Worth Coming Back?

D4rv3nD4rv3n Member Posts: 164

Hello!

Well first of all I never got any high in WoW (never been 60+), but i guess i had some decent lvls (30's - late 40's) and I stopped playing because of my computer setup, I used to play on like 15 - 20 fps... but since I'm getting a new computer right now (it's going to arrive tmrw) I was wondering if it is worth coming back to WoW? From what I see there is a new expansion coming soon, but there is no new servers.... Is it still any good down there or not worth paying... Well I got the game and the expansion just need to get some credits for my acc.... If yes, what server wud be good?

Thanks, D4rv3n!

If you quit because of performance issues, and not because you didn't enjoy the game, then I say go for it.  WoW gets a lot of negative press because so many people play it, and consequently a lot of those people are inherently going to be winey babies...WoW is still the best that you are going to get as far as fantasy MMO's go though.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

I sent you a scroll of ressurection which will allow you to play free for 10 days and then you can decide if you want to stay.  If you use the scroll I sent you, you may still be able to recover your characters and continue playing on whichever server you played before.

If you can't recover your characters, I would pick one that is a medium pop server.  If you go for a high pop server you could run into queues and you don't wan't that and a low pop server will probably not give you as many opportunities to group up as a medium pop server will.

    Good Luck.

If you enjoy PVE games, then WoW is the one to play. At this time WoW remains the best PVE MMORPG released. However, everything is so documented , that it doesnt really have the true feel of "discovery" that you get with other games. If you like PvP, I suggest trying a true PvP based game

    Good Luck

If it was the properties of your computer that drove you away from this game, I tell you is is worth coming back. The game is wonderful, isn't it?

Wow was fun enough, just not for me. If you only quit because funny burned plastic smells started coming from your pc every time more than 4 people were on screen...then I'd say go back and play it. :CP

nooo :D like i was able to play it at around 15 - 25fps all cuz of PCI video card tho, now I will be getting quad-core, geforce 8800 GT superclocked, 4 gigs of ram, so i shud run 100+ fps on all highest, and i also used to make a lot of characters and i kept on changing classes.... im thinking of playing priest or warrior now... which ones better and why :P

While I realize that this is going to sound like a broken record, play the class you enjoy the most. As any WoW veteran will tell  you, the classes are constantly being "revamped," "nerfed," "buffed," whatever you want to call it, and priests and warriors are both useful classes in various settings. Of course, any class can be useful with a decent player behind the character. In my opinion, playing the FOTM class is just stupid as you know it will change at some point.

I play a 70 paladin and my friend plays a 70 warrior, and we do quite well together in both PvP and PvE. Again, it depends on your play style. Priests and warriors play very differently, as I'm certain you already know. Maybe you should play both classes to around level 20 or so and then make a decision. Or if you truly can't make up your mind, let me suggest a druid. My brother enjoys rolling new classes constantly and he finally settled on a druid due to its ability to function as several different roles. Keep experimenting!

I'd also recommend that you join a decent guild if you don't have any friends that you play with already; it makes a world of difference. Depending on the type of endgame you wish to experience (e.g. raiding or PvP), you may want to look at different guilds and decide what suits your needs.

    I woudn't bother

the community in general for wow is utterely horrible

Every guild plays favorites, the game is completely raid oriented after you hit max level, and the rep grinding makes the game so not fun.

    find something else.

    since patch 2.3,

levelling is much faster and almost all outdoor heroic content under 60 is now non-heroic

its easier than ever to level many characters - and solo many group quests that were formerly elite

(an example:  I did a few Slithus Hive quests, never did them before because it didnt seem worth the effort of trying to solo a bunch of elites)

I'm sure you will have fun

Numbers mean nothing, if you played because someone else does - your view isn't really quantiefied againt the wealth of options.

WoW is far more Raid or repetition inclined in end game. If you want that, go for it, otherwise there are countless alternatives.

    You're not alexander

  • RecantRecant Member UncommonPosts: 1,586

WoW is mostly repetitive in the end game, but it does provide more options than most MMOs.

While other MMOs "fix" perceived problems that WoW has, you lose out on other stuff.  IE - meaningful death in EVE, is nullified by the idiocy of gate camping.

It's not popular with people here, but in case you haven't noticed, everyone here is pretty jaded.

Everyone else seems to regard it as the best, including games journalists, game devs, casual and hardcore gamers alike.

But that doesn't mean you have to like it, no game will please everyone.  If everyone agreed that WoW was the best, there would be no need for other MMOs.

It is the best tho :p

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

WoW is an ok "game" but the community is really horrible abd that runis it for me and a lot of the other MMO Vets.

And one more thing that's interesting, the low lvl areas are never realy empty, unless your playtime is in the middle of the night, mostly maxed outs and HCs play then. Yesterday, I took my 70 to Hillsbrad and typed who, there was 5 lvl 70 there, around 10 ppl in 30-70 range and around 10 lvl 20-30....

I'm not saying it's always like that, but since they buffed the XP gain it seems it's more often that not, so whatever you decide, you can at least have some fun, which is alot more than you can expect from some other MMOs.

Yeah, I think it would be worth coming back, especially since the new expantion is coming out. You're going to need as much time to get to level 70 before the expantion comes out, so that you can explore the higher level areas throughout northrend.
