The World to End in 2012 ???

Has anyone seen any of the online websites or videos about the world ending in 2012?    Sounds like some interesting information, but some of it can be just plain supposition and conjecture. I have a co-worker who is talking about this all the time and want to know what all of your comments are.

Some of it?  More like all of it.

From what I have heard the Mayan callender simply ends in 2012, it doesn't say anything about the end of the world.

It's a whole lot of hot air if you ask me. There have been so many predictions of the end of the world, predicting another one in 2012 lacks credibility somewhat.

I personally don't think it will happen. If it does happen there is obviously nothing you can do about it.

    So why worry about it?

People have always been saying the end of the world is coming. I will take my chances.

It doesn't even seem like this date has any evidence pointing to it whatsoever, other than the Mayan calendar happening to end on it. Most end-of-the-world scares you see at least try to tie things together, this just seems like one little detail is getting people worked up.

A lot of it is conjecture and supposition. But I think that the evidence that always strikes me as "interesting" is the mayan calendar. These guys were supposed to be considered geniuses when it came down to astrology and astronomy. Their calendar ends at 2012, but for all we know, it could be that it's not really meant to end at 2012, maybe they ran out of time and couldn't complete it. Who knows. Research the "Crystal Skulls" as well. There's supposed to be another connection between the crystal skulls and the mayan calendar/end of the world. (No, the crystal skulls are not an invention for spielberg's new indy movie, they DO in fact exist. I've seen them on Discovery channel)

Not to be nosy, but since I always keep hearing similar comments. What's the connection supposed to be between Ron Paul and the end of the world???

  • ZikielZikiel Member Posts: 1,138

There isn't one, just that some of the posters here find a way to involve Ron Paul in things that have absolutely nothing to do with him.

"Oh, it's your birthday? Vote for Ron Paul and you can have another one every year!"

Anyway.. this end of the world thing, it's from the Mayans, you know, those people who predicted the apocalypse so often they could have written a goofy UDF magazine rack tabloid mag. The same people who believed that the end would come in the form of skeleton spiders from space. Seriously.

Not just the mayans have predicted 2012. Nostradamus(sp?) made a prediction that some type of apocalypse will occur on 2012. Also another notable "physic" was an American dude in the early 1900's I can't remember his name but he has been noted alot. He predicted ww2, ww1, Vietnam war, stock crash. most amazingly he cured many people's illness's who doctors at the time said were "incurable". He also said the apocalypse will begin in 2012. Strangely though Nostradamus also said the earth will end in 3023(not sure on the exact date)...

I don't believe half of the croc. But I did do some research on the whole 2012 scandal.

    Edgar Cayce is the American.

Nostradamus has been discredited enough, I feel, so I'll leave that horse alone.

However, I am quite ready to welcome our new Space Spider Overlords in 2012. Sadly, they will be defeated by a group of grown up Goonie knock offs being led around by an ancient Space Turtle.

Edgar Cayce is the one you're talking about. My folks have a book on his life as well as all his predictions. It's interesting because (supposedly) he does believe the earth, while it might be "dead" by 2012, he does believe we will go on after these events because he (predicted) his own re-incarnation. Again, as to how much of it is true can only be conjecture and supposition. That being said though, due to his statements on the past (ww1, ww2 etc.) I believe his predictions definetely need to be studied further.

Whatever the Mayans meant by the ending date of their calender, people have been predicting the end of the world since we were capable of imagining such an end. One way or another, it keeps not ending. What makes you think the Mayans had any more legitimacy in this matter than millions of nutjobs throughout history?

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Studies suggest that they were incredibly good at predicting a number of natural as well as astrological events (I can't remember if they were good at predicting historical events as well, I'd have to go back and search) This particular calendar supposedly (I say supposedly because, While I have seen pictures of it, I don't read mayan so I don't know if what is being said is true) tells a lot of predictions that have come to pass. So when the calendar all of a sudden came to a halt at the year 2012 the scientists studying it all of a sudden became intrigued. It opened up the door to speculation.

I'm not sure whether humanity will end at 2012 or not. I know there's a lot of speculation it will thanks to the "evidence" shown in the bible, nostradamus, edgar cayce, the mayan calendar etc. etc. etc. they all point out to "cataclysmic events" which people point out to. Whether its true, or over acting to a natural event is anyones guess. IF it's true, at least I can have some solace in Cayce's statement where he mentions that humanity does go on and that (again, supposedly) he ends up reincarnating.

I wouldnt put much stock in the mayans gettin the date right, they sacrificed their babies to demon gods, and the winner of their "basketball" game got his head chopped off as a prize.  I've been to Chitzenitza, they were demonic landscapers for sure.

Many cultures in the past made sacrifices in one way or another, whether it be human or animal and also believed in many other gods. What does that have to do with having knowledge of astrology/astronomy and being able to make natural as well as astronomycal predictions? shutting them out just because they were practitioners of a belief system we don't consider very civil, and completely ignoring what knowledge they have offered seems a little short sighted.

I don't necessarily think the world will end either. At least, not in the way some think it will. I do believe there will be a huge event that will make very drastic changes in our society (a sort of, purging if you will... from mother nature herself as she gets fed up with us.), and as a result, a lot of people will end up dieing. But I'm sure humanity will still survive. Also, I consider it hard for us to "die" per se, considering that our essence is nothing more than pure energy (or soul if you're a christian) and according to the law of thermo dynamics, energy can't be destroyed. Therefore, in terms of that topic, the only thing I have to say is... Reincarnation FTW! lol!

Every year has been the year the world is going to end. There is always a something that people twist to point to it. Also many times when things are predicted they are very vague and can point to a number of things.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

I think the end of the world will be caused by us... World War III, and as is looks right now, its not to far off from happening.

Lets hope im wrong and it doesn't happen at all.

Not in the case of Edgar Cayce, I read some of his stuff and he can be pretty darn accurate.
