i couldnt think of anything else but an key logger
Thanks for the input, I pray I don't have to reformat.
GTFO my internets!
Sure doesnt sound right the way you say it.
Perhaps you were using a certain lvling bot with some certain lvling profiles that got you banned
That sounds like your issue.
List of SOE lies
Again, sadly no. Then I wouldn't be so against this ban. No bots, nothing. Just me, my voidwalker, and the afk tag sitting outside of Farstriders.
