Is this the type of MMO that you start off choosing armor and thats practically all you look like throughout your gaming expeirience. All the screenies, they all somewhat look the same.

The devs stated in one of their newsletters that there will be different armors and tiers of armor.  They also stated they plan to add dyes and a trophy system to further customize your characters look.  The game is still in beta.  All the screenshots you see are from beta.

Oh, and your character will also supposedly change over time as they become stronger (higher level); ie. dwarves beards get longer, orcs get bigger, etc...

MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S

Definately not.  Yes there are certain "Tiers" of armor that your character can wear, however their is also numerous other sets in the game.  The pictures that most people see show casted are the actual "Tier Sets" of which you aren't limited to wear.  If you were watch other videos from other MMORPG's you will see all of the characters running around in perfectly matching sets of armor.  If you have ever played any of these games you should know that this is almost never the case.  Example - WoW shows off their new armor sets all the freaking time, yet you rarely ever see a character in full tier gear while in game.

You know, I see a lot of people saying that "it isn't so and beards grow  for Dwarves"  etc..etc. I hate to be the naysayer but, until NDA has been lifted and the devs spill more on this system "or you get into beta before release" I would keep going on the videos.

Everygame in the past has had a massive audience that fuel the hype and although they have had the developers take more on their fill in helping with this I'm not gonna jump out my seat and say this game will be a "WOW" killer or a second DAoC coming in the makeing "I really don't see that happening".

Just keep your expectations low like I do and wait til more information is released, that way your not disappointed if things don't turn out as you expected.

    PS.

I have yet to find a hack and slash game other than Guild Wars and Everquest 2 that has matching "completed" (various) PvP and PvE sets. There is nothing more irritating and depressing than wearing a  level 70 plate armor set and the boots look like brown moccasins

    - About 22 sets of armor for each career -

so thats around 528 sets at release.

    Armor Dyes

Trophy System (items you attach to armor)

    People will look different

«Player models that change to reflect the relative power of a character (i.e., Orcs grow in size and Dwarfs' beards get longer). Customizable armor and a visual guild system allow a player to make their character truly unique.»

No more so than Wow's S1 gear you can now obtain through tedious grinding of honor points and marks. The only difference in appearance across the race/faction of players is the size of you character.

Funny how all the talk of what War is or is not going to be and no one but the Devs and Beta testers really have a clue.

War by no means is going to be perfect but I can't wait to try new classes and and pvp without being stunlocked or feared the entire fight.

I play a hunter in wow i have from day one, with S1 gear and roughly 9400 hit points I die in a few seconds thanks to stun lock, fear, death coil etc etc.

I know here come the flames from all the 7 yos, I could care less.  Iv'e beaten hi lv elites when other classes can't even come close to soloing them, but pvp is truly unbalanced.

War might be unbalanced too, but Wow never delivered legendary weapons, new classes within the lore, and many other things lacking in the game.

After playing since open beta its time to hail in a new game and War looks like the one for me.

To each his own opinion, but please stop comparing other games, especially wow as if it has it all. It doesn't and the difference in your character's look with gear is hardly worth mentioning.
