For some reason (that I will not even try to understand) my other post on this same topic was moved to the CLASSIC Jumpgate forums. By all means, allow the 750th WoW thread to stay in the general discussion forums but bury a legitimate informational post—which is on the front page of numerous other MMOG sites and this site has yet to report.

Don't take this the wrong way, but what will this game have that EVE doesn't?
Can someone make a side-by-side comparison? It would help.

not simular at all... infact when i played the EVE demo i couldn't beleive you didn't fly with a joystick.
Small ships = fast and nimble.
Big ships = Slow and cumbersome.
Its simple Physics.
And i have no idea where you get the Text based adventure BS from. And from what i hear Junpgate failed and this is just a graphics overhaul for the same old game..... At a price.

Know what's funny. I sold my main for ISK and I'm training up a new main. I don't even play right now because, all I have are learning skills and starting support skills. But by the time a good game actually comes out, I'll probably be flying capitals and not want to leave EVE. New games keep sucking and my EVE character keeps getting stronger...lol
I could be waaay off though.

Didn't mean to insult the EVE fanatics... i forgot this site was infested with them.. last time i checked all the starter ships were tiny things...and the game is practically text based... you set your guy who train things... log out and a few hours later its done! want to travel? open up the map and click a few things then go watch tv for 30 min while you travel... mining? just click and alt+tab till your full. I only fought stupid beginer enemies which seemed extinct even with ZERO other players around to kill the spawns.. you just click on him from a list of enemies on a drop down menu and you click to orbit around him... then you just click your weapons as you circle around.No one even knows what EVE is outside of this site... and jumpgate was fairly popular several years ago.
So whats so cool about jumpgate then that EvE doesant have [Content wise]?
Does it have Mobs.
Does it have classes.
Is it skill basedor levelbased?
Tell me about the different ships you can pilot?
What races arer there?
Are there aiens?
Does it have a good ingame market thats even close to EvE's ?
Does it have trading possabilitys?
Is it linear or sandbox based?
These are questions id LOVE to know the answer too [it is nice to see another space based MMO at last]. Afterall i love space based MMO's shame tho that EvE is the only successfull one......Yet!!!

Whats to be afraid about this is actually a good thing.
Its NICE to have a possable alternative MMO to play. Afterall till now there was no other Space based trading combat MMO out there. I hope Jumpgate Evolution does well.
Of course you are going to get a few people on both sides of the camp who are going to troll but im sure that most people will just ignore it and chose the space MMO they prefer and enjoy there gametime.
I personally ahve played EvE for 4 years but not because i Love eve above all else but because there was nothing else i liked enough to leave EvE for. So who knows?

No offense, but if you do a little of the research yourself you will find the answers to all these questions and much more. And it will be directly from the devs' mouths so you can be sure it is accurate.
This site has several articles and the JGE forums here have several informative threads with multiple posts by the devs. Additionally, if you go to the game's official website, you will find links in the News section for 10 interviews/dev journals.

We will see what the game will be like. But i fear it will not be good enough to beat my Eve.
One thing Jumpgate will hopefully have that EVE doesn't: honest devs that don't cheat their own players

When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Maybe it wont be so bad. I mean with the WoW WAR thing there are millions of wow fans....each of them waiting to make a stupid post about how war ripped of WoW.
My point being, there will be a smaller playerbase to explain the differences between EVE and Jumpgate Evolution. And Id expect that the player base of EVE is a bit more mature.
To be fare to me when i made that post it was past 4AM and i was getting ready for bed so i thought id just post those questions for the late night forum users as i ddint have time to search myself.

Nice that the website is up before the end of the year. Looking forward to the beta.
Wow, even the small in-game footage on the main page has me completely excited about this game. I realize it is something small, but just seeing the ships leaving trails while moving through a real in-game setting is enough to get me excited. I do like the colorful look of it like a few other people have stated, but then I never really found other sci-fi space MMOs that depressing and dark.

Yes getting a bit bored with all the "conventional " fantasy games. More space and sci-fi please!
