Elimiated SOE from diet, suggestions for new game?

title says it all.  I finally canceled my SOE account and I am now SOE free.  In reality my life has become very busy and I no longer have the long hours to put into any of the SOE mmo's.  If you don't have hours to play nothign really happens and things get very boring very fast.  SWG lasted me through college and part of law school, eq2 filled in the gaps, and gave Vanguard another chance but its still broke (necro class broke and I love pets so won't play anything else) So SOE can offer me no game worth playing.

Can anyone suggest a good game that doesn't require you put in hours of play time in chunks in order to accomplish anything.  I tested out Pirates of the burning sea and while its very novel I'm not sure its the game for me.  Well there is always simcity....

LOTRO is a pretty mellow game, try that out

Try CoH/CoV, they are about the most casual friendly games out there and if you like pet classes then CoV and the mastermind.

Eq2 nevro or conjuror can solo all the way to 80 easily. I play it casually and still find it better then everything else currently out YMMV only thing easier might be WoW (though WoW'a endgame in my expereinec was fairly time consuming raiding)

Well since you are time sensitive take a look at WoW, Guild Wars, LotR's or maybe Tabula Rasa (although I'm not to sure how this one gets at higher levels) All of those games have decent pet systems, although LotRs is pretty dry but that is the case across the board for that one. Don't know how TR's pets go.

Other then that, it's been an excellent year outside of MMO's, take a look at just about anything made for PC this year. Even the really bad PC games released were better then their MMO counterparts.

I would suggest WoW, but the end-game has been a total disaster.

LotR is probably going to be too limited for you, I suspect.

I am enjoying FPShooter right now:  Call of Duty 4.  You might consider picking-up a copy.  I am new to the game, but you can like customize a class and obtain different abilities and things as you level-up (i.e., go from Sergeant to Lieutenant, etc.).  It is a really fun game, and it will keep you busy until Elder Scrolls is released or AoC, etc.

I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.

I would suggest EVE Online for a good main staple.  It's a time based skill training system that doesn't require hours of grinding.  If you're clever and savvy enough, you can make boatloads of isk (interstellar kredits) through many different means, even scamming in contracts.  For some decent fantasy based gameplay I'd suggest Guild Wars.  It has no subscription fee and has a fairly strong pvp system as well as some decent pve content. Very group oriented but there's plenty that can be soloed as well.

I'd advise staying clear of EVE actually.  It replaces the time grind with the cash grinding, as well as having corrupt devs who have been caught more than once cheating their players and playing favorites.

WoW and Guild Wars are games that are not that 'intense', and cater to casuals too.

Thank you all for the replies and great suggestions.  I'll have to sit down after xmas and look at some of these other games.  Out of these games which would have a more mature audience, I've heard that WOW is full of kids and that watching the global chat scroll by is akin to watching children taunt eachother on a playground and ever able to shut it off.

    Wow or Lotro.

I'd have to agree with WoW or LOTRO as well.  WoW might have alot of kids, but it has alot of adults too.  You shouldn't have trouble meeting likeminded individuals to play with.  I never had a problem atleast.  I'm 26 and most of the members of the guilds I were in were 20+.  CoH/CoV I liked as well at first because you could find groups really fast in that game, but I just felt the missions became very repetitive after about a week of playing.  Guild Wars might be something to check out as well.  I played that mainly for PvP, but the PvE was fun for awhile too.

Adults that act like kids. Been there done that, the maturity level drops to an all time low in WoW (CS 1.6 low). If they are not "crying" about gear they didn't get, they're complaining about something else, i've been in guilds that claim to be all adults, or +18 only (I am Seventeen), and childishness is abundant all around, my advice (If you do decide to roll WoW), stay away from Ventrilo or Teamspeak so you don't have to listen to the endless arguing. Now I cannot speak for all realms and people, but that is just my experience on Rexxar (PvE) and The Forgotten Coast (PvP), both USA servers. I however have been WoW-Free for the past seven months, waiting for something better to come out (hopefully).

If you've been consuming a lot of SOE products, I would suggest a series of enemas.

Guild Wars is good, and its free, they charge for expansions and optional unlocks for pvp and skills, i would suggest a least playing the trial. However it is not an MMO if thats what your looking for. Also Guild wars 2 is supposed to be a free mmo, and putting in the time with guild wars can give benefits to your characters in guild wars 2 when it is released (so ive heard not 100% on that one. Again, give it a try

CoH / CoV are quite fun, kept me entertained for a long time until I couldn't spend any time on it (playing max. 5 hours a month, not worth $15 subscription at that rate).
