Do not buy this game in its current state. Wait about 2-3 months. Let them fix the following problems THEN it will be one of the greatest mmorpgs EVER!!
DO NOT BUY TABULA RASA UNTIL THEY FIX THE FOLLOWING
1) So many of the quests are still broken. Half the time you have to petition a GM to complete the quest for you. This is extremely annoying. Its like this all the way to level 50.
2) Healing/Repair is currently bugged in the game. You heal/repair for very very low damage and it is a confirmed bug by the company yet they do nothing about it.
3) The classes are so imbalanced and broken it is unbelievable. There is a skill called traitor which makes a character not be able to attack for 15 seconds lol. Basically an IWIN button.
4) If you are really into the PVE scene this game has no content at level 50.
5) Half the time if you want to access your footlocker to get/retrieve items you have to back off and open it up again & again until it works.
6) I'm really upset at Bug #2 (up above)
7) The crafting system is basically the worst I've ever seen in any mmorpg. You can't even make items from scratch. Items drop with certain stats on them. You can increase them with recipes and if your lucky enough to get an item with the right combo of stats you could add an extra modification if you want. The problem is there is no flexibility. You can't have armor your way. You have very little control with crafting in the game.

Fixing that and we have the greatest MMORPG ever? GREATEST?
1) Half of the missions are not broken. Maybe like 2% and they generally fix broken missions pretty quickly but it is an annoyance.
2) I have no problem healing/repairing.
3) Ugh....... the whole "balanced classes" argument. See other posts on this site.
4) This game is 2 months old.
5) True - known bug.
6) ...
7) I wouldn't say it's the worst but it does have a lot of room to improve.
These are just my experiences from someone that is having fun in the game.
While I agree that there needs to be some more work done to the game, I don't think it is as drastic as you make it out to be.......case in points...
1. Lots of broken missions, but each patch fixes more and more of these (though intercept and exterminate is still annoying =P)
2. Not sure how bugged this is.....I have a 31 exo and a 45 Engineer and can usually repair in 1 to 2 shots, with tools 3 that is. And as for healing, well, don't do much healing since once my armor is gone, couple hits and Im down, but even then when I use heal it works just fine.
3. The classes are far from imbalanced, I have 1 of each and they all do great. Yeah, spies to a ton of dmg, but once you get in the 40s that pretty much balances out. Medics/Demos/Grenadiers.......solo and group just fine with them all. I'm actually surprised at how balanced they are, was half expecting grenadiers and spies to just own all, till I played my engineer =P. The "Traitor" ability, yeah it needs work, but look at what they have already done for Medics/Biotechs and soon to be Engineers.....they replaced or redid the ability to make it more worthwile and usefull.
4. Yeah....you are absolutely right on this one....very little end game content....but they are adding new maps for higher end content with patch 1.4, and adding PAUs, Hybrids, Command Opportunities and Flashpoints in early 08, most likely with Operation 1.
5. Annoying, but not exactly game breaking. You know it will be fixed soon enough.
6. Still not sure what exactly the problem is, have seen no issues with it (up above)
7. Again, you are right about this....crafting was obviously an after thought, that being said, they are aware of it and have already said there are major changes coming to the crafting system (mainly to make it more appealing to players at all lvls, rather then waiting till 50 and cloning a crafter)
The game has issues, no MMO dosn't upon release, they are aware and are working on them, but the game is not bad in it's current state. 2-3 months from now, I think when those issues are fixed that you have such a problem with, the game will be even better (not the greatest MMO though =P).....but to those who are looking at the game now.....get it....try it out, it's alot of fun, and different then the usual MMO (at least in atmosphere).
This is a REALLY good kick ass game.. THERE is no other game that is better... At least it seems so from the videos.. I personally wouldn't know because they have THE worst servers that I have ever seen. I've played free games with better servers. You can't log on, and when, on the off chance you do get on, it takes SO friggin long to authenticate and get yer toon.. and I'm talking like 10 mins...
I would suggest that if you like the idea of this game wait 6 months or a year until they dump some money into passable Servers and crew.. as for the other listed problems? wouldn't know I was online with my toon for all of 3 mins (actually I think is was less). After trying repeatedly to reconnect (for 4 hours) i think I'll go play WoW instead..
As I said this seems REALLY cool from the videos, but if they want to play in the big boys mmorpg realm they need to get better Servers behind them.
I'm really glad I didnt buy this game and took the trial instead!! sorry to all that bought it!
Besides seeing a person tell others not to buy a game is just something i will NEVER EVER understand other then some people must be incredible new to this genre to asume they can warn others from buying or playing a game
Well I play from Australia - never have a problem connecting to a server. Maybe you just have a crap connection.
Or maybe you tried connecting when the servers were down for maintenance.
To the OP - your points are all legit, but I think overall you're giving these problems way too much weight for a brand new MMOG. Even WOW had broken quests, rather pointless crafting, unbalanced classes, and other minor annoyances at launch. I picked up TR shortly after giving up on Hellgate London - which I felt really had a rough launch and show stopping bugs. The difference felt like day and night.
My point - yes some of these things are annoying. But overall I personally feel TR is pretty polished.
PS - It's way too early to call severe class imbalance. One class may have the "I Win" button at launch, only until somebody else discovers the perfect counter.

