Help a exp gamer find a good mmo

syompesyompe Member Posts: 5

Hello,  Im currently looking for a new mmo  to play, some of the following games I have played are..

SWG..about 2 years until the game fell apart, was the 2nd jedi on my server.

Everquest 1...Loved the game but I couldnt play it any longer since Im big on modern graphics.

Linage l and ll dont know why i stopped playing these, the leveling was a bit tedious but I dont mind that.

World of Warcraft.. played since release and quit about 3 weeks ago... Couldnt handle the game, it was a superior game at first but I had a lvl 70 of every class and my main character was capped in pvp and raiding gear...and the crafting system in my opion really blew..and so did the rock paper scissor  pvp system. Another problem was the lack of diversity among characters and  solo content, though I was a hardcore player raiding was difficult for me since my time zone is very far east in North America.

Those are the games I have played heavily but I have played many others aswell.

As far as it comes in a new game Im interested im looking for something with the following.

Nice Graphics I love a game with modern graphics what can I say.

Diversity among Characters Not a fan of a game where all the players at cap level are wearing the same damn gear.

PvP A good pvp system where time invested in game = greater then class you play, and is actually fun to take part in.

Community A live and friendly community is very important, a mmo isnt a mmo with out this, not much more to say here.

Crafting System A great crafting system and a diverse one is vital for me in a mmo, i love crafting systems =, i specially liked the crafting in the early days of SWG more so then the pityful one in WOW.

Gameplay Id like a game where theres much to do after capping max level or getting all the gear you or when you need a break from grinding/ leveling.

Single Player Content A game where you arnt forced to group to play. I dont just mean to get cap level but also to get gear and make what ever the games currency is. I never enjoyed where I was forced to raid to get the better gear in wow.. sure it doesnt have to be the best gear, but it should be gear that is obtainable playing solo or with 1 or 2 people that isnt to far off what raiders use.

Thats what Im currently looking for in a game, hopfully theres a mmo out there I havnt noticed that someone could direct me to.

Thx for your time.

if you were experienced you wouldn't need help finding a game.

I dont see how experience in games have to do with selecting a game, my problem was I have played all the games I consider fit to play, I was hoping something may have slipped my radar....and please dont post useless comments like that here..especially if you aren't  an experience gamer who will never meet half the game milestones I have.

Well no offence but guess his life is long better than yours since all you did was post a useless asnwer and even waited here to reply again to his second message?did you say anything usefull to the thread? no, have you got anything better to do in your life than wasting time doing useless posts? yes...

About ''a decent mmo'' with all you requested...that s mostly a dream, you will have to wait for next gen MMOs but even if right now it is not even comparable to final product(chinese updated version) you could try Perfect World, not a bad game to try out

    Guild Wars

Well this might be a surprise to recommend here as it doesn't fit your description at first glance. ( i guess you know it , but have wrote it off long time ago, now look at it again ! )

The graphics are nice! Can you belive a online game with no montly fees to be that beatyfull?

some diversity in custumation, actual alot more than you would think!

PvP is actual really advanced , but relly require a guild to get fully into! The fact that you ingame always can observe the best guilds games are a big +. But the jumb between causal play and elite , might be the biggest there is in any MMO, and its skill based. But you can jump direct into max lvl PvP the first hour you play , by making a PvP toon , and jump into action, then you just have to learn! If healing is a thing you like to do , the random arenas is a very good ( rough) place to practice!

Crafting is a joke in Guild wars. In a game where every one can get good endgame gear so easy , don't expect to much here! But it does give some thing to do , to get that fancy look!

Community is cool ! with 3+ millions sold games its also still an active one. Find an active guild though, and enjoy the alliance ingame chat!

PvE Gameplay is different because its a story line , and what you do beside follow it, is to capture skills to your toon. Max lvl is gained too fast (20-40 hours), and after that its exploration and PvP, and capping skills. but since you can cap all classes skills , we are talking about potential getting 2000+ skills in the game! But you also get access to the same skills by playing PvP. So soner or later you'll get the ones you want. And the puzzle, setting up the right 8 skills you are allowed to bring into the next encounter is what you need to enjoy to like this game. The features to load and save you setups and equipment are some of the best made in history in any game!

Single Player content ! The best , while you don't solo , and are forced to group , you can do every thing with a group of henchmens (or heroes )when you singleplay , and that works very well. With 3 stand alone chapters and 1 expansion , there is plenty of gameplay, and you can do it all alone or with friends! The AI of henchmens are actual pretty good , though it require some learning to avoid suicede with them! And the monster AI is challenging as well , especial try hard mode! when done with normal!

Problems , its not a real MMO , as everything is instances. so you might not feel the big immersion trill. And you have to accept that the crafting are not what you hope for at all!

Advantage , no montly fee make it's a great inbetween MMO, one that you can leave , and come back to , without regrets! And you don't have to invest alot of time in it to get to the endgame! You can solo as you want, and its some of the best made pvp there is in the form of GvG!

recomandation ! The original for the storyline and atmsfære , factions for access to some ekstra pvp, nightfall for heroes and grind! Eye of the north if you get hooked later! Try it out

You might like EVE.  It certainly meets all of your criteria, but it isn't an MMO that everyone will enjoy.  Guildwars might be another option, if you're more after a traditional MMO and willing to compromise on some of your points.  Then there's always Warhammer, but EA took over that project (yuck) and it isn't out for a while.  Do give EVE's trial a try first, and read up about the game on their forums.

You might want to try EQ2 or Vanguard.

Although through my trip of searching for a new MMOG, in which my criteria is similar to yours, I actually found PlanetSide to come out on top.. It feels like it has Crafting, yet it really doesn't..

Try DAoC's free trial. I don't know how I missed this one in the past.....(prolly personal issue) but I played the rest ..like you, and all are great games but I just got bored with everything.

My wife and I downloaded the free trial to Dark Age of Camelot, and although it does not boast the gorgeous graphics as per EQ2 or WoW, it's graphic is nice, I would give it  B-

I was absoultley stunned by the helpfull community. We rolled on a Classic server and there is people everywhere.

From what the guys n' gals ingame tell me the pvp is awsome. Even people who play other games tell me the best pvp is in DAoC

I did the GM grind in WoW with my rogue so I know a little about pvp.

If you decide to do the trial PM me here and we will hook up ingame. I quicky got invited to very helpfull guild that can tell you about the game (If you have not played it before)
