Greenskins for me, probably a Choppa.
I know that I'm the minority here, but I have a tendancy to go with the Dwarf Healer/Support role for my first character. I find that after having played a Healer/Support class you know the capability's of every other class...cuase you spent most fights watching their backs! Alot easier to make an educated decision on my next character that way. Besides, us healer types (and tanks as well) always seem to be in short supply, and are always well received into groups.
I shall be going high elf.

Honestly, its not so much which army do I want to fight with
its who I want to fight against. I think everyone is going to flock to the greenskin, dark elf and chaos much more than the order faction. I think Ill likely end up empire. I want a chance to show those Chaos players that a cool class doesnt mean you win

I am leaning toward High Elves, for a few reasons:
~ I like the region -- a huge, circular island mass -- that is their homeland.
~ The "neighbors" are the Dark Elves, which cool to fight against.
~ People either love High Elves or love to kill High Elves, in either case, High Elves will tend to see plenty of action (example: Emain Macha, Hiberian Frontier, in DAoC). Hibby zerg!
~ Also, they are pretty.
When I am killing enemies, I like to look good doing it. Heh.

I have been deciding between who i might fight for so far and i think i have come down to Empire as a Warrior priest. Ill be the first to tell you that i have never played a support character before but I love the style of the Warrior priest that i have to try it...and from what i have been reading and watching from the podcasts and what not the fact that they are not helpless in battle makes it so much better for me. I dont mind healing others but if i have to sit back and watch the fight...that to me is boring i want to be up in the fray doing my share of the dirty work. Honestly the only other army that interests me are the dwarves but i really dont have a class picked out from them so they arent as high on my priority list
I shall take up arms as a warrior priest for the empire.

High Elf Swordmaster.
Though only 32 votes have been cast, so the current results are very unreliable, this is the most balanced army poll I have seen so far. For once, Destruction is not winning across the board.
Of course, Dark Elves are dominating as a singular army by far, but that is to be expected. The dark, evil, sexy, "gothy", etc., race always dominates numbers. I almost want to be a High Elf just to counter them, except I'd much rather be a human.
Pointy ears suck.
To be perfectly honest, this is the first time I've ever felt like I could jump in and be perfectly fine playing any race. In terms of interest, however, I think the sorcerer/ess class sounds like an interesting take on the mage archtype and so I voted for dark elf, but in the end I intend on playing at least 1 of everything.
edit: note that I'm not a warhammer fan at all, so I'm not sure how things play out normally, but starting on researching the old school game.
I picked Warrior priest but I'm really not sure atm, there are a few careers not announced yet.

Well I've always loved Dark Elves, so it's a pretty easy decision for me
