My standard question when a new game is about to launch will there be player housing? I love to have a house to come back to after doing some long and hard questing all day long. And a place to put your favorite findings for you to brag about.
The one thing swg still holds No1 is their housing, its almost pefect and i must say I havn't played any other game with such interior freedom. Hope to see it in another game as well.

Haven't heard anything about player housing so far from what i can recall, and yea that i must still hand it to SOE , the housing in SWG is what it makes for someone to still play the game that they can deco and do whatever they want with their house.
List of SOE lies
... have u read much about the game lol?
its got player citys ...
wich almost has to mean u can have a house in the city also not sure about having a house in pvp citys but u can have a pve city also so u can probly have a house there,,,
And I dont think they can have player housing at the time of launch... I believe they said it might be looked into in a future expansion/update. I am not too sure, but that is what i remember reading.
And along with the guild cities, there are also Battle Keeps in the Border Kingdom, which is the main PvP zone. The battle keeps, i really dout having player housing in, becuase ownership of the keeps with probably have a good chance of being attacked by rival guilds, and changing ownership.

I heard there would be housisng in AoC but not really sure, and no idea about the system.
It's not gonna be there at launch anyhow.

Guild cities can be read up on here. Individual player buildings won't make launch last I heard.

PvP battle keeps etc. can be read here.
I'm hopeing individual player buildings makes it in.
Oy, thanx for the info on this one guys
Yea, although its surprising to me, but payer housing is a very sought after aspect in many MMORPGs.
DAOC had a good one too
Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
12.2 Will there be any items or equipment not related to combat?
Yes, of course. Furniture for instance – these are items that can be placed in the houses you build in your player city – and you will also be able to buy different of clothing, jewelry and so on. We know how important the social aspects of a MMO is, and try our best to cater for this in the game.
I found this in the FAQ section of equimpment. It seams if player housing doesnt make it in at launch then it is slated to be in-game.
It won't be there at launch and therefore I do not see player housing as being a key aspect of AoC. Not to say that it may not be implimented later on, but it won't be to the same effect as SWG. If it does happen later on I would suspect that it would be instanced.
Well don't forget SWG didn't have player cities until months after launch. Things can be easilly implimented as long as the core foundation of the game is there.
Houses, wtf?
I wan't to run my own Casino for real cash.
Make my dreams true, Funcom, or I won't buy this game. lol
Be serious guys. Do you really need houses? For me is good Inn with full of bitches, waiting, to relax me after barbaric fights.
Is this me, or ............
Who needs a pointless house in some god-forsaken corner of the world. It promoted in game relationships whether good or bad between neighbors. It added many whole new elements to the game such as bad neighborhoods. Then I really hope I can burn his/her virtual pig farm, farm shelter down. But back to topic. Player housning is mainly used a advantage Money and Time sinker in mmorpg as they will require tons of resourse and money, almost like a second job. In the end its only for show mostly, like players can enlarge there epeen with "my house" is bigger then yours.
I like the Lotro neighborhoods, but the housing itself is a bit dull. Nothing you want to put effort in.
The vanguard neighborhoods and houses are better. But there arent many trophys to collect (i admit i like that) and many of them are in a remote area without any social interaction in them. Ghost towns like those in Lotro.
SWG must have been great (i played something else back then) with displayable armors and and freedom of place.
I do like housing if it has a purpose. Without purpose its epeening indeed.
I don't know about epeening but when I played SWG I remember housing & player cities being something that brought the community together. It was a positive thing.
if anyone had play ff11 i hope that coa's player housing when it comes in its like final fantasys. just not as expesive but the detail and being able to place anything how you wanted and have tons of stuff in your house was awsome.

Okie, What do want to spent most time on:
A) You own real house
You virtuel mmorpg house
Really?.
Player Cities are overrated. Having played SWG in its prime and seeing the hundered of abandoned Player Cities that were just large storage areas.
The player cities will be instanced for obvious reasons. They will be large, and there will be NPC controlled enemy settlements that will develop over time and eventually lay siege to your city. All of this information is available on the website.
The problem with SWG's system was that the game failed. If the game had WoW's population, it would be a model for all future MMOs. I remember in its prime, player cities were fun, though they could have been better.
AoC will avoid the ghost town feeling altogether with players needing to access an instance to go to a specific city.
I'm fairly certain however, that non-guilded players will not have the option of building their own cities or owning their own homes. This might change with time, but so far I think that's the implication based on currently available information.
