Whats your opinion?

Hey guys, so i downloaded the game yesterday i was gutted when i saw the graphics to tell you the truth, I decided to give it a fair chance and imo its not that bad it was strangely addictive, they have done the ship combat fairly well but the land quests etc leave alot to be desired, I just wondered what other people think of the game?

I'm a little bias, this is the first MMO I can get my wife to play with me so...

I'm enjoying it. The graphix aren't anything to write home about your right. The sailing is great, I love the broadsides, i just wish there was a little more customization as far as the ships go.

The quests are so so... mostly repeatative, which I guess is the same with most mmo's .

Honestly for the price (10 bux a month) it beats a lot of 15 a month games out there. Or you could just play it for free and still have something to putz around with every now and then.

this game being nothing special is exactly whats wrong with it.  mediocre gameplay graphics, and in game ads.

stick with another free to play mmo, like tales of pirates. no ads great gameplay, centered around a fun atmosphere.

POTC failed miserably the moment that disney handed over creation and implementation of this IP to the same ones that did toontown.  while toontown is nice i dont want to play it with a POTC skin.

Hate to say it but between this, and pirates of the burning sea.. pirates of the burning sea is a much better game hands down.

    o.O WTF!?

  • ThaloreThalore Member UncommonPosts: 10

The free to play on PotCO is really just like a free trial play on other MMO's.  The ads are very annoying, but it's only 10bux a month which is 50% cheaper than almost every other MMO out there.

For me it's a great game cause I can play with my wife and my 2 son's.

I would rather fire up the old SNES and play New Horizons and beat that again then to load up this free trial.

  • RekamRekam Member UncommonPosts: 90

Well, as many mention graphics are just....yeah.  Other then that I felt this game needed alot of work.  Land combat is just simple, boring, and repetitive.  Cant say much more for sea combat, not to mention some major bugs that still need to be fixed that were not fixed during beta for reasons unknown.  I didnt have high expectations for this game in the first place and it still fell short of them.

    I give it a 4 out of 10.

I find it to be really good and it is fun too, lots you can do, i know graphics arnt top notch but thay seem like what wow uses anyway, but what it lacks in graphics sure makes up in gameplay as like alot of people say graphics isent everything as you dont want next gen graphics and poor gameplay. so i rate it 10 out of 10.

  • gemillergemiller Member UncommonPosts: 17

Caught me completely off guard, It's actually a good game! The gameplay is great, the weapons and skill system work top notch and the sailing system is absolteuly a blast. Although the mobs get a litlte touchy sometimes being everywhere and other times being no where its easy to live with because i just anchor up and go fight! The ability to switch servers at will is great, if your on a slow one just click and go to a busy one!

on a side note im doing a pirate rp guild if anyone is interested let me know.

If you paid any attention to the game at all you would have obviously noticed it wasn't in any way shape or form developed as a hardcore game. It was developed as a fun goof around game.  of course it wasn't developed to be hardcore grinding out and huge raids. It was developed as a game even a normal non gaming family could play alone or as a group. Don't rate a game based on what you want, rate it on it's own standards....

this game IS just a hardcore skill grind i completed the main quest in a week there is notthing else to do but grind bugged mob.completed the whole thing withh all my skill beside sailing and cannon under lv8 now the only thing to do is kill monsters.the pvp is useless you get no reward and last time i went i was lv18 they matched me up vs two lv3 players who did not pay for the full thing.right now i have the voodoo staff quest but the part im on is BUGGED so i cannot complet it.theres a cannon ammo that works only in PVP and vs sea monsters but guess what there is no sea monsters and pvp on ships.i must say its a very fun game for the time it lasted i been playin wow for a long time i have a t5 paladin and i stopped wow just to play this.the quest line is just too short  and repetitif at 95% of the blackpearl quest they where still asking for rock crab meat.

It's the coolest game ever!  You may disagree, but personally, hanging out in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean is fun.  I'm a level 26.  Best game ever -thumbsup-

I am having fun with this game. it is great to fire up for 45 minutes to an hour and play for a while.

I actually really like the skill system. It is streamlined and easy to follow.

of course, I would never make this my main MMO. I am playing EQ2 and VG right now for my major MMO games and POTC or DOMO for some casual stuff.

My view is the graphics are so-so, game play is light and fun, quests are OK, (same, same), running into the movie characters is enjoyable, etc. I believe it delivers on what it claims to be.

I like PotC and find Pirates of the Burning sea to be beautiful but tedious.  yawn.

