Hellgate London - Titan Quest - WoW = Which is the superior game?

Well currently I'm quite interested in all 3 games, having just finished the Titan Quest demo this morning I'm suprised that I didnt properly try out this game earlier, as its bloody awsome. So I was thinking I should perhaps buy that, but I was worrying if perhaps there wouldnt be many people still playing the game, so the community might be abit drained.

Thats when I thought of Hellgate London, a newer diablo-esque game. I've seen some fairly mediocre reviews which steer me off it, but that was at launch and I feel it might have improved. I have played the demo and thought it was actually quite fun, if not rather un-polished.

I may also be tempted to take up WoW again, but bear in mind I have already done the raiding scene to death in that game, and it made my real life crumble around my feet when I was playing it, so this option is in a minority, but yet I still am tempted to go back due to my weak will power.

So, any of the 3 you'd recomend? And can you give me some good reasons to disuade me off WoW again please? :)

Thankyou and Merry Christmas.

I liked titan quest too, surprisingly it was fun. And I have never reallly liked baldur's gate or Neverwinter Nights that much.

I just wanna say don't go back to WoW if it made your life too stresfull and you got into that one vision "I NEED TO RAID, PROGRESS etc" kind of thinking. If anything try to play a few other demo games or pick up Titan quest instead. I think WoW is a great game that's really fun, unless you let the game controll what / how and when you play.

Sorry, I can't say which one to choose, I haven't played Hellgate London, but Titan quest is pretty fun as a casual game.

Try mythos its a diablo 2 style game made by FSS.  Its a lot better than hellgate in my opinion, though a bit fruity for my taste.

Thankyou very much for the replies :)

I'll take what you said on-board about WoW, and I will probably consider waiting before I make my decision about buying Hellgate or Titan Quest, just till I know if Hellgate improves with the patching or not.

I would appreciate an invite to Mythos yes :) I've heard about it and it seems like it would intrigue me. I'll PM you my E-mail. Thankyou very much for the replies :)

In my opinion all those games are horrible horrible MMORPGs. There are not any good MMORPGs out right now. If anyone has a extra key for Mythos beta please let me know I would be interested in testing that one.

Hellgate London for single player, WoW for multiplyer.

Both Hellgate and Ttitanquest become overly repetative very early.

Despite all the haters out there, WoW is the best PVE game currently released. Although Hellgate and titan have good aspects. For all the WoW offers, its just the best at this time.

WoW.   Not just for the MMO genre but gaming in general.  Hellgate was a huge disappointment but maybe they've fixed the bugs by now.

The newest patch should be making hellgate much better from what I hear.

I've played and enjoyed both WoW and Titan Quest, tho I haven't tried Hellgate.  It looks interesting, but the FPS aspect of it put me off.   I've never been fond of those.  Titan Quest  has a good storyline but a far more linear feel then even some older RPG's such as Balder's Gate.  WoW was very enjoyable for me up to the endgame, where my ability to do anything constructive was way too dependant on my adhering to my guild's raid schedule.

Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

Problem with Hellgate and Titanquest, neither are MMO's, not even close.  If you want a MMO, Wow is without doubt the best on the market at the moment, although there are some others that are very close, like EQ2, Lotr, etc.

WoW....simply becouse it has had so many year to polish itself.

  • ZorvanZorvan Member CommonPosts: 8,912

WoW is out of the equation because it's a whole different game than either HG or TQ.

Titan Quest wins over Hellgate: Londonfor the sole fact it never claimed to be anything more than it is, and it's a good game for it's genre.

Titan Quest is a traditional 3rd person view camera rpg.

Hellgate london is a outside the box type thinking fps trying to capture the rpg element.

Right I'm sure if I finish this bottle of rum. It'll make more sense that they should be put into the same category. LOL I'm not even going to comment on the comparison to wow.

You'd have to be an idiot to say anything other than WoW.

    No annoying animated GIF here!

Well, you have to remember that Titan Quest and Hellgate : London are essentially the same game.  Sure, one might have more classes, but what they both boil down to is using one or two skills and wearing out  a mouse's left button.

I enjoyed Titan Quest longer for a few reasons, namely the inventory system was better, and in a game that's all about loot, it's an obvious choice.

Don't forget that story element too, Hellgate is a shallow as the kiddy pool.

I will not, however, suggest  WoW as a game to play.  They did an excellent job on everything except for PvP and end game content.  In the end you're doing the same thing you did in Everquest, grinding some stupid faction or raid boss.  The PvP was destroyed by battlegrounds, and the fact that even on a PVP server, if you kill a person, there's no in game reward, no loot, no ear trophy, nothing.  I know some of you carebears think that's real pvp, but it's not.

Ive played titan quest up to lvl cap.

Ive played hellgate london up to lvl30 and stopped becouse its boring solo game it dont belong on mmorpg.com its not massive at all.

WoW is to casual to carebear to much grind to easy must i go on its simply not good at all.

    So Titanquest wins!

Dont forget the posibillity in skill tree so many classes can have so many various pets its realy fun to play.

Myhtos is Crap, is good if you dont want to bother with the graphical progression that has taken place over the last 8 years lol.

If your looking for a fun MMO try Hellgate, once you purchase the game its free to play unless you want to subscribe (get better items etc) but it isnt necessary, i just started playing a few days ago i am currently at lvl 11 and frankly this is the most fun i have ever had playing an MMO, mind you this game isnt for people who crave deep content this game is for people who like to have fun playing games instead of Crafting etc...all the boring aspects of online gaming lol.  But regardless give Hellgate a try if you like Titan quest/Diablo Hellgate is IMO the future of those 2 games, graphics are very impressive gameplay is smooth, but due to its recent release ther are still some bugs but nothin drastic like other MMO games upon release.

Sorry, I have to disagree. Mythos is the better game, and should have been the main focus instead of Hellgate. Or, they should have made Hellgate with the gameplay and features of Mythos. But since graphics apparently make a game better for you, try Vanguard. I hear it has great graphics.

What level is your charachter in wow? Me, Id go back to wow for the time being. Even if you are bored of raiding there is arena...pvp...make a twink. Very fun and time consuming :)

Titan quest...bleh. I have that game. It was very monotonous and very boring.

I havent heard good things about hellgate london.

Well the skill trees don't mean anything since for each class there are a few skills that a better than others.  Some skills really contribute nothing to your character, other than filling another slot in your bar.

    For example:

Blademaster;  Surge of  Wrath, the best surge spell pales in comparison to Aura of Zeal.  It's an obvious choice(thus making the whole set seem kind of silly).

Heavens Arc;  Seriously, do I even need to go into how bad this is?

Crosscutter VS. Charge.; One does weak damage to an opponent, the other does massive damage and gets you into range.

    Engineer;

The whole list of beacon skills is worthless, you know it.

Construct drones are total weaksauce compared to the Inhibitor/any other bot combo.  It's easy to keep range on baddies with those guys, and you don't have to worry about your pet getting owned.

There's more and more examples, but what I'm trying to say is that each class has one skillset that is simply more powerful than any other, and they're all blatantly obvious.
