    1. I didnt play the class or race either but it does include the labyrinth which can be somewhat entertaining.

3.Can't recommend a server mine was filled with buff-bots + tons of self-concerned people who want nothing to do with you.

4.Sorry can't help again I never came across any groups/guilds that were into old school pve was mainly just lvl as fast as possible then rvr.

Well now that I look at it I guess I wasn't much help at all lol sorry and good luck I'm sure someone else will come along with actually helpful info.

    1.  The main reason to get the expansion is the RvR dungeon.  Lots of good action there.  New items are decent.  If you play on the Classic servers they are probably more important to have because of fewer bonuses available.

    2.  The Mauler might work for you.  Valewalker, Warden, Vamp,

    3.  Buff but is not the issue on the servers - espically the regular servers.  Here are the facts.  The amount of XP you can get is caped per level.  Given the huge XP bonuses and less XP per level, leveling is very fast.  Solo you can get near or at the cap.  Duo you can pretty much always get the cap.  The more people in the group, the more XP is divided and the less likely you are to hit that cap.  This means a group either needs to be able to kill higher level mobs to make up for it, or kill quicker.  Ideally it is both.  In DAOC it used to be that way, now it is not the case.  For levels 1-30 solo/duo is the best means to XP.  30+ groups start to be better.  Prior to that level, you cannot kill mobs fast enough or higher level enough to make up for the XP loss of adding more people to the group.  There is only ONE way to actually get better XP, than 1-3 people.  That is to have 8 people can grind Task Dungeons.  The XP bonus for 8 people plus the XP reward gives you slightly more XP.

So my point is this, no matter what server you play on, and whether or not there is a buff bot, the low level game is so solo friendly it actually hurts you to group.

With that said, you still can get groups on all of the servers even at low levels.  It is much easier at low levels to do it on classic.  On the ToA servers, things have gotten better because there are now global chat channels.  There is also some newish content to do 40+ and those require groups.  ToA is now all group based so people need to group for that now.  People run ToA all the time given it is a lot easier.  I am sure there are still bots, but if people aren't grouping it has less to do with them using a bot and more that the realize adding more people actually slows them down.  Things start to pick up on the ToA servers around level 30 and groups are easier to come by - even with the buff bots.

    4.  I am sure there are some.  Not sure you will find them.  But I will suggest this:

Play on the largest ToA cluster.  It has a good population now.  Also, it has the former RP server merged with it.  Given that people there RP (or did) they are more likely to engage in the PvE old world content that those focused only on RvR (more of the Classic player mindset).  I can't guarantee you will get the playing experience you want on this cluster, but I suggest you try it.  Play Hib, they tend to have a tighter community than Alb.  See if you like it.  Once you get into your 30's if you do not like it, then switch to Classic.

Solo is defintly easier, but grouping is a lot more fun (more people = more fun). I think you may likeclassic servers if you are worried about contineued BOT issues. Also, do not wait until lev 50 before you enter the fray. The battlegrounds has some excellent PvP and you get a LOT of XP. MOst players wait until lev 15 before they enter the BGs, but you can enter them earier.

I wager friar or warden is a good soloing class with thier ability to heal.

    Good Luck

I've considered firing up DAOC to get a feel for what WAR might be like.

From what ya'll know about WAR would you say DAOC is pretty similar?

Pretty much every class can solo now with little to no downtime.  There are only a few that are killing machines.  This would be the Vamp for example.  But I mean even druids or bards can sit back and do chain pulls and get great XP.

Grouping is funner, but the issue you will find, even on the classic servers, is that groups attempt to maximize their XP.  This often means not going any of the cool stuff, but grinding TD.

One more thing, the issue with Buff Bots is primarily RvR.  On the classic server you will find people in tow with their buff bots.  If people want to do it, they will do it on any server.

One way to think of it is this.  People who use buff bots, in PvE, do so to speed up their leveling.  Given that grouping slows you down at the low levels, then these people regardless of if they use buff bots or not, will not group.  Therefore, buff bots are not the issue.

Given that Buff bots are not the issue, then it makes more sense to play on the regular servers.  The only reason I can think of for anyone to play Classic is if they want/need to group at very low levels.  More new players start there because they see the highest numbers and everyone on boards tells people Classic is the way to go.  In terms of content and higher level playing experience, go to the regular servers.

FYI: not that I do not want people to play DAOC, but it and WAR are not very much alike contra to what people may want to believe.  Although I do recomend trying to game so that you have something to compare WAR to when it comes out.

Honestly, I believe DAOC and WAR will be very different games. However, I believe that WAR and DAOC have the same spirit. The same fundamental core of RvR. After that, I wager the gameplay, the look, the mythos, the interface, etc will be different

To answer your question on Solo play, I would suggest a Albion Heretic specced heavy in Rej/Enhance for leveling purposes.

I went from 1-24 in 4 hours. So its definitly a fast class to level.
