Great new updates

We have gotten much more interesting and realist NPC combat in the last two patches. The first one reduced vigour usage but was not quite right, now that have balanced it.

With Guildhalls (for PvP capture), good NPC combat and such an immersive crafting system this game is becoming the game that Darkfall hopes to.

There is no other MMO with this FPS / skill based style combat.

No game where you can build a city and craft anything you want in a really immersive way.

All it needs now is new players and the old ones to come back,

Bad graphics? No not really, they are not great but the gameplay more than makes up for it.

All in all if more people played they would love this game like the many that already do.

No I am not a fanboy, I have slated this game in earlier months, I think that what they have done now is great :)

well can't say if you are a fanboy or not since on this account you have only been registered few weeks and 2/3 posts is a thumbs up for RV.

But really fanboy or not its good you like the game .But for me after 3  installs and re-installs the desire to do it a 4th time is more or less dead now.

Maybe they should make a free trial on a test server or something to get new blood in.They lack money for ads and have gained a horrible reputation ,so its quite unlikely that pure word of mouth will bring new people into the game since they have to buy the software.

And lets face it after the inital phase of fanboys who swept all the problems this game had and painted a eutopia of this game, very few people on this site will get the game on word of mouth without a free trial.

But for those who bought the game and uninstalled it and have more willpower then me then maybe reinstall it and see if its improved.

That's a pity Hercules, the game has got a lot going for it right now with stacks of potential on the way.

You might not want to try it but for anyone who does remember Roma Victor and hasn't played it in some time, I'd suggest taking just a little look - even if it's just at the forums.

If the game is doing better now, they just have 2 things to change.

-No trial accounts. -> People must be able of trying before buy, as of today this is a must

-Paying for the client. -> In my opinion, they should change their bussines model. Give the client for free and charge a small monthly fee will increase their player base.

Or just totally free to play like Archlord did a few months back.  They already have a micro transaction system, so why not?

A trial server is in the works, as is an optional monthly payment fee.

The price has just dropped to £9.95  Even better. Thats about $20.

Oh and the blood effects are nice now.

Seems like Red Bedlam might have turned the page so to speak with this game now.

I have flamed this game before and it was worthy of those flames. And I still stand by a lot of my complaints. However, I have played it for a few years now and still get enjoyment out of it - even with a low (but seems to be increasing population).

Now, I must say that things have gotten a lot better. Some of the updates have been really good. There is still a lot of bad features, and the game is still not very noob friendly, but it has one main point that I like about it.

It is the only open P V P (with a few exceptions) sandbox game out there, where people can literally get together and build a town from the ground up, fight over it, and (eventually) lose it. War means something here, more than any other game I have played yet. There is a lot of pride in combat, and more than just loot will be at stake according to the planned updates.

Players make this game, that is its greatest asset. The politics are player made, now guildhalls and townships / warbands / tribes, even arena's are player made. The wars, player made. There is more content now than ever.

One thing is for sure, you must join a guild to enjoy this game - the game IS its' players.

What good would a trial server be?  An empty sample of things to come?  Trial accounts would be better.  They could be limited to the starting areas and attending and expire after 14 days or so.  Then newbs would pouplate the starting towns, helping the game, rather than another empty trial server.

What good is a monthly payment fee?  You can do that right now can't you?  Pay the same every month...there you go.  Because it's automated is not going to make much difference, it may actually result in some placing a limit on themselves, their automated payment, resulting in them spending less.

The only thing that makes sense is trial accounts, because after playing the trial, if someone likes the game then they have a reason to pay and continue thier progress.  If it's a trial sever, they have less reason to pay unless their character could be transfered over to the real server.  But it also does not good for the game to have players spread out across two servers.

If you can get used to the horrendous UI and mouse design, then maybe the game is fun to play. But for now the monotony and poorly coded aspects of the simple user interface make the game unplayable for me.

Which is a shame because I have followed this game since 2002, and recently purchased it last month.... was hoping a lot of the kinks had been worked out... but blah.

I'll give it a whirl when they update the UI.

I didn´t play much MMORPG´s, ´cause I´m not very into fantasy games, this eliminating my interest in about 75% of the existing games of the genre.

But I have a big interest in historical games, which brought my eye to this one. But, after everything I read about it, we can only say this game has a very bad reputation.

Despite of that, I would really like to try it, ´cause the historical aspect is very interesting.

However, I believe that the only way to attract, not just me, but many other players, is the free trial period. I really don´t feel much compeled to pay for a game which has so many detractors and so little supporters. I don´t spend my money blindly, I would have to take a good look, then make up my mind.

And not in a Trial server, but in the real game, with the possibility to keep my char(s) if I chose to buy the game.

I believe every company which trusts the quality of the game it runs offers a trial period. RB could do the same for RV. Not just me, but I´m sure many others could join the game.

Sounds to me, like they are making a new "small version" of the game for the trial instead of allowing people to actually play the real game.  It is obvious why, the game is horrible. They figure they can easily code a tiny version to make it look and preform somewhat good, where they cannot do anything to the actual game...apparently.

My guess is that tiny trial world will have archery before the real game world does. Will be easier to implement there. Pretty lame, it is like their second stab at riping off players promoting features that aren't in the game yet. Cause we all know that tiny trial world will preform way better than the actual game does...or ever will.

If they had any balls they would just offer a free trial on the game, the actual game. But that will never happen cause if they did everyone, not just current game owners, would know this game is crap.

Instead of asking for updates or free trials everyone should be asking for new management. As that is the only way this game will ever improve. Honestly I would be surprised if KFR hasn't already fired everyone on his team and has the game on cruise controll as best as possible, just sucking these fools dry, that are willing to keep giving him money. And as soon as they stop...the game will shut down.

The big pisser is this game could have been good, if they had only waited to release the game until they had all of the features in and had everything balanced and tested.Instead they leave their feature page showing a complete and fun game. And wait for players to realize that they don't have even 1/4 of the features in and the game hardly works at all. But you cannot get a refund if you have spent any money...And since the first thing most people do is buy their gear, nearly everyone is SOL. LOL good tactics RB! Way to go ! And keep up the good work ...wait , NVM we know you will!
