Female Gamers?

Just discovered MMORPG.com!.....yeah sad isn't it. It looks like a great site, and I love the layout and content on the site

Anyway, I run a female gamers portal and am always interested to find out about the female gaming community and I was wondering if there were many female gamers around here? As many of the female gamers I know love MMORPG's, I thought this would be a good place to start!

I'm sure some guys do, but most of the guys have signed up on the site are really quiet, in fact we have more female members than male at the moment.

Long story with GG, so I'll try to be short. I started the original site Digital-Girl.com in 2002. In 2003 had a long break, had to change the name to Girl-Gamer.com. Lost all my database so had to build the site up pretty much from the ground. We've been back for about 2 months now.

Looks like you've come a long way in just 2 months. Your site is much more professional looking then most sites and I wish you good luck in finding new members. Maybe if I got some extra time I'll go check it out.

Female Gamer's...thats the most interesting topic Ive seen in a long time. To so a website dedictated to that gave me a strange feeling. Its kind of like running into a female sports fan site. Just make you stop and think for a few.

Everyone knows that 90% of the "females" in MMOG's are..well....NOT. I never understood why a guy would want to play a girl in a game. I guess its kind of like cross dressing *shrug*.

Because they're either physchotic queers. Or, they like to get easy stuff. Name a character named something like.....Daisy, go into town. Say, "Hey boys, can I get some free stuff." And boom. Your inventory is full.

Ya. Its pretty sad.

Or, as one person said in AC2. "If I have to stare at anyones butt all day. I'd prefer it be a girl."

But I would like to get some type of official and correct polls to see what the % of female gamers (Not the characters but the actual gender behind the chracters.) vs the % of male gamers.

I think guys playing girls is only a problem when they do it for the wrong reasons, like only to get stuff etc. I know my hubby has played a female char, but he just does it for a change, not to be harm anyone else. I don't tend to play male characters, but some girls do. I'm thinking of making a male character though, just to see what it is like!

It's really hard to know the exact stats of actual female gamers. Apparently a lot of girls play like puzzle games, but I haven't met too many that do.

I'm a female gamer. I'm also an over 40 female gamer. Currently a player/game admin at www.spaceminers.net . It's not a puzzle game. It's a straight out wargame. I never thought I was a rarity. LOL. We have a number of female gamers in the game. Certainly not a majority but still a healthy representation. And the guys have absolutely no problem with attacking me. Nor I them. I led a 50 strong alliance in BunkerWars (we won) and I'm HC in my current alliance.

I'm just careful about what I post in which Forums. I subscribe to a lot of generic forums but they are specific in their targets and I try to respect that. This is an RPG Forums. While I am happy to talk about my game, which is not RPG, I won't advertise it in here. It's not appropriate and I have no wish to feel the wrath of the mods in here. I'm a Forum Admin myself, so I understand the rules.

LOL yeah I don't think the girls are gonna appreciate the A/S/L question, which is one of the reasons why I tend to stay away from most forums, but it doesn't seem too bad here
