From WoW to EQ2&LotRO

Kon85Kon85 Member Posts: 88

Hello,

Well, the topic is clear enough I think; From WoW to EQ2&LotRO.

I'm already playing LotRO(and enjoying it a lot) and I want to play EQ2 as well. Might pick one of them to continue playing after a while, who knows. Anyway, the questions;

If I buy the complete EQ2 box(incl. all expansions) will I be done installing+patching before christmas 2999? Because I cancelled the trial updater after 5 hours in....And that was only the trial version-.-

I've heared about the new expansion being more solo/group oriented. Is this noticable at higher lvl's or also from level 1?

Are there only a few servers(new servers for example) that have loads of low lvl's? Or is it equillay spread out? Since I dislike soloing 24/7.

Thanks in advance,

Kon

p.s no wow didnt suck, just got tired of it.

all of Kunark content is extremely solo quest friendly

    - defined as as 1-20,  70-80

    20-60,

there are plenty of solo quests and patch LU40 gave quest exp a boost - altho I'm not sure how much

    eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Solo_Timelines

there is alot to download through the patcher,

having Kunark will help but still take some hours

    no new servers

but Antonia Bayle and Crushbone have very healthy server populations

I second this opinion with my Anti-Fanboi seal of hate approval for LOTRO...

i.e: LOTRO is junk compared to EQ2...period

    Cheers

I'll be completely honest, when I played EQ2 back in '05, I thought it was garbage compared to WoW, in fact most people did. Fast forward to almost '08, EQ2 has evolved into a MUCH better game. If only people gave it one more chance or tried it out, it'd be a much bigger game than it is right now. LOTRO's gameplay is no where near the depth or even on the same level as EQ2

Please explain this depth you speak of, I have a hard time believing the LOTRO gameplay is no where near EQ2s

It could easily be worse than EQ2s but LOTRO has been out for how long? and EQ2 how long? (I am not giving you the info as you should know this)

haha and openedge gets more and more rediculous.. sorry but you are NOT anti-fanboi you are anti-anyone-that-gives-LOTRO-credit

Other than LOTROs story, what good can you say about it? Honestly? Look at the classes and races that it offers for one thing, the classes are restricted to the lore of the game therefore there are ZEEEEEERO magic classes. The game is pretty group heavy (this can be a good or bad thing) and the PvP is dull (again this is due to lore restrictions)

It's a great game for people who play MMOs to enjoy the ride and not to get the coolest gear in the universe...

I agree.. no magic due to lore restrictions (other than lore masters who might aswell be a mage) is boring as hell. I am not one of those players who wanted to enjoy the ride, I think the game is extremely boring at the moment but unlike some people I enjoyed the game until 50 and didn't quit at 30.

As for races I couldn't care less about them in any MMO, they really shouldn't be counted as a feature in any MMO.. LOTRO have all the basic races... as it's the originating story for those races what do you expect?

Yes the PvMP is also dull for me since I do like an open world PvP system(WoW PvP is just as bad)

I asked you to list things to compare LOTRO to as EQ2 has been out for years and LOTRO has been out for 7 months and it is still growing. I am currently playing EQ2 as it is something fresh and new for me and the fact that it is aged appeals to me while I wait for LOTRO to go through the same process

and again.. this game is not group heavy until endgame

I guess you missed my one post..

I actually said I liked the graphics...the landscapes look great...

Otherwise I cannot help it that...

The game gets boring after level 15, and extreme boredom 30+

The character models look ridiculous actually...of course the clay model versions of EQ2 look funny at times as well...but, feel more detailed and lifelike than the drawn caricatures of LOTRO. (Even WoW with it's stylized look, seems to look better overall for visual quality of character models)

Some of the worst class selections available ...

Clunky animations, dull combat, horrid sound...even though music is cool at times, and other times non-existent or bland...

Aggro is not consistent through combat, sometimes works sometimes not...

Main story quests require grouping to complete storylines, or else you never will feel like you ended the story properly (or you must wait until it turns grey before attempting...)

Taken a loved license and made it bland...period..(Turbine has a good track record for this also...i.e: DDO..)

Now, of course you may call me a liar again..I am unsure...but, this is what I have witnessed, this is what others have confessed on these forums, and on the LOTRO forums, etc..all I know is I am not alone in this...accept that the game is mediocre to a lot of us..

    Cheers

I couldnt agree less with the lotro bashing "facts" that are being written down here:|

Seriously, played WoW for 3 years and I enjoy Lotro JUST AS MUCH. I think the graphics are WAY better(buy a fast pc and you'll agree....-.-) and I think the lore+story is far deeper and interesting. Yes wow has pvp, but i prefer pve. Overal, lotro and wow are on the same level pve wise. And you know what? Lotro was released this year. Everquest+wow got a gazillion patches. Dont compare them equally. And even if you do, or I do, then my conclusion is that I find lotro just as good if not better then WoW. Pve wise.

And you know what? Lotro+EQ2+WoW are all AWESOME mmorpg's overal. Crawl out of your fanboy hole and agree or jump down a bridge-.- Please do, because I'm getting sick of the fanboys around here. Get laid.

Oh, and thanks for answering my questions people--,--

I'm beginning to believe these forums are only being used by grown up men that failed in life, dont get laid and can only support their current mmo and bash all others. Its annoying. (googles for another website).

    Ciao.

I only called you a liar when you told someone that if one were to play solo it would take an extremely long time as you had to kill mobs.. stop stretching what I said you know you lied about it plain and simple...

I feel that the game is most boring for the first 10 levels(on the first play through.. I can't stand the game after the first playthrough but the same goes for any other MMO for me).. the animation is not clunky but the style does take getting used to... the models are clay? You're right EQ2's models are clayish as well but atleast in LOTRO the detail on the armor looks amazing and is much higher res than both EQ2 and WoW.. as much as i like EQ2's graphics the world seems to go together like a fragmented puzzle

Dull combat? Sorry but LOTRO combat is the same as any other MMO just not as flashy with all the smoke and mirrors.. bad sound? Seriously? I'm not even going to argue that but my EAX says otherwise.. you might need a new hearing aid

Aggro isn't consistent? I don't think you know how aggro works then(in lotro taunts are only temporary) because raiding at endgame where aggro control is VERY important there is nothing inconsistant about it

I also wish the game was amazing and the best MMO on the market.. I think they only could've done that if they had classes and races on both sides of the war.. but who knows they have plenty of time to flesh out their game.. EQ2 took a while itself

The bottom line for me is that the meat of LOTRO is not for hardcore players (end game is of course) there are SO many players that play at their own pace and have fun with their friends in the process.. not people who count the quests they need for their next level.. its a much more casual atmosphere.. you and I would call that bland but the game isn't for me...yet