I like PotC simply because i can get my friends, we can all jump on the same ship and be hunting and questing together in a matter of minutes, high or low level doens't matter.  give me playability over the pretty pretty avatars any day.

was fun for a few was gonna keep play but its barely worth 5 a month let alone the 10 a month i will wait for it to be totally free to play.they cant expect anyone to take this sereous with a 10 $ a month sub there just isnt any content to warrant such a thing.

  • blix2006blix2006 Member UncommonPosts: 445

after playing for a few more hours  another thing has come to my attention...free accounts dont get shit...yet we have the heaviest ad frenzy forced on us that i have ever seen in any mmo we cant lvl past a low lvl we cant get new ships hell we cant continue the story line very far.and no fullscreen????? since when is this a perk for anygame.bad bad bussiness if you ask me.

as soon as i started playing.. one thing popped in my head.. OMFG IT LOOKS JUST LIKE RUNESCAPE! and same game system too. runescape sucks, and so does this. i love the POC movies. but this game fails.

  • MegeraMegera Member UncommonPosts: 45

Still love it.  might not have the best graphics out there but it has beautiful, beautiful sunsets.  I wish i could take the skys from this game and replace every other one of my games skys with these ones.

Mmm so far I have liked it. My kids can play it with me which, for them, is a huge thing. They love playing with me and we go out on the ship together and they man the cannons while I just steer, they have a ball and it's in a relatively 'safe' environment. Which is nice. I don't have to worry about some 40 year old sleezeball trying to hit on my 12 year old daughter, etc.

The graphics aren't great, that's true, but quite honestly as long as graphics aren't so outdated that they break immersion (these aren't) I really don't care about graphics. Graphics can help a bad game be better or they can weaken a great game a little but on a 'decent' game you really only need 'decent' graphics for the game to remain 'decent'.

PotCO is not a great game nor is it an awesome game. But it is a 'decent' game and the pricepoint IS awesome.

The "FREE" game does appear to be more of a trial than a fully playable game but it is still fun and entertaining. My wife and I are discussing getting a full subscription for our daughter as she really seems to like the game. And, as has been mentioned before, the pricepoint of this game is half what most others are.

Overall? It's a fun little game that I can play with my kids. Can't say that for PotBS (which, imo, isn't even as fun) or EVE (which is my favorite MMORPG currently available to play) or any number of other MMO's. It's just 'grown up' enough that I can have fun with it and still 'young' enough that the kids can enjoy it too. Which is Disney's motto really "Fun for the whole family".

If I want an ADULT MMO? I play EVE. If the kids want to play a game with me? Then we launch this. And if my daughter wants to be a pirate lass? She plays this as well.

i find this to be one of the best pirate games online, its only problem was the lag when it was released but i think thats fixed now,a great aspect of the game is sailing with a crew, manning multiple cannons and instead of being just a 3rd person view of the ship, you also get a 3rd person view of your pirate on the ship which is a real step forward for pirate games, not to mention first-person cannon shooting.

You have two choices,Die quick or Live tortured...choose wisely...I'll make you regret either choice

    My opinion on the game:

Pirates is quite a fun game, strangely addictive though, (almost like RS when you first played it) but my opinion the game is quite simple.

One of the best parts of the game are the quests. Unfortunetly though, it's very limited. You can only go so far in the  main quest before you HAVE to become a member to continue on anymore. Also, besides the main quest, there aren't really anymore "fun" ones to do.

The weapons in the game are limited. 6 Weapons with a max level of 25 (7 if non-member) They need to add more levels and if at all possible, more weapons.

The other best part of the game is the ship battes. There is nothing like having a crew of people blow up some ships. Although limited to buying ships, you just have to find a member . :)

Overall: Great game, fun to play, especially since the movies were so great. Although the worst part is that the game is too much like a Single-Player type game, and not so much as a community thing.

wow, you make this game sound good. i havent tried it myself, never gave beta a chance. i might just get my little brother an account, he's 9. might make a good birthday present for him. if all goes well, i just might join him .

This is a pretty fun game...Ive been enjoying my self, and its a nice break from WoW. Granted the graphics arent the best, but really does that effect the gameplay? Not everyone has a "L33t" machine that you can turn the settings up to supernova and still be able to hold good FPS.

And as far as the "Grind"....combat is fast paced, and acually it doesnt take long to lvl,  the skill system reminds me of the good old days in SWG pre-NGE, and probably the best part....it doesnt take long to make ingame money so....no gold farmers spamming you every 5 seconds.

A few things that they do need to address tho....server lag and rubberbanding is pretty bad even on ideal or quiet servers. They should put in ship to ship PvP. The word censor in the chat code can be a pain in the rear....although I can live with this, because of all the young people playing the game.

All in all...I am having a great time with this game, but would also like to try out PotBS to see which Pirate earns the Jolly Roger