Too late, I got the game but for $9 though, but I haven't even been able to log into the game yet since the patches are appearing corrupt and I've been looking high and low for answers with very little to lead on, I'm about to give up. Odd that I had no problems getting the game setup and running in beta testing.
This is turning out to be one of THE buggiest launch of any game, even moreso than SWG.
EDIT- got it running finally, I upgraded to .NET framework 3.5 from 3.0 and the plaync download seemed to work after.
1. op, your to late with your post, its been said.
2. op, its been said, your too late with your post.

(did i really take the time to type all that?!)
anyway op, we get your point and some of the exaggerations, move along please.
customer service still sucks......imagine that. level 35!!!
can you smell that?!!...............there is nothing quite like it.....................the smell of troll in the morning............i love that smell.
I completely agree with the original poster!! NC has been like this in all of their games, and it can/will take over a year before they actually BEGIN to fix these things, because people are willing to accept a poorly made game, just so long as it is new.
Granted this game HAS made some key moves since beta, but I don't feel as though this game is good enough to please the new gaming community to the extent of being considered a successful mmo.

You are right...the NEW GAMING COMMUNITY will most likely not like TR as what i've seen from the NEW GAMING COMMUNITY is that they need their handhold in these games, they don't want to explore, they want to get into the game and be UBER, no thought, just sheeple following the herd, no imagination, no they seem to want jobs out of these games, sure there are some NEW GAMERS that will get it how to play these games, but just look at most post that speak negative about TR, almost every one of them shows they either new to this genre or simply are not willinmg to addept to a game but somehow they feel a game needs to addept to the community, it's like those people who will say DEVS don't listen to the community, afcourse when someone very new to games they might imagine that DEVS don't listen, but those of us gaming VETS sure know devs do listen but a large part of the community does not READ or understand.
What made me stopping my subscription was:
At level 30; New map; did 5 quests, those were all bugged and had to drop them and get them again. Then 3 of them bugged. I then had not enough quests to level without yet another grind.
At level 30 I had grown addicted to the map icons showing where the quest were. These were not implemented for that map.
RGTR is a great game for its style. I will give it another try. Just waiting for the fixes, Saw last update that they had fixed a lot of quest loot. That is great. Hopefully they will get to higher level content soon.
Ok I didnt read every post in this thread but I have something about balancing classes. IMHO balancing classes is a bad idea. Classes need to differ and in that difference some will not be as tough as say a tank or DD class which is what its all about. There is no point to having everyone the same. SWG balanced there classes and it really put the game into a tail spin. If you want to solo everything then go soldier class and down into commando but if you want to be a supporting class then do so but if you go supporting don't expect to completely own everything solo.
As for the bugs, yeah there are some that stopped me from completing a few missions which I was looking forward to for the principle alone. After several bug reports and petitions there still not fixed. Oh well if thats the least of my worries then fine. I'm still having a blast just enjoying the missions and game play. I am taking my time leveling up so by the time I hit max level there should be end game stuff to do. If not there are plenty of other games coming out that I can switch to. Doesnt hurt me any If I leave rasa for another game.
Personally I think the games alot of fun, but thats just me.
Um, what? It takes me two seconds to log in, and always has.
