in Final Fantasy XI

A friend of mine plays FFXI. I was wondering if for some reason he's likely to get a ban for running it while playing.

I used play a few years ago and I remember them being very strict on 3rd party software.

Does anyone here use it or is it a bad idea to run while playing?

    I use Xfire and ran it back when I played and nothing ever happened to me or my account. I don't see why it would be a problem since all it does is record your game time and let you talk to friends while you're playing.  If Square has become so nazi that they are banning people for running something in the background that is so standard for PC gaming then I'd say forget them, because their game isn't worth playing if that's how they are gonna be.

    I don't see a problem with it, its like you are running bitorrent behind playing FFXI. I personnally use windower (because SE 's window mode is crap and i can use japanese)

    I am still running around perfectly fine, as long it does not increase or do anything to your character.
