They have only jsut started to develope, it seems there even unsure whats its going to be, past the fact they wont it to be more 'MMO like'. As far as i know, they haven't set a date for either beta or release
I remember reading something about the Public Beta coming soon. I think it was on IGN or something. Supposedly you can play as a Char. I think that'll be pretty cool. It'll introduce all new armors, weapons, skills, quests, etc. I think they're trying to make it more like a WoW w/o being WoW. While WoW is a great game it gets boring pretty quickly. I hope they keep the same Guild Wars style, but a little more freedom like WoW has.
Jeff Dunham: So you're Muslim? Achmed the Dead Terrorist: I don't think so. Jeff Dunham: You don't think you're Muslim? Achmed the Dead Terrorist: No. Jeff Dunham: Why not? Achmed the Dead Terrorist: Look at my ass. It says: "Made in China".
Well lets see a maginzie i cant remeber did a thing it either last fall or last summer. Here is what NCsoft said about it.

Gaile Gray (the Guild Wars community manager) said that the beta will arrive in the second half of 2008. A new website will be opened next year that will contain alot more information regarding the game, including trailers, in-game videos, screenshots and the like. As a result we can expect more information to reach us shortly, but as far as we know it will include:
* A persistent world
* No monthly fee
* PvP in The Mists (think Fissure of Woe etc.)
* A number of races to choose from (so far Charr, Norn, Sylvari, Human and Asura have been confirmed)
* Updated graphics
* A Z-axis, allowing for characters to jump, climb trees etc.
* Semi-destructible environments (meteor showers will make craters, stray ranger arrows will cause damage to trees if it were to hit one etc.)
* There will be no more professions than there currently are. They are deciding on whether to keep the current professions, merge some or create new ones
* There will be no level limit/a high level cap, however the increased level cap will only be for "show"
* Crafting professions may or may not be included
* Zone-wide missions will be available, such as repairing bridges destroyed by roaming dragons etc. These will encourage players to work together

Probably PC Gamer. They ran an article on Guild Wars 2 over the summer. Yeah no more fully instanced world for Guild Wars (thank god) , persistent world with instanced areas just like WOW,AOC and several other mmo games except Guild Wars 2 will have no monthly fee. Only question I have is will people be still willing to pay companies such as Blizzard, SOE, Mythic, Funcom a monthly fee when they can get the same or even better mmo experience with no monthly fee from Guild Wars 2 ? Quite interesting.

Instead of the monthly fee they are making mini-expansions that you can buy, like a extra area etc. I think it will cost the same if you want to buy all the expansions, maybe it even costs more.
I do not like that high level cap/no lvl cap. If you are lvl 120 and you lvl up to lvl 121 you don't have the feeling if you have a max lvl of 40 and you get from 20 to 21. No lvl cap is a bad system. I see people already farming area's for exp to get a uber high level. The casual players won't stand a chance against them.

As I said earlier, the levels won't count after a certain level. For example:
Once you reach level 20, when you level up you gain no extra health/energy/attributes anymore. The extra levels are just there for cosmetic reasons and to reward veterans for spending time on their character. A level 100 character will have no advantage over a level 20 character.
We of course do not know at which level levels will stop counting for anything useful, but they have said that this is what is going to happen.

Yeah I agree about the level cap situation. Currently nothing is written in stone but they will have a sidekick system like COH/COV where you can raise a players level so people can play together if one is higher than the other. A NCSoft published game always caters to casual players. They surely won't be left out.

Release date is to be announced, Public Beta testing will begin in 2008 according to pc gamer.
Yeah, seems to be quite a while before GW2 will be hitting shelfs.
I'm sure once Beta starts to get even close everyone will be drooling at the mouth, well at least some of us.
