OK total DAoC newb here. I know nothing a/b ToA and how the classic servers work. My wife and I are casual game players. I KNOW for a fact we don't want another Grind feast game.
I know that both of us like the trial so far
A friend of mine just reactived his account. He plays on Halagad a regular server, where my wife and I have been playing. I was thinking of rolling a toon on a classic server if it is easier to lvl and has a newbie friendly ring to it.
If there is no real differnece, I will just stay on Halagad, if no I can play on a classic server as well.
Any info, input, advice, points of views, psychic readings or what ever is GREATLY appricated~!!!!!!!!
sorry if you are viewing this twice, I had a repost in a differnt thread....

Well the main difference between classic and normal server is this
- Classic server has no ToA expansion
- Buffs are limited to group which means that you can't have a buffbot sitting at the realm gate while you're out there fully buffed killing contently. For the buffs to work the buff bot has to be in your group and there is also range on them too. This is the main reason people purchase buff potions and use them on the Classic servers.
That's about it. Whatever else you find on normal servers you'll find on classics. I played on Classics for quite some time when ToA was released. I've also quit and reactivated twice and both times I've returned to the classics. This was up until June of this year.
By the way it's Galahad, not Halagad. You know... like one of Arthur's knights.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
In all reality, if you are a true newb, it makes no difference what type of server you are on. The last few toons I made, I soloed to 50 with only a little grouping when there was someone who wanted to. It wouldn't have mattered which server I was on since the content I used to level was available on classic and ToA. The only thing about classic is that you are pretty much locking yourself out of about 15% of DAOC's content and resigning yourself to an endless cycle of potion use once you RvR. That said, I preferred to play on classic even though my original toons from launch are on Galahad.
Although i am not subscribed anymore, DAOC is one of the few mmorpgs that remains on my HD.
I was in the same boat a few months back. Roll on Classic, hands down much more fun if your starting fresh.
