So they are adding keeps to spice up world PvP.
That could be fun.
But is this replacing the PvP instanced quests, or just added to the PvP options.... I was actually looking forward to those PvP instanced quests.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

According to them there will be both and they will count equally towards the final goals. I like that they are giving us the option. I enjoy a fair fight with even teams in an instanced BG as much as the next guy but thats not really war is it. War is fought in the open world and the odds are sometimes stacked against me. i like that too.

The keeps are pretty much a straight-up addition - nothing is being taken away that was already planned. Keeps are there simply to add more fun to open RvR, and to give it more of a purpose.
Good job adhering to that NDA you agreed to.

First of all, you cant bash a game for having tech trees. DAoC had them, WoW had them, and many other games ive played have them. They have to give you some way to customize your character as you level, and gain new skills that are stronger compared to how many levels you have gotten and how specialized you are.
Secondly, please do not bash a game unless you can provide a link to an actual beta-tester giving good solid complaints. Right now, i believe the game is still under NDA. Therefore, the ONLY feedback you are going to get is from those beta testers who do not respect the NDA at all, and probably just flame away and complain because the game has bugs and is not finished, ignoring the fact that they are in a BETA and are supposed to be helping find these issues and give ideas to solve them.
I'll be waiting till the NDA is lifted before I begin paying attention to the experiences of the beta testers and changing my hopes for the game based on their words.
hes a troll looking for attention he doesnt actually post anything factual and expects others to believe him...if he is a beta tester he breeched the NDA and should be kicked out and if hes not hes pulling all of this information out of his ass..dont give him the time of day people
While I can understand some of the skepticism and denial about the comments made here, I have heard similar things through other sources and various other guild sites that pretty much confirms that what he says is true. Instead of trying to discredit the poster, you should direct your attention to the content of his post, which unfortunately holds water.
I find it absolutely stunning that Mythic would opt to "go a different direction" that the formula that brought them so much success with DAOC. Maybe sopme of you haven't been around these parts as those of us who saw the Asheron's Call debacle. Anyone remember that? The most innovative MMORPG of its time, and possibly ever spawned a sequel that wanted to change their winning ideas. All Turbine needed to do was make the same game with beter graphics or in a new world, and instead we were given a watered down hot steaming pile of sloppy crap.
Wash your feet people, because a lot of you are going to have them stuffed into your mouths. I find it hillarious that we watch the same thing happen over and over again in this genre and people still live in denial thinking that this is the time it will be different.
They are too far into the development cycle to change the game from the ground up. Whether you like it or not, the average MMORPG'er will see this game as a copy of WoW regardless of who was on the drawing board first.

Yes they are unlikely to change the whole game, but they just added keeps, trophy system, class mastery system, and new classes. It is obvious that they are still working on the classes and other systems in their game. To judge a game that is going through alterations like this based on feedback from beta, on top of the fact that there is not a set release date yet (only an estimate) is still premature. Even AoC recently changed its combo system recently according to published reviews and it is set to come out in 3 months.
The game is still in beta with new features just being implemented and tested according to the newsletters. Trusting people who cant keep their word when they agree to an NDA, that they in turn break, is foolish.
I'll reserve my judgement for when the NDA is removed and we have more of an idea of what the game will be like on release (along with AoC).

none of us here are in denial but we do believe that its still almost 6 months from the suggested launch and they are still implementing stuff that requires a lot of work, and one persons opinion is hardly enough to make me question the game. when the NDA is removed and others start talking about it then you can start making claims that the game is going to be good or bad. until then we shouldnt make any assumptions about the game from just watching the gameplay trailers or podcasts we see.
while this may look like World of Warcraft in the art style and graphics that doesnt mean that every MMO player will automatically assume its a World of Warcraft knockoff. Graphics while a good portion of the games drawing power doesnt make or break the game. I think that once the NDA is dropped and people start talking about the gameplay and how good or bad it is will be the deciding factor in whether people will play. Granted at release we will probably see a huge influx of gamers from World of Warcraft, i dont think they will stay long if they see that the game is quite different from their beloved World of Warcraft. For many of the 9 million subscribers who play World of Warcraft it was their first mmo and while the game was decent, it was based solely around PvE content with PvP added later. This is a completely different scenario where not only is the focus on PvP but there arent alot of Hybrid Classes that can do the damage that the people from World of Warcraft are looking for.
